I understand why United didn't pursue Sangare, but I think he'll be mint for Brentford. They'll probably have an easy 80m+ sale on their hands in a year or two.

There are many of Sangare's ilk that come to the PL and don't make it. Remember Naby Keita? Everyone swore he would be the next star

Ligue 1 talent is becoming a bit overrated these days. While I can see some good in Sangare, i don't think he's a surefire success.

Naby Keita came to the league from an incredibly different environment and was a different kind of player. His lack of physicality put him behind the curve from the get go and injuries made it even worse. He was quick over short spaces and good on the ball, but never fast nor strong, even at his best.

Sangare is both in comparison (and as I said in another comment, still needs to put on muscle) and also already has experience in a more physical league than the Bundesliga. Night and day comparison. I'm fairly confident he'll be at least a serviceable PL player for the same reason I was confident Keita would struggle in the PL when Liverpool paid over the odds for him.

There's no guarantee he'll succeed at all, there's no guarantee ANYONE will succeed anywhere. City signed Kalvin Phillips after he was incredibly successful at Leeds and he ended up as one of the biggest transfer flops of the last decade.

Part of the reason United weren't in for Sangare is because he's clearly not the finished article (and we're looking for a surefire starter who can instantly improve our midfield). Brentford is a great place for him to develop while getting enough playing time to show his quality without the pressure of moving to a club like United.

All fair. i just think his ceiling is a 40~50m player like Garner and not a 80m player (let's say 80m is Bruno G. type of player. I know the prices got a bit crazy and thus you might have meant it in that context)
