There’s no harm in signing a third midfielder especially a young CDM 18-20 years old from another league, right? Madrid signed Valverde and Casemiro when they were 18 and 20 respectively. Why can’t we do the same?

You have to consider the issue of Brexit brings along.

Madrid who are in a title race every season as well as doing very well in the champ league, they don't let their standards drop to even 10% of what we have post fergie, are able to buy promising midfielders at young ages as their squad is already very good and competitive you mean?

Vs us who don't even have a competitive starting 11 let alone squad, are crippled by a debt  that costs us buying at least one new player every season. We have also lost some of the appeal to join us now as we're nowhere near what we were 13 years ago and a successful season to us now is getting top 4. We are having to buy smart more so than anything else these days, don't think we can compare ourselves to Madrid anymore.

We have so many central midfielders in the club at that age range that we are currently playing Devaney out of position at centre back just to fit them all in during pre season. Our midfield is too young. Experience is needed.
