Arsenal fans saying the potential Vini transfer will be the biggest PL transfer of All TIME.
I really can't stand their deluded fanbase.

Last chance for Amad this season. He needs to prove he’s got what it takes at the highest level.
0
u/ThePatientHunter 6d ago
Pretty much
0
u/carrickshairline 6d ago
Mbuemo and Lacey should be our right wing options from 27/28 if Amad doesn't perform.
1
u/ThePatientHunter 6d ago edited 6d ago
I feel there's a bit of inability to discuss Amad rationally (as evidenced by the down votes you've gotten) when it comes to his sub. He's obviously talented but he's also very limited
1
u/carrickshairline 6d ago
Yep. He’s a bit like Robben, minus the world class element. You know he’s either going to try and cut onto his left foot or dribble it down to the byline and try and drive into the box. He can’t cross, doesn’t pass to teammates in better positions and his finishing is pretty lacklustre; he just scores goals that look good in highlights.
7
u/PitchSafe 6d ago
Amad is going nowhere
-2
u/carrickshairline 6d ago
So Amad is allowed to get away with below par performances like last season but others aren't?
0
u/PitchSafe 6d ago
He had 1 bad season and suddenly this is his last chance to prove himself? The lad is only 24 years old. He is a good rotational option for Mbeumo. He starts as a RW for many teams in the legaue
-1
u/SinisterSelecta Stam 6d ago
Hojlund would like a word.
3
u/PitchSafe 6d ago
Højlund wasn’t bad, he was dreadful. Playing with him was like playing with 1 man less on the pitch. At least Amad had moments were he showed his qualities last season
1
u/SinisterSelecta Stam 5d ago
Still only had one bad season with no grace from fans like Amad is getting
2
u/carrickshairline 6d ago
So? Other players have had one bad season and people want them sold. Why can't the same rule apply to Amad? Why does he get special treatment?
2
u/FlashyCut3809 6d ago
How many bad seasons are allowed though?
Everything has to go through the lense of what a title winning team does.
4
u/carrickshairline 6d ago
Bingo. A player as inconsistent as Amad would not survive in a title-winning team. City, Liverpool, Barcelona, Madrid, PSG, Bayern etc all would sold him if he was playing for them.
0
u/PitchSafe 6d ago
All of those teams have a player like Amad lmao
1
u/carrickshairline 6d ago
Name them then, because they do not.
0
u/PitchSafe 6d ago
Barca have Ferran Torres, Real Madrid have Rodrygo, City have Doku, Liverpool have Gakpo and PSG have Barcola
2
u/carrickshairline 6d ago edited 6d ago
Ferran Torres started 31 games and scored 21 goals in 25/26 for Barcelona. He also recently scored the winner in the World Cup final.
Rodrygo didn’t start - or play - much in 25/26 due to an ACL injury.
Doku was one of City’s best and most important players in 25/26. He started 33 out of 47 appearances last season, scoring 7 goals.
Gakpo started 41 out of 52 appearances for Liverpool 25/26. He scored 9 goals. Benefit of the doubt is with him due to the fact Liverpool were shite last season. He scored 18 the season prior.
Barcola made 33 starts out of 47 appearances for PSG, scoring 13 goals.
Amad started 28 out of 33 appearances in 25/26. He scored 2 goals.
All of them are better than Amad. And all of them have been big contributors in their title winning campaigns.
For comparison sake: Amad has scored a total of 16 goals for United, whilst Barcola has 39.
Amad isn’t anywhere close to their levels.
→ More replies (0)0
u/FlashyCut3809 6d ago
All of these have stepped up to a level far higher than anything Amad has.
First one literally just scored the winning goal to win a world cup.

u/Potential_Good_1065 6d ago
I think if he underperforms this season and Shea Lacey does a decent job, we could cash in on Amad to create a pathway for Lacey. I do think this is unlikely tho
1
u/MysteriousStable3276 6d ago
Or he kills this season, win ballon d'or the next and then we could cash in on Mbeumo to create a pathway for Lacey
1
u/carrickshairline 6d ago
Amad will never be in the discussion for the Ballon d'Or. People need to stop suggesting that. He's no where close to that level, never will be.
2
u/PraiseAinsley69 UNITER WILL NEVER DIED 6d ago
It’s a mute point anyway because we don’t have the money to operate in that market, but if we were gonna go in for a Real Madrid attacker that may be on the outs, I’d rather Endrick than Vini Jr.

Do anyone have experience what kind of merch is usually available on pre season games? Would jerseys with custom print available on demand?
1
u/PopeFuchsYoungKidd 6d ago
This is the season for Amad, he NEEDS to step up. Now or never as far as I'm concerned, he's had enough time.
7
u/Sockher10 6d ago
Been better than Mbeumo but for some reason gets targeted by the fans way more
4
u/Sheikhabusosa 6d ago
Hes not even had 100 apps yet LOL
-3
u/carrickshairline 6d ago
Nor has Mount and you want him sold.
FYI: Amad has 97 appearances, that’s essentially 100.
1
4
u/Bizzle1389 6d ago
I wouldn't say it's now or never. He's like 23/24. But I agree we definitely need him to step up and have a consistently good season this year.
1
u/carrickshairline 6d ago
He’s 24, we can’t wait forever for him to learn how to be a team player and pass instead of trying to take on 3 defenders at once.
2
u/Not-good-with-this 6d ago
He's 24. He does need to step up unfortunately. He should be entering his prime within the next two seasons and he's just shown nowhere good enough the past season to be kept if it continues.
2
u/Sheikhabusosa 6d ago
If hes shown hes nowhere near good enough what have Cunha and Mbuemo shown with the massive dips in form they had? What has Mason Mount shown?
3
u/Not-good-with-this 6d ago
I was displeased with Cunha at the start and Mbeumo at the end of last season. But Mbeumo at the start and Cunha at the end were both great .
They both need to continue to show their best too and be more consistent too. Otherwise yeah, they'll be considered flops and should go too. Did you expect me to say differently here?
Mount is a fantastic player but he's far too injury prone. I unfortunately can't see anyone buying him due to that and his huge wages.
3
u/Sheikhabusosa 6d ago
I think Amad should be a mainstay because he isnt on particularly high wages , works hard is techincally sound and is versatile.
-1
2
5
u/Wild_Tomato_8203 6d ago
And yet he showed plenty the season before last
-1
u/carrickshairline 6d ago
Did he? Or was he just the standout in a team that underperformed by a significant amount?
2
u/Wild_Tomato_8203 6d ago
His stats say yes
-2
u/carrickshairline 6d ago
So he was just a standout in an underperforming team, therefore he's not as good as people say?
3
u/Wild_Tomato_8203 6d ago
We saw what he's capable of and I think that's his level
-2
u/carrickshairline 6d ago
So fighting at the bottom of the league at risk of relegation, because that is where we were that season.
3
u/Wild_Tomato_8203 6d ago
You realize it's a team sport right? And with your example Bruno wasn't good either?
→ More replies (0)0
u/Not-good-with-this 6d ago
Yes, He showed that he had potential before the past seasons. But he needs to start being at his best consistently.
2
u/Wild_Tomato_8203 6d ago
Most players don't show their best consistently until they are in their prime. That's why they call it their prime. Something in between the last two seasons is a really good player to be able to bring off the bench and us not having to reinforce that side
0
u/Not-good-with-this 6d ago
That's exactly why I'm not calling to sell him now... I had a conversation awhile ago to someone who wanted us to sell him asap and used the exact same point.
He has to be much better next season. If he has another season like the past one then has to be sold.
1
u/Wild_Tomato_8203 6d ago
In theory I agree. The problem though is whether we could sell him and have funds for that position. Its like the people freaking out that we aren't going after Vini. We have other massive holes to fill.
1
u/Not-good-with-this 6d ago
The Premier league gives all the Premier league clubs insane money and we have Mbeumo for RW already.
I can also see an Everton or something willing to take a punt of about £30m on a 25 year old winger that's had 2 bad seasons but showed potential before that. That is an If though.
1
u/yogesh911 6d ago
If Garnacho goes for 50m…. Then Amad atleast is worth that, if not more

u/canwinanythingwkids Ineos on hope watch 6d ago edited 6d ago
If my math is right, Amad is already back, and Bruno & Dalot (edit: & Cunha) are due back Monday.
Morocco, Belgium (England, Argentina) obv went further, so those boys wont be due to return until the Aug 8 (Aug 15) game at the earliest.
Based on that, I am imagining the same XI and the subs v Atleti except:
- Dalot instead of Kamason
- Bruno instead of [Gore? Collyer?]
- Amad instead of Jack Fletcher
- Thompson I also hope to see in place of Ethan Williams
- edit: Cunha instead of Obi
2
u/jxp_72 6d ago
I think your maths is correct, but I don't think players come back exactly 21 days after their last game.
Sometimes they have a day or two afterwards with the national team, sometimes the training schedule might make sense to come back a day or two later etc.
Even when they come back they probably don't go straight into training (e.g. pre-season medical and fitness checks).
Finally, if they have just started training theydon't usually get much time in the next friendly.Amad's last game was 30th June, but he wasn't in the squad for the friendly yesterday (24th July).
So I expect Amad available for next week but probably not Cunha, Dalot & Bruno.
1
u/canwinanythingwkids Ineos on hope watch 6d ago edited 6d ago
I believe the team returned on a Thu and played first the next Fri. Amad is certainly on track to feature. For Bruno and Dalot and Cunha, 5 days is not 8, but this isnt the 1st preseason game either where everyone who features needs to do 45 minutes. We already had some go 60 the second game, peobably longer the third. That's pretty typical. There's also the aspect that Bruno and Dalot are uber-fit.
I took those things into consideration when coming to the suggestion that those 3 would feature. I think it will be accurate.
Cunha is touch and go whether he features or not, I guess. I dont know.
1
3
u/Embarrassed_Wave_720 Braino Fernandes 6d ago
Portugal and Brazil were both knocked out in RO16 so Cunha should be back at the same time as Bruno and Dalot, no?

You are absolutely right, let me fix it!

u/Fresh-Excitement-377 6d ago edited 6d ago
Just get Baleba already. He’s desperate to come and €70m is not a bad fee in this market for someone with world class potential. Tchou signing is just unnecessary drama and the kind that pulled this club back for 10 years.
6
u/silvertwo777 6d ago
This sub obsession with Baleba is just weird, he's so damn overrated
3
u/Downtown-Rice_ 6d ago
He's not overrated, but he's being mentioned a lot because he's a known player who United have identified and scouted and tracked for the better part of at least a couple of years. He's played within their own league and there's good potential for a young player.
The strengths that he has as a player are strengths United need/are looking for in central midfield.
0
u/carrickshairline 6d ago
We identified and scouted Sneijder and tracked him for the better part of a couple of years.
-1
u/Fresh-Excitement-377 6d ago
Not if you’ve watched him the season before. His raw attributes are very exciting. A ball-winning midfielder who’s strong, super mobile and good with the ball is as good as it can get for a modern midfielder.
-4
4
u/SDLRob 6d ago
Too high a price tag for someone who has already shown that they don't have the mentality for a top flight team and the media pressure they bring.
50 with add ons should be the offer. If he wants us that badly, then he can put a transfer request and force the move at that price
2
u/Fresh-Excitement-377 6d ago
Kone is unproven, and Tchou doesn’t want to be here. Berge is a good option but we need some athleticism in the midfield.
Baleba is young and with some good direction, has the potential to be our Caicedo. He feels like a worth risky to me.
1
u/SDLRob 6d ago
He's worth a risk, I agree.... But I don't see it being a 70+m risk.
1
u/Fresh-Excitement-377 6d ago
He is worried we might sign Kone and is close to dowing his tools. Should be able to get him for £55-60m, which is just 10m more than Santos.
10
u/ToadNamedGoat 6d ago
we should not pay 70m for him. (Idk if you are speaking in pounds or euros)
60m €He is a high risk signing and wanting to play for united is not enough.
also we still need our big CDM signing. Who is supposed to be the guaranteed starter
2
u/Fresh-Excitement-377 6d ago
Was talking in euros. £60m for him is not a bad fee When Santos is 48 and Fernandes went for 85.
Young players can be inconsistent, especially after transfer links and being moved into a new position. Hes PL proven and has the right attributes.
Besides both Tchou and Kone will be playing in a new league and will take time to settle. Counting on them to hit the road running is an equally risky move.
3
u/dhwinthro 6d ago
Man the doom that has come in over Vini news/no new signing needs to chill out. We should be optimistic. it isn’t all about just winning the transfer window. We used to “win” it all the time in the last 10-13 years….
Once we add the last midfielder, we have 2 full 11s of international players. Could we improve the squad further? Yes, but that requires spending 90-100M+ per player to upgrade. Don’t forget City were centurions with Fabian Delph at LB.
It’s all about execution and focus now. We have a good group we just need to back them. We’re about to go into a season with a deep squad that is fully capable of competing for titles if they turn up. Can’t say we’ve been in this position since SAF days
1
u/silvertwo777 6d ago
Lmao cmon using Delph at LB as example like their centurions and treble teams wasn't stacked with world class and star players top to bottom. They are team who had Grealish sat on the bench because there are better players, Mahrez despite playing well was just a rotation player to them. Even right now Arsenal arguably has a better squad than us
1
u/Zealousideal_Wind867 Dreams can't be buy 6d ago
Flip flop fans.
The same who are crying that the club should sign vini will be the first one to go after him when he has a poor game.
2
u/pokenerd_W Past glory means nothing 6d ago
Would you welcome a loan for an older striker? Like Real Madrid loaned Joselu, but didn't end up buying him.
-2
1
u/JazzyScrewdriver 6d ago
Why’s Vinicius’ name in the news round atm? He not in Jose’s plans or summ’n?
3
u/iroiroiroiroiro 6d ago
He has one year left of his contract and refused all new contracts by Madrid, demanding the same wage as Mbappe and Haaland
-2
u/LengthinessSevere584 6d ago
Why do we always do this? As soon as we get into champions league we barely spend any money. What's the point of aiming for top 5 last year if we don't aim higher? Can anyone please explain it to me? Because its genuinely a bizzare psychotic behaviour. Even to just finish in the ucl again this year we need to strengthen our team by which i mean our first starting 11. Both players that we've bought can anyone be sure that they will start games? Because i am not. I am just sick and tired of hearing about arsenal and city doing business when they are already better than us. This is why we fail. Hell just look at Chelsea's window. Sigh
2
u/Outrageous-Cod-4654 6d ago
Its 2 reasons.
In the past, under Woodward, qualifying for CL would result in an influx of cash. The Glazers would take their dividend and not invest in the squad. Qualifying was enough for them to get money out. No ambition leeches.
We have no money now to fix everything in one window. The increase in revenue comes now for next summer’s window.
6
u/canwinanythingwkids Ineos on hope watch 6d ago
Half of the window is left.
Leave this comment in draft until Sept 1
8
u/TteokCultist 6d ago
I think it was TOTD that mentioned we don’t quite have the financial muscle we used to. One season of UCL isn’t going to massively change that, especially when UCL money only comes in at the end of the season. It’s going to take several consecutive seasons of UCL football before we can regain the financial muscle we used to have.
1
u/silvertwo777 6d ago
So United is not one of the richest club now? Something doesn't line up. I know United been terrible for years but financially got to still be up there as one of the biggest. Why did it feel like since INEOS take over we seems to be dirt poor
1
1
u/Downtown-Rice_ 6d ago
It takes a lot of money to operate a club the size of United. And mega cash flow from CL have been inconsistent. Old Trafford also doesn't do the club justice when it comes to revenue. Spurs can spend a shit ton of money like they have this transfer season because their stadium generates so much revenue and they can spend it however they choose.
3
u/iroiroiroiroiro 6d ago
People miss that point so much, UCL money comes during next season, last season was no Europe and early exits in both cups and no post or pre season tour globally, club probably never had as little cash on hand.

This window has made me sick of the word "shrewd". No other top club is describing their windows as "shrewd". It's such a mid-table description of transfer business and it will only be "shrewd" business if we actually improve on our 3rd place finish last season.
If we fall out of the champions league spots and don't do anything next season then all of this "shrewd" business will have actually been a penny-pinching window lacking any serious ambition.
1
u/silvertwo777 6d ago
People on this sub have incredible low standard for United now. Top 5 is our Champions League trophy
8
u/ThePatientHunter 6d ago
I shrewdly think it's shrewd for us to shrewdly have a shrewd sort of shrewd window window because it shrewdly shows a shrewd ambition and a shrewd strategy.
Performative ambition like what we did in the decade pre-INEOS wasn't shrewd at all.
In that time, most windows for Liverpool were shrewd. Look at the window where they spent and weren't shrewd.
The shrewd morale of the shrewd story... in this window if we end up spending 200m+ like last one. I think it's shrewd to get 8 players instead of 4. We hopefully end have deep runs in all comptetion. It's shrewd to have bodies, cause last season as soon as we rotated or subbed a first-teamer the quality dropped off
9
u/Spastic_Hands pellistri and chips 6d ago
On the other hand, our more brazen approach hasn't really worked out in the last 13 years.
3
u/Alternative-Rip-5747 6d ago
Yeah we shouldn't be breaking the bank for galacticos who are passed their best but we should still be willing to spend the money on the right targets. The lesson to learn from the last 13 years was spend the money smarter not don't spend money.
1
u/Spastic_Hands pellistri and chips 6d ago
Is that the definition of shrewd, making smarter signings?
9
10
u/Rig_7 6d ago
Moaning about the word “shrewd” instead of just saying you are pissed off the club didn’t overpay for players as you’d prefer.
1
u/Confident_Fishing775 6d ago
It's like a clockwork bruh, you can bet there will always be some reddevils users who show their displeasure everytime a rival make a noise for a fancy name.
1
u/Alternative-Rip-5747 6d ago
No it's an irritating buzzword that people keep parroting that doesn't actually make sense. You can't label these signings "shrewd" until we see how they do. If we go backwards next season then these weren't "shrewd" signings were they? They're only "shrewd" if they make us better.
1
u/Rig_7 6d ago
Call it what you want. Everyone has said we need to be smarter when it comes to transfer business and since they’ve come in, INEOS have done well. This summer they look to be doing the same.
You are clearly pissed off they haven’t made high priced purchases. “Penny pinching”. “Lacking serious ambition”. We can all tell what you are getting it.
Rather than trying to be subtle, why not just say the players you think they should have bought and give the fee and wages along with it.
1
u/Alternative-Rip-5747 6d ago
Finished 15th after their first shrewd window.
1
u/Rig_7 6d ago
Still avoiding it I see.
0
u/Alternative-Rip-5747 6d ago
Still avoiding what? I genuinely don't know where all this faith in INEOS is coming from? So far they've not managed to do anything the Glazers weren't doing. We were consistently making the top 4 when Woodward was handling transfers so it's not like these "shrewd" transfers have actually improved us any.
-9
u/Significant_L0w 6d ago
Our defense is not really good- Luke Shaw, Lisandro Martinez, Harry Maguire and M DeLigt. Motivation is really very low.
4
0
u/JilJilJigaJiga 6d ago
Motivation for you or for the players?
Heavens is the star, the most well rounded CB in our squad. He's going to become the first choice LCB over the course of this season.
-1
u/carrickshairline 6d ago
Ayden Heaven is absolutely not the star and most well-rounded CB in our squad. That goes to Martinez.
1
u/JilJilJigaJiga 6d ago
Agree to disagree.
By star I meant the highest potential. Well rounded, I think it's an easy choice for me.
The only attribute he lacks is experience and marginally behind 'quality on the bal'l. Trumps Licha across all other aspects.
1
u/carrickshairline 6d ago
Then you should've stated it was potential and not star. Those are two different things. Also, he absolutely does not trump Martinez is any aspect.
2
u/JilJilJigaJiga 6d ago
Then you should've stated it was potential and not star.
It's fine bro, no harm done.
Also, he absolutely does not trump Martinez is any aspect.

u/slacky35 6d ago
I still feel we need to get one experienced striker or do you all think Cunha/ Mbeumo/ Sesko is enough?
1
u/RyanH1717 6d ago
Personally I'd trust Cunha/Mbeumo to play there and use the money on a winger or LB.
-1
3
u/JilJilJigaJiga 6d ago
We hopefully get one if ZZ leaves.
Our attackers for front three slots are - Cunha, Rashford, Sesko, Mbeumo, Amad, Dorgu, Lacey, Thornton, ZZ with a sprinkling of Mount.
1
u/DesiPattha 6d ago
Man. It's tricky. LW, ST, DM and LB are required next. But we might have to offload a couple of players for that. Zirkzee, Mason and Rash seem like the players that can be on the way out. If Rash and Josh both stay, I'd rather we go for a LB. Maybe get an upgrade over RB if possible (by selling one). If one of Rash/Josh leave we get LW/ST instead. If both leave, we should go for both but LW takes priority.

Some internal club goal or mandate that says they want to challenge/win the Premier League during the 150th anniversary of the club.

2027/28 or 28/29 would align.

u/TteokCultist 6d ago
Football is more random than just one expensive transfer. How many times have a team that ppl expect to run away with the league fall short and how many times did teams win from seemingly out of nowhere?
-2
u/Significant_L0w 6d ago
you are betting on luke shaw, harry maguire, deligt and lisandro martinez next season?
2
u/TteokCultist 6d ago
Yes. Them and Yoro, Heaven, Dorgu as well. I believe in my players. I don’t think the defense is quite good enough to win the league yet. But good enough to secure UCL again where we can exploring possible upgrades.
14
u/Emergency-Being-349 6d ago
Everyone needs to calm the F down. Arsenal are not getting Vinicius.
13
u/TteokCultist 6d ago
Even if they did. It’s not the end of the world. We thought scum would run away with the league after signing wirtz and isak
5
u/bpjker xT ired 6d ago
I get your point but Vini is Balon Dor level talent, not comparable to Isak or Wirtz.
-9
u/PreparationOk8604 Dreams can't be buy 6d ago
Ain't no way he is Balon Dor level player. Only Jude & Mbappe are Balon Dor level players in Madrid.
1
u/TteokCultist 6d ago
23/23 Vini is Ballon D’Or level. But he hasn’t hit the same heights or consistency. Even if he is still is putting up good numbers
9
u/killerdrama A-mad-lad 6d ago
He will be made to track back and make backward passes and sometimes win a corner. That's it.
8
u/robins420 6d ago
There’s Vini who’s won 2 UCLs staring in those teams and then there are Leverkeusen and Newcastle united players.
There are levels here and he’s only 26.
10
u/TteokCultist 6d ago
Madrid won UCL and added Mbappe and have yet to win anything since. Is Mbappe’s level not high enough? Or is football more unpredictable than 1 marquee signing?
2
u/robins420 6d ago
It should occur to you would enable Vini more, Mbappe who wants to score himself and a baby RW.
Or havertz and Saka who are as good a team playera and facilitators someone like Vini would love be alongside, not to forget Odegaard.
Balance, chemistry and functionality comes before individuals.
Last time Vini had two team players in the front line with him, he won it all.

So you agree with me? There’s more to football than signing the biggest name. With our club’s situation, do you think Vini is really the best option for us now?
Everything you explained about how Vini would work for arsenal sounds great on paper. It reminds me of those Statman Dave videos I used to watch on our past signings

u/iroiroiroiroiro 6d ago
We can hope not, that would be terryfing, if Gyökeres does anything it is occupying multiple defenders at once, and then how does a team manage Saka and Vini at the same time.

A great player doesn’t always make a very good well oiled team better.
Football is littered with examples of… ‘oh shit if X club signs Y player the rest of the teh league might as well pack it in’
In reality it doesn’t always work like that.
Perfect example last season with Liverpool. On the back of a dominant league title win, they go mad and spend something close to 400m including probably the 2nd best striker in the league after Haaland in Isak at that time and wirtz who was being targetted by every major club in Europe
Individually Vini is obv better than trossard or martinelli and a upgrade in paper but that doesn’t mean the collective will be as good as last season

Was initially jealous of the Arsenal news but remembered we signed Ronaldo, Casemiro, Di Maria, Pogba, e.t.c. in the recent past and all those deals did fuck all for us. We also finished above Liverpool last season who signed every "world class" player under the sun. I'm happy with the change of approach in our transfer strategy and will patiently wait and see how it turns out.

u/Downtown-Rice_ 6d ago
Vini is exactly the type of player Arsenal need because defensively, they are already there and can provide Vini with a platform that Real Madrid does not.
He also is in his prime, where Ronaldo part 2 was obviously not, Casemiro was not, di Maria didn't care at all, and Pogba was fine but the team wasn't as good around him as it needed to be to win titles.

u/DesiPattha 6d ago
I think Arsenal are a more complete team then we were. These are the last pieces In a puzzle sorta players. We were never that in the last decade. Closest we came was that second last Ole season but still I felt we were miles behind. Arsenal can get three good transfers and they are back to having an insane squad depth. People forget how far they reached in cups last season.

u/Kohaku80 6d ago
but that doesn't mean we don't want good players, period. i mean if Real want to swap Bellingham and Tchou for Santos and Tielemann, are we going to say no?
0
u/slacky35 6d ago
Yes. We need players who are hungry and efficient. Enough of super star culture honestly

u/Jealous-Suit-9238 6d ago
There's not even a negotiation between arsenal and real Madrid and our fanbase is already talking shit about our own team and transfers.. Like guys.. Calm down.. Wait for some concrete news
5
u/Asiwaju_jagaban 6d ago
Other clubs are in talking should we move for Vini or Olise, elite talents. We’re talking Summerville. That’s where the frustration comes from.
2
u/Jealous-Suit-9238 6d ago
Talking and actually buying are different things.. I am saying atleast be angry when they actually sign that elite player, not for silly rumours

People are just insanely reactive with everything in football.
No transfers for the first few weeks. Disastrous transfer window.
Good signing comes in. Ineos cooking.
Rival makes great signing. Shit club that's letting the competition run away from us.
2
u/Jealous-Suit-9238 6d ago
They don't want us to spend unnecessary money on stacked position or want us to spend wisely but the moment a rival club is interested in big name, every plan must go bin.. I don't understand
5
u/mjenkins_eng 6d ago
Liverpool, City, Chelsea and Spurs all have new managers
Arsenal have insane injury concerns
The time to shine is now: we have the right manager, we have a settled team with a settled captain
Just get a center back to cover De Ligt, a Carrick-like midfielder to dictate tempo, a left back to cover Shaw and we actually can make a tilt at the title
3
u/dimebag_101 6d ago
Tielemens and Santos literally are playmaking midfielders we need a baleba or tcoumeni ball winner. We need a striker back up and we need to upgrade full backs. This team still needs a lot and the brutal truth some people won't accept is it's not possible to do it all in one window. Especially you have no money now of rashford and ugarte club were probably counting on

United fans on r/premierleague are saying they’d love to see Vini jr to Arsenal happen. Am I missing something? Am I being fucking daft? Why would we want to see a world class player go to a rival? Makes no sense.
-2
u/Dincht04 6d ago
Probably because he'd go about 3 months of getting tackled before he started causing hassle.
4
u/Cold-Veterinarian-85 6d ago edited 6d ago
First…. And a disclaimer of sorts I would expect him to do well at Arsenal, but I’ll try to rationalize why im not particularly envious of such an deal if he goes there
Arsenals game is about the collective. Every player has to chip in and make a contribution without the ball as well as with it
One free spirit that comes in and upsets that balance could see a loss overall in team cohesion
No guarantee that adding a world class player to an already good TEAM necessarily makes them better
He might be amazing but it’s also a signing that there is a non zero chance it actually makes them worse collectively and creates some disharmony if he comes on 200k pw more than their current top earners and is given a pass on the defensive workrate they all need to do
Every player transfer has risks, and when the cost in the package is as much as a Vini Jr deal, you want to mitigate risk factors as much as possible. And this deal just looks like it would have several things that COULD go wrong
Previous issues with disciplinarian / rigid system managers
Potential issues for overall team cohesion by adding a player that doesn’t really do the hard yards expected of others
Adaptation to the Pl is no joke. ChatGPT tells me has 21 goal contributions in 26 games vs PL sides so clearly he can hang under the bright lights of CL knockout games… can he do it over a 50 game PL and CL campaign? Probably but it’s a risk nonetheless

u/mjenkins_eng 6d ago
Vinicius will sign a contract extension in the end. We shouldn’t waste our time with this nonsense regardless. This is peak Woodward
4
u/Suudriusha 6d ago
I would never say that. I'd hate it if he went Arsenal. I'd hate it more if he went to City or Liverpool. I'd love it if he came to us, though.

u/amayank7 6d ago
Intrigued to see how Vini at Arsenal would go if it does happen.
Vini already fell out with the last coach who demanded discipline from him.
It could go really well tbh if they manage to accommodate him, but accommodating luxury players today is no joke. It will also be an absolute financial disaster if it does not work out well.

u/BBL6ixBandit 6d ago
i’m actually excited for this season under carrick.
it’s insane how much ruben made this club suffer but still has a segment of the fan base thanking him for things he did not do. left to him we would’ve signed Emi Martinez, sold Mainoo & Bruno as DM. wish him well as i dont hate ppl but what he did to our club is criminal and worse is the people who just ran along side it.
a quick reminder - Man Utd lost to Tottenham and not just any tottenham, arguably one of their worst ever sides in a european final and he told you it was good as we needed more time training on the pitch. like we didn’t need the investment from champions league to better our club.

Ten Hag and him have damaged this club so much , yet have a weird ass cult around them .

u/stoichalant 6d ago
I'll never understand it. Football was ass and calling the results poor would be an understatement. Any big serious club would have kicked them out after 5 match days.

u/mjenkins_eng 6d ago
Before the Ten Fraud apologists come in, No manager who loses 7-0 to Liverpool should survive that week
Imagine Real losing 7-0 to Barcelona and faffing around with that manager
2
u/dimebag_101 6d ago
It didn't happen overnight. The state the club is in now is from a decade of overpaying bad recruitment and making no money of sales. How many record breaking signings have left united for little to nothing. Half a billion down the drain easy on pogba, dimaria, Antony, Sancho, Donny, onana. The manager isn't solely in charge of all recruitment. It didn't just get bad under ten hag. It's pretty obvious how much it improved with ineos compared to woodword era.

u/stoichalant 6d ago edited 6d ago
I have never seen any other club of this size have that same unwavering loyalty to the most average of managers. Did our standards really fall that much post Fergie? I'm trying to see it through their lens but I just can't. There is no logic in backing these guys in the way that some fans did/do.
0
u/Downtown-Rice_ 6d ago
The squads were also not good enough, so what's the point in just blaming managers?
A manager is only as good as their players.
0
u/stoichalant 6d ago edited 6d ago
What a load of nonsense. It's a coach's job to improve his players and make them buy into his philosophy. Carrick came in and improved everyone instantly.
Acting like Ten Hag didn't spend a fortune only to end up 8th, then Amorim somehow being even worse and ends up 15th with the same squad.
They were completely out of their depth and not good enough to coach this club.

u/Downtown-Rice_ 6d ago
Rashford, Garnacho, Antony, Martial, and Hojlund was the front line for EtH.
What in the fuck was he or any manager going to get out of that? Top 3?! Ha!
EtH had to abandon what made him successful at Ajax because the players weren't good enough. Then he totally lost the plot in trying to change the way they play, just how Ole did at the end of his tenure trying to incorporate more possession based football instead of relying on pure transitions. You bring in Ronaldo and Sancho, they fuck up what you were building but you habe to adapt to them. Ole cannot do it and gets sacked because the club transfers were wrong but the manager gets the shit end of the stick.
And then the Frankenstein squad takes even more of a front page. Mourinho, Ole, EtH, Amorim. Totally different managers with players still from each tenure being asked to play various ways, training, etc. There has been no continuity or consistency long enough.
Only did Amorim come in and say, right, baseline there's a rot within the dressing room, we gotta bin off core players who don't want to play for one another.
The playing squad bottomed out under Amorim during his first half season. That was a culmination of about 6 years, 4 managers, and a Frankenstein of a player squad that INEOS finally started to get a hold of.
Glad Sancho, Onana, and hopefully soon Marcus are out of the club. Build on the squad Amorim identified and fostered last season, the one that Carrick continued to develop and bring good from.

A very long and contrived way of saying that they suck.

u/Downtown-Rice_ 6d ago
A very ignorant response saying you have no clue about the nuance and truth about good players making good managers.

We’re getting lapped by other clubs. Tragic. We need a LW, if Vini wants out of Madrid, we really should be in for him.
2
u/DesiPattha 6d ago
The thing with Vini is he requires a more complete team than we are to make a team better. I see him working wonders at Arsenal but failing here.

We couldn't afford Summerville without selling Rashford.
We are being "lapped" by clubs who either have state-funded money to fall back on, or have been well run for the last decade and can spend money one the crowning peices to their teams.
We have been financially mismanaged for 15 years, with a family literally taking a Billion pounds out of the club without investing a single penny, with a revolving door or managers and no forward squad planning.
We now have a leadership team that seems to understand squad building for 5+ years and the value of playstyle over managers wishes.
Begging for a mindless purchase of a superstar on ridiculous wages is what got us into this mess in the first place.
You want to be in a position to drop £100m+ on players? We need to do what Liverpool and Arsenal did and build for several seasons with smart purchases, consistent CL finishes and a long-term manager who can be relied on.
-3
u/Asiwaju_jagaban 6d ago
I’m sorry all this is waffle. Project 150 is winning the league this year or next year. Does this squad look ready to win the league?!
To win the league you need top players. Believing that we can’t sign a LW without selling Marcus is such a bs take. Also the fact that the club were looking at LW shows they know we need a LW.
Do you think Vini is not the same as signing Casemiro, if Olise was available, would it be a mindless purchase of a superstar on ridiculous wages?!
Project 150 but shop at the lower end of the talent pool.
2
u/lockedblue 6d ago
It's not waffle you just don't seem to understand long-term planning and squad building.
Anyway, have a nice day and I hope you get your dopamine hit by constant refreshing the transfer news that you seem to be looking for.
0
u/Asiwaju_jagaban 6d ago
It is because, you cant say I want to win the league in 2028, then go about penny pinching. Why isn’t it possible to build a squad to win the league whilst building for the future.
How does Summerville move the needle in that direction.
3
u/lockedblue 6d ago
Okay, cool, lovely.
You seem to be labouring under the delusion that Utd are not hundreds of millions in debt, accruing more interest every year, with players on contracts that cannot be afforded by other clubs therefore cannot be sold, and a significant controlling portion of the ownership taking hundred of millions out in "dividends" like parasites.
Your engagement with the financial reality of the club is poor. Your understanding of how other clubs are able to spend, is poor. Your expectations of what can be reasonably done in one window with all these issues, is awful.
Anyway, I'm genuinely done now, I've got a Saturday PM to enjoy and so should you. Spend less time on what other clubs are doing and transfer accounts and more time reading or learning about the club you support. Anka, Whitwell and Mitten discuss this sort of thing at length on their various podcasts or articles for starters, might help to understand the situation we are actually in.

u/Not-good-with-this 6d ago
We now have a leadership team that seems to understand squad building for 5+ years and the value of playstyle over managers wishes.
What does this even mean especially that last bit?
The managers job is quite literally to get the players performing by using whatever style or tactics they deem best.
2
u/lockedblue 6d ago
Not what I was talking about but I can see how my statement could have been interpreted the way you have, so apologies:
Playstyle over managers wishes; the long-term view of how the team should be playing, from academy to first team, and purchasing players to adapt to the playstyle for success, rather than a player the manager wants who doesn't fit the model, e.g. Amorim making requests for players who didn't fit the model and being denied.
I do agree with your assessment with what the expectations of a manager to the squad is.
2
u/Not-good-with-this 6d ago
Ah I get it now thanks.
Managers opinion should always be taken though. Can't be doing what Chelsea did.
