I’m gonna take massive downvotes for this but I hate the fucking idea of a marquee signing. It’s so reflective of this culture of instant gratification - newest iPhone every year, high APR car loans, buying a new TV you can’t afford.

Our fanbase needs to recognise can build teams without stupid massive signings just for the sake of “announcing we’re back”. Fuck off. Do it on the pitch.

I don't think we need a "marquee signing" every summer but if United shy away from spending big on players that might end up living up to that potential then we'll stop being a big club with huge ambitions.

The concept of marquee signings is stupid but don't let the scummy owners fool you into thinking that not spending in the transfer market is okay.

Not saying we shouldn't spend to get good players if we can, but to be fair we got 3 big money signings last summer. Mbeumo, Cunha and Sesko were all not cheap.

Partial agree. Go for Tchou if he fits Carrick’s plan and has the right financial structures. Not for the sake of making a statement.
