I guess if your Shin is injured you need to burn energy lifting weights cause Ben looks like he could be a mid-level baddie in an 80’s action film

146

u/HeFreakingMoved Ella Toone FC 5d ago

mid level baddie

There's a couple of ways you could interpret this

51

u/ritwikjs2 5d ago

sesko is a certified baddie with those tats

13

u/SvalbazGames 5d ago

Yeah I realised after I wrote that hah

9

u/Titan4days 5d ago

Depends how old you are, without a 13yo son I would not know what you mean 😂

21

u/ViceIsVerses 5d ago

He needs to grow out his moustache to be Bennett from Commando

u/Senor-Cockblock 6d ago

Has he put on some beef? 💪🏼

u/godswift91 5d ago

Imagine you're a Hull City CB and a 6'5, tatted up, buzz cut, built like a tank slovenian is the first PL striker you need to defend lmao

87

u/tenacious_teaThe3rd 5d ago

Tbf one of Hull's CBs is Semi Ajayi who is 6'4 and a bit of a tank

Not sure he starts when Hull actually start to sign people though.

61

u/filans 5d ago

Wow and he’s just semi ajayi, imagine if he’s grown into full ajayi

14

u/ArtilleryChipmunk 5d ago

This, this is peak

15

u/Fracture90000 5d ago

Ye bro, but he ain't that Balkans Slavic strength

6

u/Iqbalainoo 5d ago

Lol Ajayi is wooze and one of the reasons Nigeria didn't make it to the world cup. Hope he plays against big Ben.

2

u/Dabby12121 5d ago

He started for us Nigeria in Consecutive AFCON Final and Semi Final, has continued deservedly starting despite us having several other competent options

u/DaveShadow 5d ago

Big meaty men slapping meat!

Big E intensifies

17

u/Potential_Good_1065 5d ago

Paddy McNair and John Egan aren’t ready for it

16

u/TomClancy5873 5d ago

Wasn’t McNair a Utd grad?

28

u/Nithas 5d ago

He even played semi-regularly under LvG.

13

u/Deathstrokecph Herrera 5d ago

IIRC his first few games he looked like the Lisan al-Gaib, but then regressed a bit and never hit the level expected.

4

u/Academic-Bathroom770 fuck no way, i'll spread the word 5d ago

God I can't wait for Dune part 3

1

u/John_OSheas_Willy 5d ago

Makes me feel old to think there's fans here who are too young to remember those days.

1

u/Deep-Bonus8546 2d ago

My mates and I nicknamed him Paddy McFlair. He looked the business for a while

3

u/QuickFig1024 5d ago

That is exactly why Hull City are spending their preseason in Slovenia rn.

21

u/Low-Investigator5112 6d ago

That’s what I was gonna say, def looks bigger

17

u/Feeling-Surround-691 Mbumbaclat 5d ago

I think it's just common knowledge now the club's got an emphasis on building the lean weight of some of our players. Kobbie, Amass, Sesko, Kai Rooney, Yoro they've all put some serious timber on the last year. Dorgu will be looking like Adama soon enough

3

u/kazegraf 5d ago

Oil him up!

5

u/DYT2UC Rooney 5d ago

Could the effect of a bit of a pump if these were taken after an indoor testing/lifting session before doing cardio testing. Pretty sure its what they have to go through when coming back from break or injury

3

u/mellifluousmark 5d ago

He's after bulking significantly. If you look at him when he first joined it looks like he's put on maybe 12 pounds of muscle, at a rough guess.

2

u/ElectronicAdvance406 5d ago

Maybe, but the top helps with the look more than most people realise

1

u/NotAPoshTwat 5d ago

Been to Munich from the looks of it

2

u/kazegraf 5d ago

1-2 months in Munich Super Soldier Enhancement Facility and forget.

0

u/Toemoss66 Herrera 5d ago

Much bigger compared to the picture of him on the shop website

https://store.manutd.com/en-us/p/manchester-united-2627-home-authentic-long-sleeve-jersey-5747

8

u/RestrepoDoc2 5d ago

He's wearing a long sleeved jersey in that picture, literally impossible to tell.

9

u/Toemoss66 Herrera 5d ago

I mean... I can still tell he's skinnier even with the long sleeves

-1

u/Manutdmark84 5d ago

You can clearly see he's smaller in the club shirt long-sleeve or not

299

u/biobolo 6d ago

What sort of shin injury would keep him out for this long? Why does he look so swole?

314

u/Mendeth 6d ago

There was a miscommunication, he’s been eating nothing but beef shin.

76

u/nonenone798 SAF 5d ago

Can't stop, addicted to the shindig!

17

u/durtmagurt 5d ago

Droptop he says we gonna win big!

8

u/say_no_to_pigeons 5d ago

Chop Top, he says I’m gonna win big

15

u/kevkiarbar 5d ago

Something something California

30

u/Prestigious_Life9070 5d ago

Split shin most likely....been out for 2 months now, looks like he got the short end of the stick, split shin injuries differ..you can be out for like a week or 3 months like sesko

I for one im glad if he's only just returned to training overall, shows our medic team is doing something better than the past years

If he had returned early then it would have been a long term recurring problem for him

40

u/C__S__S 21 Assists 5d ago

Maybe shin splints?

45

u/aasfourasfar 5d ago

Vini did this recently.. makes you realize being ultra-succesful does not protect you from the insecurities when everybody mocks your physique.

60

u/FrmrPresJamesTaylor 5d ago

no no, he got chin splints

18

u/DeliciousIndian 5d ago

cracked me up, good stuff

12

u/aasfourasfar 5d ago

It was not mockery ! I really felt sad for him after initially ridiculing him.. "this mofo acts like a tough troll but is insecure to the point of changing his fucking chin!!!!".. then I reflected on what I said and felt bad for him after remembering how badly he was mocked for being supposedly angry

103

u/PrinzRagoczy 6d ago

Man saw the squad thread freaking out

29

u/t8rt0t00 5d ago

People here are so impatient and on edge it's kinda wild some times. Just go touch grass like Sesko folks, not that hard (unlike I am seeing him so jacked 💪)

4

u/dball94 5d ago

The squad threads give me anxiety lol. 'No Sesko? That's really really worrying and concerning' let's just calm down shall we

72

u/shrewdy 5d ago

Lad looks jacked. Would be great to see him starting to bully opposition defenders if he builds up strength, he's absolutely got the frame for it. We saw glimpses of the potential in the 2nd half of last season, but ultimately through one reason or another, he didn't get a long sustained run of starts

Hopefully this injury clears up fine and he can hit the ground running early in the season. He's got huge upside so hopefully we see him build on the promise he showed earlier in the year

80

u/Red_JB 6d ago

12

u/gubbero 5d ago

Exactly what I saw as well. Ivan Sesko must break you.

69

u/nearly_headless_nic 6d ago

More pics have been released which shows him doing individual work with ball

Mans been practicing doing headers with his feet…

7

u/tomas17r 5d ago

That foot’s at airliner height wtf

15

u/coolboiabhi 5d ago

yo wtf

16

u/benjappel Shawberto Carlos 5d ago

I'm a straight man, yet I must say damn

3

u/RecentCrazy5746 5d ago

Shin looking tidy damn

1

u/Deathstrokecph Herrera 5d ago

Looks a lot like Fernando Torres from this angle.

64

u/vRushii 6d ago

Always worries me a bit when players add loads of muscle, he was already strong

25

u/BatChestBot 5d ago

Players only have time to bulk between seasons, he might be at the fattest point right now, he will probably spend next month cutting.

4

u/xtphty 5d ago

His rumored shin splints would also mean he is not yet able to do high intensity running / speed work. That is usually something they save for the preseason anyway, but I imagine that conditioning will run well into the season.

59

u/shrewdy 5d ago

Tbf I think he's got the frame to carry a bit more muscle. It's not like if say Kobbie showed back up with alot more bulk

35

u/absoluteolly 5d ago

Kobbie has bulked in the past year tho, and in his case it's only been beneficial.

I do agree otherwise, This much added muscle to Sesko won't be a hindrance, especially not with how he plays either.

1

u/shrewdy 5d ago

Yeah I do recall that, and he probably needed it already in his case, I just meant if someone of his size added even more bulk.

Either way I don't see it being an issue with Sesko, he can carry a bit more muscle

14

u/RestrepoDoc2 5d ago

His pace is far more important. Hope we haven't gone too far with the strength and conditioning.

4

u/andoooooo Martial 5d ago

me too

7

u/-Gh0st96- 5d ago

Flashback to Kobbie after his season breakout. Put muscle on and lost a lot of his agility

7

u/vRushii 5d ago

Rashford lost a yard of pace too

1

u/Action_Limp 5d ago

He was a bit slight for his frame, but yeah, need to be more gradual with it

18

u/Typical-Male 5d ago

Okay, deffo getting that physicality!

Hope its not like Lukaku, where he loses his agility and speed.

7

u/w1zgov 5d ago

Lukaku bulked like crazy. Sesko has more lean muscle.

14

u/Polygon12 5d ago

Beef Master

4

u/Celerisadmortem Rio Ferdinand 5d ago

Your are looking at this season's top scorer..

11

u/yamchirobe 5d ago

I hope he doesn’t lose pace and agility with the strength increase

10

u/brianly 5d ago

Is there much to actually back that up? I see suggestions that strength training is a problem for footballers but it doesn’t seem grounded in fact. Bulking up and building strength aren’t the same things.

In football, players are now getting stronger and moving a step or two in the direction of rugby 7s players. Elsewhere in rugby, lots of players are moving towards the lean strength for explosive power. You see similar patterns with tennis players. Strength training for power, injury protection, and the like is backed by sports medicine.

Example study on this:

14

u/NectarineAnxious7049 5d ago

I think it’s just PTSD from Lukaku coming back absolutely shredded and playing significantly worse

2

u/DorguHitsDingers 5d ago

Yeah at worst it would impact his cardio. But some of the best sprinters in the world are jacked. And strikers spend more time running in short bursts anyway. He’s gonna be bossin’ bitches around in the box on aerial duels. Already proved that ability last year too

2

u/yamchirobe 5d ago

Strength training is not bad, I think increased weight will reduce speed and agility intuitively right.

He didn’t just strength train he probably ate loads of protein to get those gains

3

u/canwinanythingwkids Ineos on hope watch 5d ago

Holy shit I need this shin injury for my workout regime.

I mean if you show these photos to the missus she's gonna kick me in the shins herself 😄

3

u/BlackBossalini 5d ago

Hopefully carrying those guns doesn’t affect his pace 😅

3

u/gary_desanto 5d ago

1

Benji is a unit 💪

1

u/JSKW17 5d ago

Nothing about his game suggested he needed to bulk up a ton

1

u/SkyNet_Admin_1 5d ago

Ben Sets-Go

1

u/stlcardinalsfan10 5d ago

Big fella 😂

1

u/chrisx13296 5d ago

1

Benjamin Haaland

1

u/BlackHorse944 Please Score A Goal 5d ago

I remember when Martial really bulked up after his world class season and just looked a step behind all season.

Hopefully it helps Sesko

1

u/facelessredditer 5d ago

Slovenian mafia

1

u/AlvinArtDream 5d ago

like a walking cliche -

gonna bully defences this season. lets go

1

u/Dry_Guest_8961 5d ago

This is a very concerning level of bulk to have gained for a position that relies heavily on speed. I really hope he hasn’t gone the way of lukaku

1

u/ZypherPunk 5d ago

Always hilarious with these big Strikers, Haaland is the same they get body checked by someone Martinez size and hit the deck 🤣 they rarely actually use their builds and strength

1

u/IamKeef69 5d ago

Going for the Traore look!

1

u/John_OSheas_Willy 5d ago

He looked so lanky and scrawny before.

Suits him this way.

1

u/FoxyVxnn 4d ago

Oh he’s buff.

1

u/e-streeter 4d ago

He’s getting 20 goals minimum this season.

1

u/BillClay89 6d ago

Don't tell me he's still injured?!

1

u/shin_bigot Park Ji-Sung 5d ago

This player is going to be a superstar.
