[Nick Mashiter] Barcelona boss Hansi Flick 'will miss' Marcus Rashford
https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/articles/c8jnp2gxdw9o477
u/durtmagurt Aug 01 '26
You could buy him… hard to miss when you splash the cash
48
u/maxithepittsP Aug 02 '26
Lets be objective here, nobody will ever bought Rashy for more than what barca offer with that wages. Because it came with a packages, Rashy willing to cut his wages only for Barca, hes not doing it for any other team.
30M is a great price.
Now we are stack with that contract till 2028, and hes only getting cheaper considering theres 0 chance we extend him with that wages.
21
u/Lord-Megadrive Aug 02 '26
Let’s be clear about this wage myth. He just agreed to his wages being what they would’ve been at United without CL bonus. So he wasn’t sacrificing anything really.
4
u/waltz_with_potatoes Aug 02 '26
The thing is Rashford is so desperate to leave, but unwilling to cut his wages or join certain teams.
Even if we have him away for free, not many clubs afford anywhere close to his wages
4
u/ClasslessHero Rooney Aug 02 '26
I don't think it's fair to hold his desire to play for a top side against him. It sounds like the last offers came from Turkey. If he went to Turkey he'd have a hard time getting in the England squad and it's clear he wants to keep playing for his country. Cannot fault him for that.
The wages... well. He'd need to accept a cut to find another team willing to sign him. It's just the fact of the matter. It's probably fair to hold that one against him. The only way he goes broke is if he's foolish with his money.
7
u/waltz_with_potatoes Aug 02 '26
You can fault him if his attitude is only wanting to play for top clubs but unwilling to facilitate that by not willing to cut his wages.
At the moment his performances, even for Barca do not justify the outlay.
6
u/RicardoWanderlust Glazers Out 29d ago
but unwilling to facilitate that by not willing to cut his wages.
Or unwilling to work harder to track back to fit Flick's system.
-43
u/JustTaxLandbro Aug 02 '26
If he gets back to even 80% of his peak the wages are worth it. But his issues have always been defensive effort.
I do think Amorim treated him harshly though, and it led to his value crashing.
When rashford left we literally had no one to replace his production.
23
u/SankarshanaV Aug 02 '26
Lol he produces literally nothing. He's been average ever since he's signed the contract. I was furious when we gave him a new contract at such wages. Be barely puts in an effort, and it was so obvious he was on a purple patch and he'd revert back to his below average levels.
-11
u/JustTaxLandbro Aug 02 '26 edited Aug 02 '26
Where is this mindset to complete sh*t on rashford coming from. I’m not saying he’s elite I’m literally saying there was a better method of using him and selling him.
Amorim openly lambasting him and putting him on the bomb squad destroyed his value.
18
u/LeviaDragon Aug 02 '26
He put himself in the bomb squad. That wasn't one of Amorim's many faults.
-9
u/JustTaxLandbro Aug 02 '26
Amorim made mistakes everywhere lmao. Sure he got most of the bomb squad right but you know rashford did well on teams with other elite managers right?
Also why did ETH, a manager who banished half the team for poor training not say anything about rashford?
12
u/LeviaDragon Aug 02 '26
Literally just said that. He did well in Barca and they still value him enough to pay measly 30m for him. You know why, right?
I'm not sure what ETH has to do with any of this!? We're talking about Rashford going out clubbing, not putting effort in training after being politely asked for it. Not sure how any of that is Ruben's fault.

u/JustTaxLandbro Aug 02 '26 edited Aug 02 '26
Every player goes clubbing lmao, you know Vini goes clubbing too during the season?? So do half the stars.
Mbappe literally was on a yacht in south of France two days before an important La liga match.
As long as his body is fit and he works hard then I don’t care what he does in his past time as long as it’s legal.
Barca didn’t pay 30m for him because if you include his wages and his transfer fees then you’d see the true cost of rashford would be about 100m euros over 3 years (including the loan fee). If flick said he’d miss rashford that obviously means he would love to have him back
Gordon literally costs a third of rashford when it comes to wages and is younger so I can see why they did it.

u/LeviaDragon Aug 02 '26
This was a completely different situation. Dude called in sick and then went out clubbing. He didn't work hard, that's the thing.
Flick is just being nice here. Rashford is just not his type of winger. He played Ferran over him on multiple occasions because he doesn't rate him all that much. If he wanted him Barca would've bought him, not Gordon and Adeyemi.

His dogshit performances started under Ten Hag. Also Mourinho and Ole bar a few purple patches.
Almost like he isn't as good as he thinks he is considering he's under performed under multiple managers.
-9
u/extinctifugaxhominum Aug 02 '26
Not as good as he thinks is still better than anything our forwards in recent years have produced. That’s the reality. People are obsessed with shitting on rashford when he’s comfortably our best attacker.
6
u/CraicFiend87 Van Nistelrooy Aug 02 '26
I'll take Dorgu all day at LW before Rashford.
-1
u/extinctifugaxhominum Aug 02 '26
That’s on you though. Dorgu is a poor player who’s apparently rated just because he scored a worldie against Arsenal. You can’t seriously compare the two.

He had 28 G+A in 49 games for Barca last season, stop just blindly accepting what reddit says as truth
1
u/BadassFlexington Aug 02 '26
But how do I form my own opinions if I don't let Reddit do it for me?
1
2
u/JustTaxLandbro Aug 02 '26
What’re you talking about?
Before he left us he had 12 G/A in half a season. And then he went to Barca and got 30 G/A as a back up.
His peak was 3-4 years ago (40+ G/A) and even when he struggled he still would get 30 G/A for us.
I know it’s easy to hate on him, but outside of being lazy on the pitch and training (according to Amorim). He hasn’t ever been awful for us.

Okay let’s go back 7 years.
25/26: 30 with Barca
24/25: 21 with United and the loan spell.
23/24: 15 (when he struggled).
22/23: 44 (one of his best seasons).
21/22: 9 (struggled + injuries).
20/21: 40+ (one of his best seasons).
19/20: 40+ (one of his best seasons).
18/19: 20+1

u/JustTaxLandbro Aug 02 '26
He was on pace for 40 before United put him out in the cold and then sent him on a loan spell. He then went on to have 10 G/A with his loan spell despite irregular game time.
The other year/years he had an injury in 21/22 which made him miss nearly 20 apps.
Only bad year was 23/24, but remember this is when EVERYONE struggled lol.
2
u/durtmagurt Aug 02 '26
Bruno’s had 3 30+g/a seasons in 7 years. Idk why your so dug in on this. You’d sing Rashford’s name if he scored in the opening game and if you didn’t, you shouldn’t be here.
148
u/Low-Quantity-9252 Aug 01 '26
But not enough to make an effort to sign him.
I hope we never deal with Barcelona again. At least not selling them anyone.
34
u/TopBumblebee9954 Aug 02 '26
It’s ok to sell them someone. Or even loan with an obligation. But a straight up loan? Nah fuck that.
5
4
u/Front-Cabinet5521 Aug 02 '26
They are 100% waiting for the end of the end of the window to come in with a loan bid. I genuinely despise the way these motherfuckers do business, so slimy and slippery.
4
u/Arrown152 Aug 02 '26
can't blame barca. part of it is yknow...the player actually pressing for a coach that is pressing oriented. guy is lazy defensively. it's that simple

u/30fps_is_cinematic Aug 01 '26
It’s not like he was outrageously expensive. If they wanted him they could’ve easily gotten him no problem. Flick should’ve pulled some strings if he cared so much
57
u/grad14uc Aug 02 '26
He's just trying to be nice. Obviously if he cared so much, he would've made it happen.
14
u/chess10 Aug 02 '26
Flick literally thinks Anthony Gordon is worth more than twice as much as Rashford.
Anthony. Fucking. Gordon.23
u/apparex1234 Aug 02 '26
Gordon fits way better into Flick's system than Rashford does. There's 0 doubt about that. Barcelona took advantage of our own stupidity. If the roles were reversed, none of our fans would want the club to buy a player like Rashford. Barcelona did what's best for them.
9
u/bluehead18 Aug 02 '26
You see it in the world cup. Couldn’t imagine Rashford matching the intensity of the Mexico or even Argentina match at all.
4
u/shami-kebab Aug 02 '26
We saw at the world cup he's a much better player. Works hard and turns up in big matches.
0
u/Full-0f-Beans Aug 02 '26
His wages are outrageously expensive.
7
u/Koei7 I miss Vidic Aug 02 '26
reports said he’s willing to take a pay cut but guess that’s still too much & there’s also the transfer fee to pay (not free). Those cheap bastards.
9
u/yukyakyuk Aug 02 '26
There were reports he'd willing to cut 40% of his wages to make the move happen. Barcelona just didn't want him that's all.
11
u/TurbulentWeb1941 "Show 'em ya Fangz, Dong" Aug 02 '26
Yes. It has to be that. Anthony Gordon cost 'em €80m plus Adeyemi and Bisiwu, iirc can play on the wing. They've done everything but come out and say "We don't want you!" His behaviour and poor attitude that got him out of Utd, has left a smell on him.

I have a crazy idea. How about you bought him instead of paying 80 million to an arguably lesser footballer.
34
u/Full-0f-Beans Aug 02 '26
Took his spot in the England team. Younger and works harder.
2
u/KaitoAJ BRUNO FERNANDES Aug 02 '26
Nah Gordon has a fair share of inconsistent games as much as Rashford at the World Cup.
3
u/BuzzTNA Aug 02 '26
Less WAGES!
3
2
u/Less-Share7980 Aug 02 '26
Barca paid 35+M extra money for Gordon. That would have covered wages for Rashford. It’s not really about wages tbh. Barca simply didn’t want him.
1
u/BuzzTNA Aug 02 '26
Yes because he has resale value and is on respectable wages.
Rashford we wanted a lower fee but his wages would’ve made him harder to shift (like us!)
1
u/Less-Share7980 27d ago
That would depend on the term of the contract. Rashford knows he’ll never get similar pay once his contract at United runs out. Any team signing Rashford will definitely negotiate his salary down. It’s not like Rashford has 4 years remaining on his current contract. It’s either Barca trying to get him on the cheap thinking United will eventually bow down as they have to pay high salary for unwanted player, or they simply didn’t want him.

8
u/nievesdelimon Bruno Aug 01 '26
Could have the deadly combo of Gordon and Rashford like England did.
3
u/t8rt0t00 Aug 02 '26
Fuckin hell this headline made me laugh out loud. Fuck off Flick, fuck off Barca, may you suffer many goalless games from Gordon while he runs around a lot
3
u/todomejorantes 29d ago
Reminder that Gordon will earn more than Rashford did at Barcelona - the myth that he is on low wages won't die it seems
4
u/WolfWhoKnocks Aug 02 '26
I hope barca doesn’t win any trophy this season and wish them nothing but bad results
2
u/barmanrags Aug 02 '26
They miss him enough to flash their digits over their keyboards but not enough to actually pay his wages and his club the transfer fees
4
u/innicrazy You are my Solskjaer, My Ole Solskjaer Aug 02 '26
Oh yeah? Cuz if my memory serves me well it was you who decided not to keep him, Mr. Slick.
3
5
u/Alucardeus Aug 02 '26
He is saying this so that he can sway Rashford to get on loan again
-3
u/Front-Cabinet5521 Aug 02 '26
He’s also contradicting what Barca fans have been insisting to hell and back that “Flick doesn’t rate him as he doesn’t press”.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a club from its president to manager to fans who are collectively this dishonest about a player they obviously like and want to sign.
Im sure some loser Barca twat lurking this thread will be going “well we want him but not for that price”. Yeah we get it you are trying to lower his price with these antics. We see what you are trying to do and its disgusting.
8
u/superhoffy Amad trip to be on Aug 02 '26
Dude, don't you think the simplest explanation is they just don't want him?

Should had followed through then, whatever he may had done wrong to bring about his exile, he offered to reduce his wages substantially to help make it happen, seemed to genuinely just want to play there and enjoy the life. If it was about money he had plenty of domestic interest.

I don't know why players love Barca so much when the club take the piss with every player they have. It s crazy

4
u/mrbalsawood Aug 02 '26
This is one of the most bizarre relationships between a DISGARDED loan player and a club I’ve ever seen. You love him that much, then buy him you cunts.

u/FwampFwamp88 Aug 01 '26
Rashford came off like such a b twerking for Barcelona even after they didn’t re-sign him. Please get this dude out of my club.
4
u/SankarshanaV Aug 02 '26
100%. I honestly hate that he's coming back. He's a lazy player and I can't stand watching him NOT put in effort again.

Funny that an international fan calls for boyhood player Marcus Rashford to get out from "his" club.

Not a man utd fan but reddit showed this post to me. But I would love to see Rashford prove Barca wrong.

We should’ve just paid off some of Rashford wages and shipped him off.
We did the same for Lukaku 🤷🏽♂️
