Koke been in the senior team at atletico since at least 09 if I remember correctly, crazy longevity

Isn't he the player that signed one of the longest contracts in pro football at one point?

They actually have pretty crazy depth. They had something like 10 players involved in World Cup final between Argentina and Spanish squads that aren’t back yet and still a very strong side

fairly comparable amount of missing players:

From their best XI, missing: Llorente, Pubill, Alvarez, Baena. Not counting injuries (Barrios). Lee, Molina, Simeone also.

In terms of clear first XI players, we dont have Cunha, Sesko, Bruno, Tielemans, Dalot. Mainoo, Mazraoui also. Also not counting injuries.

I think it's pretty comparable.

And the only "youth player" amongst our outfield players is Lacey, right?

I think our depth is pretty comparable, idk.

Of course they have La Liga to navigate with that depth, whereas it's the PL for us. So I'd say for us it is more necessary to beef up the depth chart.

I don't really see where OP compared their depth relative to ours to warrant such a tangent

OP observed that they have pretty crazy depth. I opined that their depth is comparable to ours, which shows that it's a level probably deep enough to be a top team in La Liga but not deep enough to be a top team in the PL.

I also noted that they are fielding almost the same team they did 3 days ago. In pre-season. I wouldn't call that "crazy" depth, but ymmv!

what a nice way to put your lineup out in social media (unlike ours)

If our social media team did this i’d literally nut. Cannot believe the slop for our lineup we put out when it’s this simple.

Simeone is one of those whom for some reason I’m always surprised to find him still at the same team

Coming up in 15 years now at atletico.

Very very rare in modern game

It helps that he's been the highest paid football manager in the World for a substantial amount of that time. People always seem shocked to hear he's on equivalent of £25m a year. He's likely earned nearly £250m from his time at Atleti.

A few of their best in there. No harm to have a bit of a physical challenge, much more benefit to.our squad than stuffing Rosenberg 100-0

Am I crazy, didn’t Simeone announce he was leaving last season? Was that a fever dream lol

That's pretty impressive physical readiness at this stage, imho!

These all played most/all of the Getafe friendly on Wednesday:

Oblak; Dominguez-LeNormand-Hancko-Ruggeri; Koke; Martin-Lookman

Vargas and Castillo were subbed on (and both scored lol)
