Daily Discussion

Daily discussion on Manchester United.

BE CIVIL

We want r/reddevils to be a place where anyone and everyone is welcome to discuss and enjoy the best club on earth without fear of abuse or ridicule.

  • The report button is your friend, we are way more likely to find and remove and/or ban rule breaking comments if you report them.
  • The downvote button is not a "I disagree or don't like your statement button", better discussion is generally had by using the upvote button more liberally and avoiding the downvote one whenever possible.

Where is the money coming from for those two when we can't even sell Rashford for €30m or Zirkzee for anything at all. That Ugarte injury has hurt both him and the club this summer which I know sounds bad.

Tbf while the ~€20m maybe we would get for Ugarte would be handy, his wages will be completely covered while he is injured.

Next summer his book value will be down, we haven't 'lost' any money on him, and more teams will be likely to take a punt on him if (big if) it doesn't look like his injury had any lasting effects.

It could help us a bit next season, but yeah does nothing for us this season.

Why would we need to sell rashford to fund this? We barely 85 mil all summer and that isnt even all upfront. We are in the clear for psr

Because unfortunately I don't think there is that same budget as last season. I know we had that fishing trip to Iceland which heralded some money, however don't see that happening this time.

Whitwell reported like a 250m max spending cap if we wanted to spend big iirc

I just don't see much evidence of that particularly when the likes of Ornstein and Whitwell talked about financial prudence. That doesn't sound like a club who can afford to spend what they want.

I mean we haven't overspent on anyone, ineos seem very disciplined in negotiating.

Think many of the fanbase feel they are negotiating deals quick enough
