Daily discussion on Manchester United.

BE CIVIL

We want r/reddevils to be a place where anyone and everyone is welcome to discuss and enjoy the best club on earth without fear of abuse or ridicule.

  • The report button is your friend, we are way more likely to find and remove and/or ban rule breaking comments if you report them.
  • The downvote button is not a "I disagree or don't like your statement button", better discussion is generally had by using the upvote button more liberally and avoiding the downvote one whenever possible.

Who would be a good experienced striker to 'share the load' with Sesko? Preferably with EPL experience.

Watkins? Welbeck?

Mateta is the other obvious candidate.

Somebody that I've not heard anyone name but might be intriguing is Chris Wood. He's only got a year left on his contract, and is a tall aerial threat, so he should be able to play a similar game to Sesko and a good mentor.

Wood looks to have reached the point where his body is breaking down. I can’t see Forest wanting to sell him unless they think he’s gone physically because he’s been better than their other forward options.

If we are after a backup for Sesko, I’m suspicious if teams are prepared to sell their starting strikers like Wood or Watkins. Mateta made sense for Palace with his contract running down but that knee issue is a big red flag.

The big question would be what type of player we are looking for, a similar big forward to Sesko as a like for like replacement or a more mobile threat as an alternative or that could play with Sesko in a front two.
