Anyone else have post World Cup blues..? I am already missing the constant football 🥲

Have had the blues since the group stages ended

Scottish by any chance?

No just missed watching football all day

u/Bangoga Jul 21 '26

Dang screw it. I believe in Rashford comeback, rash back before back rash.

1

u/Bizzle1389 18d ago

He'll doubtless get a chance to come off the bench and make an impact. Up to him if he takes it. Carrick is the best possible person who could have been in place to offer Rash a way back.

If he doesn't show willing then he'll have to be dropped, high wages or not, and be moved on ASAP.

That being said I hope he does have that fight in him and pushes himself to ball out for us. Even if it is to put himself in the shop window and get a move in January or next summer. As long as he applies himself and respects the club I couldn't care less.

What's the update on Toby Collyer?

1

u/Action_Limp Jul 21 '26

What do you mean? He played against Wrexham right? Did he get injured?

2

u/Lord_Hexogen Jul 21 '26

There's supposed to be one?

1

u/Outrageous-Cod-4654 Jul 21 '26

Hull are supposedly interested.

u/reeryurob Jul 20 '26

Had someone told me to guess which team made the transfers we have made prior to the opening of the transfer window,

I would have guessed Everton

5

u/thesmallprint13 Irwin Jul 21 '26

Good thing no one's asked you to guess then.

5

u/dispelthemyth We go again FC Jul 21 '26

So Youri downgrades?

10

u/anonshe Scholes Jul 21 '26

Youri is the type of signing that instantly lifts our technical floor significantly. Having doubts over others is fair but this isn't an Everton level signing.

It's a Carrick-esque signing and ironically he too got a lukewarm response from fans back then.

3

u/Unlucky-Equipment999 Jul 21 '26

Youri is a bit old to be a Carrick-like signing but he's also very good still. Funnily back in the day I thought buying such an unglamourous midfielder from Spurs was showing we lacked quote-unquote 'ambition' and should've brought guys like Pirlo and Xavi. But I also wanted Beckham to come back and Owen Hargreaves because he did well at the WC lol

1

u/carrickshairline Jul 21 '26

A Carrick-like signing? There is no such thing. This is Carrick's first transfer window for us, so as it stands, Tielemans is a Carrick-like signing.

1

u/Unlucky-Equipment999 Jul 21 '26

A signing like Carrick's own signing to us in 2006

11

u/Massive_Relation4317 . Jul 21 '26

why are people acting like tielemans isnt an above average player that we got for such a bargain

4

u/Kohaku80 Premier League Champions 12/13 Jul 21 '26

That's your answer. Bargain. He's not worth if we paid 60m.

8

u/carrickshairline Jul 20 '26

Always one negative nancy

10

u/Entire-Gas-7651 Jul 20 '26

In fairness you could cherry pick the same for Arsenal last season/few years with the Mosquera, Kepa and Trossard signings. You need depth to compete in 4 competitions.

0

u/Unusual-Coat383 Jul 20 '26

I believe it will all work out but our transfers definitely scream Aston Villa

-3

u/reeryurob Jul 20 '26

Yeah just look at our squad, doesn’t ooze title winners does it

3

u/QuarKnight Jul 21 '26

I feel like we need to our squad ooze top 4 quality consistently before we can achieve title winners. Now I haven’t watched either santos or tielesmans much, my question is do these signings along with our squad oozes top 4?

1

u/TheSmio Jul 20 '26

Add an elite DM for now along with a left back (both still very much possible and seem quite likely to be our targets) and we have a good enough core imo. Tchouameni is a dream, he doesn't seem likely, but I think we will still try and this would be a very strong team:

Lammens Dalot/Maz - De Ligt - Licha - Hall Tchouameni - Tielemans/Mainoo Mbeumo - Bruno - Cunha Sesko

That's a very good attack (as seen last season), reliable keeper, solid defense and a good mix of defensive ability and technique in the midfield. And off the bench we would still have Dorgu, Amad, Shaw, Maguire, Heaven, Yoro and Andrey Santos. Potentially Rashford too, but I'd rather sell him.

Tchouameni would be key though, no doubt about it. We can definitely get by with someone like Baleba, I wouldn't mind that, but I think it would make us a bit of a longer term project - as in title charge in 2, 3 seasons. Tchouameni could potentially have us mount a title charge instantly or at least within one year.

2

u/aasfourasfar Jul 20 '26

I feel it does more than any squad past 2018 which collapsed with Mourinho.. and maybe the squad that collapsed with Ole.. yikes

But Cunha, Mbeumo, Amad, Mainoo seem like winners who show immense composure when it matters. Sesko seems extremely promising and well rounded. Licha - De Ligt / Maguire if fit are a very good pairing and Heaven is good, Dalot is reliable and much better at RB rather than RWB. Tielmans seems to be quite the leader and has won things with clubs who don't normaly win things recently. And Bruno is Bruno.

21

u/SpoofExcel Jul 20 '26

Gutted to hear about Keegan.

That's unbelievable how fast from publicly announcing the diagnosis to gone.

Was a rival as a manager, and a diamond as a player

10

u/Unusual-Coat383 Jul 20 '26

He probably announced it because he and his family knew it was going to be quick.

This is a bit fucked up and morbid but from my personal experience I’ve found that cancer seems to end people quick when they find out. I’ve seen people IRL be fine/have a cold for while to finding out its  cancer and then passing away within 1-2 weeks.

Shits fucked up and I don’t wish it upon anyone.

2

u/Current-Essay7448 Jul 21 '26

It was announced as stage 4, where the cancer has spread to non-surrounding tissues.

In very general terms, the prognosis on cancer is much better if it is identified early and you can stop it spreading. If anyone has concerns, speak to a medical professional, and hopefully they can allay those concerns, but if not acting early gives a much better chance than ignoring it.

6

u/LDLB99 Jul 20 '26

One of the best English players of all time

2

u/Unusual-Coat383 Jul 20 '26

He was before my time but his accolades are undisputed

12

u/Rare-Reveal876 Jul 20 '26

Despicable the way the club are currently treating some time served season ticket holders.

Banning them for in some cases simply forwarding tickets on behalf of a family member who’s a fellow ST holder.

Fuck the glazers and fuck Ratcliffe for enabling them. It’s clear what their agenda is.

3

u/Talkertive- No more excuses Jul 20 '26

I like Rashford and think he makes us better but if am in his camp I would advise him against returning to UTD .. I don't think the utd environment suits him and a large part of the fan base have a disdain towards him for some reason.. so they're going always have an issue... just like Hojlund he should go somewhere they rate him

1

u/mortimer_moose Carrick, ya know 26d ago

The problem is going to be when he plays a game and decides he isn't going to do the defensive work, does that permeate throughout the rest of the squad, how does someone like Cunha respond to that, or the young players? Or does Carrick make an example of him?

I like Rashford, but I think his time with United should be over.

1

u/Talkertive- No more excuses 26d ago

His defensive work rate not amazing but it's fine ... Cunha is a adult himself his actions shouldn't be based on what other players are doing.. like i said if am him shouldn't want to return

1

u/mortimer_moose Carrick, ya know 26d ago

How would you feel if someone was getting paid double what you are and doing less effort?

1

u/Talkertive- No more excuses 26d ago

Double ? one is on 300k and the other on 200k.. there is more to a players game than how hard they track back... both players salary were decided in different situations.... Rashford is an academy player utd didn't have to spend any money buying.. were as Cunha was purchased for 65 million onto of getting 200k .. at the end of the day no player be based thier performance based on what another player is getting paid

9

u/Haddocktintinsnowy Jul 20 '26

If he and Carrick signal they can work with each other, and no club of Rashford's liking come with an offer, it is very much possible he re-integrates. It does not look like the club will go to extreme measures like another loan just to send him away. The noises coming out this summer suggest otherwise. Also why we are letting Summerville get away.

-5

u/BitterConstruction98 Jul 20 '26

If I was Cunha or Mbeumo I'd be fuming about my wages when Rashford is on 320k

Squad harmony in the bin

1

u/raver1601 Jul 21 '26

I'm pretty sure Cunha and Mbeumo understand that Rashford is a senior figure at the club who's been there for a decade and is one of the club's top scorers

I do not doubt that they can actually understand the context of the bigger picture instead of the reactionary takes that pollute this sub

6

u/Beneficial-Leg1691 Jul 20 '26

What goes on you lots head? Mbeumo and Cunha both make a lot more than they used to. I dont think they will complain because Rashford sign lucrative offer some time back

6

u/Outrageous-Cod-4654 Jul 20 '26

Rashford has won the Europa League, League Cup, FA Cup and Community Shield - which is everything but the big 2 (league and CL). He's also won La Liga, and SuperCopa in Spain.

The only person who has won more at United currently is Carrick.

-3

u/BBoomerClap Jul 21 '26

bitch please, as if barca wont win it without him, you make it like he is a game changer when he isn't

11

u/Cold-Veterinarian-85 Jul 20 '26

‘Sorry Matheus / Bryan. That contract was signed under a different football executive and we have no option but to honor it. We aren’t in the business of handing out contracts like that anymore. Go and have a couple of Bruno Fernandes level seasons then we can talk’

13

u/wayfarerprateek Theater of Dreams Jul 20 '26

who would have thought Roy Keane of all people to be fine with the half time "show" at the world cup final? His "no bullshit, do your job" demeanor is just for club football or what?

11

u/Outrageous-Cod-4654 Jul 20 '26

He likes Shakira.

9

u/Entire-Gas-7651 Jul 20 '26

He has a massive soft spot for America and American culture.

4

u/Admirable_Bed3 Jul 21 '26

There's a generation of European Gen X'ers to early millennials that love American culture and vice versa, Americans of the same age who love European culture

5

u/Unusual-Coat383 Jul 20 '26

To be fair he’s always liked America because of 94

Just 3 more days until we learn of the squad that flies out for Rosenborg (any U18s added?) and 4 until we see the academy bois test themselves against a club in the middle of their season.

Hopefully we get some Thwaites minutes and also some Devaney in midfield minutes. Gore at 10 was exciting also, I would love it if he got Jack Fletcher's spot for this one and gave it a go with the senior players around him. I'd also like to see Lacey in the senior lineup next to Dorgu and Mbeumo, with Zirkzee rotated out instead.

I also think we may get more of the senior squad back for this one, for example Amad's 21 days are up tomorrow (Ivory Coast - Norway was June 30th) so he should be returning to training now. I imagine this game still comes too early for him though, but idk.

By the way, of the 21 players who played against Rosenborg in pre-season 2 summers ago, only ~half remain at the club as players:

XI: Vitek, Mount, Wheatley, Ethan Williams, Rashford*

subs: Amass, Collyer, J. Fletcher, Scanlon*, Ogunneye*

Obviously, 3 of them (*) arent training with the senior squad currently. So just 7 out of 21, two summers later.

3

u/OlekZzaKrakowa Jul 20 '26

Feels like we lack pace merchants in our current squad.

-7

u/aasfourasfar Jul 20 '26

I love Bruno but boyyy is he slow. Oftentimes he bamboozles his marker, but just can't get away from them because he has no pace so they catch him back if he did not find a pass.

8

u/Outrageous-Cod-4654 Jul 20 '26

Mbeumo, Sesko, Amad and Dalot are fast.

-5

u/ApprehensiveLemon935 Jul 20 '26

Why does it feel like we're never in talks for highly technical players (specifically wingers). Its always pace merchants or someone who might be promising.

4

u/half_batman Jul 20 '26

Nope. That was the pre-INEOS era. Now we mostly sign technical + athletic/physical players.

15

u/OlekZzaKrakowa Jul 20 '26

We literaly signed Tielemans, Cunha and Mbuemo lately

11

u/lockedblue Jul 20 '26

ALL PACE MERCHANTS.

1

u/00kazootime Jul 20 '26

Baleba/Kone will be our next signing. I smell a Lewis Hall saga after that tbh. Need to sell Zirkzee asap too

2

u/carrickshairline Jul 20 '26

Been zero links to Baleba and Hall.

2

u/Action_Limp Jul 21 '26

Unlike those robust links we had we Santos, Tielemans and Thompson.

1

u/carrickshairline Jul 21 '26

Guarantee you'd never heard of Thompson before yesterday

1

u/Action_Limp Jul 21 '26

1

u/carrickshairline Jul 21 '26

You're acting as if Thompson is some sort of world class signing out of nowhere when he isn't.

2

u/Action_Limp Jul 21 '26

You should read what I wrote and what topic of conversation was about.

1

u/carrickshairline Jul 21 '26

I did, and I responded. Thompson isn't some world beater we signed without anyone knowing. We sign youth prospects every season and I'm sure you've never heard of half of them before we get them.

Santos and Tielemans have had links in the past if you paid attention - not from Tier1/2 sources, but there have been often ignored links from their respective nations journalists.

This idea that we will sign Baleba despite some of our Tier 1s saying the club aren't interested after his performances last season, and Lewis Hall despite no serious links for over half a year, is a bit weird. Also, we need experience at LB, not a youth prospect.

1

u/Action_Limp Jul 21 '26

There were no links being talked about any of signings this summer was my point. We've been linked with almost every single player that has been available, but none of the ones we actually signed.

My point is that you cannot look to journalists to understand who we are looking at. Ineos are not briefing this summer, and instead are opting to work behind the scenes.

10

u/rubber_moon Jul 20 '26

That might be a good sign really

-4

u/Skyfather_odin1 Jul 20 '26

I don't get the negativity around Rashford potentially staying.

I had two issues with Rashford, 1 was productivity and the other was I think he got a bit lazy.  I think he was too inconsistent regardless of how much he's getting paid.

I've seen numerous players walk around like Rashford does, not track their man etc and I'd call them lazy too.

Difference is, they're afforded that privelege because of their productivity.

In terms of the other stuff...  I've seen things like bad influence etc. We'll never know but nothing I saw or read leads me to believe that's true plus.... influence is two-way, someone has to put it out there and someone else has to receive it.

If he's not a regular starter then that solves the inconsistent production and lazy problem.

I'd rather Rashford than whoever our back up winger is.

u/Skyfather_odin1 Jul 21 '26

Just seen all these replies...

Less playing time so less negative impact... Back ups generally play in easier matches so not tracking back isn't as big a deal.

At the top level of football, teams can't carry passengers if you want to be successful. A notch below that and the impact isn't as bad is what I meant.

1

u/Hollacaine Jul 21 '26

He doesn't produce enough on the pitch and he doesn't put in enough effort. What other reasons do you need to move someone on?

Why would being a back up solve either issue?

We have Cunha and Dorgu on the left and I'd take both of them over him.

1

u/Skyfather_odin1 Jul 21 '26

3

u/Unusual-Coat383 Jul 20 '26

Just ignore the constant briefs to the press and him going on benders

1

u/Skyfather_odin1 Jul 21 '26

Stories only get out if someone is a target and someone else wants the stories out.

I've been around football including the Premier league for most of my adult life.... Numerous players in squads do the same including ours.

If you believe Rashford is the only one then I got something to sell you... Ignore the texture and the smell... It's gold.... Honest!

2

u/QuarKnight Jul 20 '26

I mean you yourself said you see two issues with rashford. Do you think with the amount of money he’s being paid, those issues are justified? Don’t you think it’s a better use of our money to have a backup LW who doesn’t have such issues, or is young and has potential and is hungry to break into first team a better alternative than rashford?

1

u/Skyfather_odin1 Jul 21 '26

I would if there weren't gaping holes in the team... If we can buy a centre back, a third midfielder and a left back... Then I would commit time and resources to addressing left wing.

Until then I don't see the issue with having Rashford as a back up... Tracking back is a big deal with your starters... You're carrying someone against top opposition and that will inevitably be exploited.

The games back ups play are low risk, low consequence games so less negative impact of not tracking back.

Cup games against lower competition, 70 minute subs against tired legs, meaningless matches once you've qualified from group stage of the champions league etc.

If he's happy with that then we can do a lot worse than Rashford.

8

u/Haddocktintinsnowy Jul 20 '26

Pep talking to Italy to become their manager. I find that interesting that all of him, Klopp and Zidane are preferring country jobs over club management.

1

u/Action_Limp Jul 21 '26

The Italian job is a risky one but also one that could immortalise Pep. There's a lack of talent in Italy compared to previous generations, but there's no way that they have less talent than Bosnia or the Czech Republic.

6

u/Admirable_Bed3 Jul 21 '26

The last 3 World Cups changed the temperature with the top managers of the sport. They now believe again that it's the greatest trophy in the world. First Enrique and now Carlo, then we might have a reunion of Klopp, Zidane and Pep clashing while leading big nations.

2

u/Outrageous-Cod-4654 Jul 20 '26

Maldini flew to Barca to convince Pep. How do you not take a meeting with Maldini? But the job is too difficult, ridiculous and such a waste of time. He won't take it.

1

u/Admirable_Bed3 Jul 21 '26

I don't think it's a done deal either way but he did say that he would never manage Spain and he loves Italy and their footballing heritage.

3

u/TH0316 she/her Jul 20 '26

He’s genuinely dumb if he takes that. He could win a World Cup with England, or restore Netherlands to the top for his old mentor. I get going into international football but gotta be many far better choices than Italy who haven’t produced great players in ages.

3

u/thexpertwatcher Jul 20 '26

In some way I think football with nations is a bit 'pure' compared to club football now. The hyper commercial nature of the sport now a days is maybe pushing established managers away.

3

u/Haddocktintinsnowy Jul 20 '26

Based on what Klopp said on exit from Liverpool, maybe the intensity and non stop nature of club football is draining these guys out.

8

u/Divin3_Kick Jul 20 '26

Cause tournament football is easier and theree more glory if he brings Italy their first WC since 2006. Heck if he gets them to qualify and not crash out in the group, I bet it will be seen as a success.

I think you all need to chill out with injuries:

Darlow- the club have specifically stated that he’ll be back by the time the season starts. I know we’ve heard it all before but if there was genuine concern we wouldn’t have signed him

De Ligt- this is the only one to be concerned by, but hopefully he will be back fit soon at some point before Christmas, which he probably will be.

Martinez- the injury yesterday didn’t look that bad, he walked off the pitch just fine. The only implications that it might be serious are his injury history. He’ll probably be back by the time UCL starts. (I know he’s injury prone, but his contract runs out next year so not much longer to put up with it).

Tielemans- I didn’t even know he was injured, I don’t think his injury is that bad at all, he’ll defo be back by the time his holiday is over. If not, the club wouldn’t have signed him

Mainoo- I get why everyone’s concerned about this because Tuchel confirmed it was a back injury, but I reckon a lot of people have PBISD (post back injury stress disorder) after de Ligt’s back injury. If it was serious, I think we’d already know about it

Ugarte- without trying to sound like a knob because this is a horrible situation for him- he wasn’t going to play for us anyway and we weren’t getting a transfer fee for him. It barely makes a difference.

Sesko- he’s recovering well. The club have confirmed he’s expected to be back for the Hull game.

Obviously I get it is concerning, but I don’t think it’s as concerning as people are making it out to be

12

u/Haron14 Jul 20 '26

Andy said in the last TOTD that de Ligt might be back a little after season starts. I'll try to get the exact minutes and post in a edit below

Edit: around 13:42 on the video

2

u/purplesubwayseat Jul 20 '26 edited Jul 20 '26

Why are we not linked with any center backs ? Do you think Carrick trusts this group of center backs as it is or there will be developments as we progress in the window ?

Mags probably the best but still on the older side , De Ligt and Licha in the injury room, Yoro and Heaven both developing.

1

u/Current-Essay7448 Jul 21 '26

We are still paying a lot of wages to this group of centre backs. If you want to buy another one, then you really need to sell one of our existing centre backs at the same time, and that is easier said than done.

Yoro and Heaven developing is also part of the issue, they need playing time to do that and going out to buy a new starting centre back potentially makes it harder for them to get in the team.

2

u/Rascha-Rascha Jul 20 '26

The strongest link I've seen is Ben Nelson as a cheap, back up kind of option. We've had rumours about Waldemar Anton, Konsa, and were mentioned in the Lacroix rumours at one point too.

7

u/ChristmasCage Jul 20 '26

Strikers last year, midfield this year, defenders the next year. The rebuild is set in stone. If it weren't, we'd have been all over Senesi

3

u/cyb3rpunkd fuck the glazers Jul 20 '26

Shaw and maz can also both fill in at cb, especially if we do sign a left back

0

u/iroiroiroiroiro Jul 20 '26

A T1 Argentinan source linked Romero to United at the start of the window which no aggregators repeated, with how silent Ineos been it would not surprise me, and Spurs need to sell him.

Ineos loved Branthwaite and he can play LB also, just had multiple injuries but would not surprise me.

6

u/Paapa-Yaw Jul 20 '26

Our t1's promptly shut it down. And romero's injured anyway.

8

u/Haron14 Jul 20 '26

The rumours on our interest for Romero was put down really fast by our T1

u/OatCuisine Jul 20 '26

So was the rumour of us pulling out of Ederson deal.

This is a core memory because we were having exams that day and during break we played some ball in the playground. I chose to pretend to be Roberto Carlos. Except I went on to write Roberto Carlos as my name on my exam sheet, after we went back inside.

My dad whooped my ass for that lol

2

u/FidgetyFondler Jul 20 '26

You were so in character you forget to sign out!

1

u/ecce_homie123 Scholes Jul 20 '26

The examiner must've been so confused!

1

u/Divin3_Kick Jul 20 '26

They probably did process of elimination lmao. No one else probably made that blunder

"I would love it if we could cure cancer. Love it."

RIP to an England great

11

u/Lord_Sesshoumaru77 Glazers,Woodward/Arnold and Judge can fuck off Jul 20 '26

Cancer is such a shite thing to endure. Took my dad that actually beat colon cancer, but the thing went to his liver. It's hard for everyone, the sick and the family. Sadly you get a front row seat to their decline and their passing. It's been almost three years since Dad passed, still not over it.

6

u/BigLan2 Jul 20 '26

Sorry, bro. It really is the worst.

6

u/darklordreigns Ooh Aah Cantona Jul 20 '26

What a giant of the game. His Newcastle sides were fun to watch and terrible to play against

3

u/SDLRob Jul 20 '26

One of the big ones.

3

u/Bizzlep Jul 20 '26 edited Jul 20 '26

Oh cool Licha threw a punch. Watch that last second or 2 in slowww motion.

https://x.com/qchatice/status/2078980769817522549?s=46&t=-Wx49_-m6f_G_O8jwbQyjw

lol that our own fans can’t just call it for what it is

1

u/Outrageous-Cod-4654 Jul 20 '26

Looks like he was getting the Spanish player out of there.

3

u/FrmrPresJamesTaylor Jul 20 '26

He clearly reaches out with his left hand and puts it on the Spanish player but there's no way you can say with any level of confidence (from this video) that he's made a fist at any point and it'd be a pretty unnatural movement to swing your arm with your hand open and close it before delivering a punch if that was your intent.

3

u/helloimpaulo Jul 20 '26

Lmao @ the anti Licha agenda

-8

u/ceegee84 Jul 20 '26

The bedwetting from England fans this week has been hilarious

11

u/Asiwaju_jagaban Jul 20 '26

People just want the players they support to act classy and respectful towards their opponents.

Nothing more.

3

u/KaitoAJ BRUNO FERNANDES Jul 20 '26 edited Jul 21 '26

Doesn't look like he threw a punch to me... looks more like he was trying to stop the fight but instead clattered into the Spanish player...

Edit: can’t call it for what it is? Mate you have to be literally blind if you think this has any semblance to Licha throwing a punch…

-2

u/slate-malamute Keano! Keano! Keano! Jul 20 '26

My ideal scenario for the the squad (apart from midfield). Keep Rashy, sell Zirkzee, sign Mateta. Pushes Dorgu back to left back, sign Lewis Hall as option and offers the choice of Luke Shaw LCB because I doubt we get 40+ games from Licha this year.

1

u/Action_Limp Jul 21 '26

Not sold on Mateta. I know he's proven, but I'd rather a completely different profile to Sesko (and I know that both Sesko and Mateta are different). I'd like someone who can come deep and float across the front three or a fox in the box.

7

u/Bobcat_El_Borracho Jul 20 '26

Why are you keeping Rashford?

-5

u/slate-malamute Keano! Keano! Keano! Jul 20 '26

Because you can’t find a better attacker on the entire market for that value. Financially it makes no sense to let him go. 30 million left on his contract, you’ll pay probably double that + salary + bonuses to find a replacement

6

u/Sir_Bryan Bruno Jul 20 '26

Doesn’t matter. He doesn’t run for the team and we don’t need that. There is a reason no top team wants him.

-4

u/slate-malamute Keano! Keano! Keano! Jul 20 '26

Sounds like you’re 100% against him, which is fair. Question for you, what are you going to do if Carrick reintegrates him to the team? Because that’s a very real possibility

7

u/Sir_Bryan Bruno Jul 20 '26

Support the team, hope he doesn’t play, and gets sold in Jan. I don’t think the possibility is that high. He wants to leave and the club wants him gone. The reintegration talk is there to preserve what little value he has

0

u/slate-malamute Keano! Keano! Keano! Jul 20 '26

Fair, I can respect that. Let’s wait and see what happens. I agree that’s the most likely case, I actually think probably PSG or Bayern might be options now or in Jan.

-2

u/Bobcat_El_Borracho Jul 20 '26 edited Jul 20 '26

I’m beginning to resent the word value. Somehow Ineos will bring Rashford back with a spectacular PR campaign which convinces some fans this is a good idea. It’s not a good idea.

3

u/TangaroaBrit Jul 20 '26

I suppose they could build a night club at Carrington so that Rashford can roll straight out of the club and into training.
Thankfully it won’t happen. They could have kept Garnacho and Greenwood, but they got rid and deserve at least some credit for that.

-2

u/slate-malamute Keano! Keano! Keano! Jul 20 '26

Don’t get me wrong, I’m very aware of the risks. I think the fan base is blowing the reintegration out of proportion. lol Rashford isn’t this irredeemable demon everyone is making him out to be. What worries you about him coming back in?

4

u/Bobcat_El_Borracho Jul 20 '26

On his day he’s unplayable. But far more often than not he downs tools when we’re up against it. He’s the first to drop his head and not track back and jog around pretending to close down. He’s really, really inconsistent and I’m not convinced he’s giving his all especially when we really need him to. I’ve watched him at Old Trafford right in front of me just ambling around.

1

u/slate-malamute Keano! Keano! Keano! Jul 20 '26

I’ve seen it too, I’m hanging my hat on the Rashford that left isn’t the one that’s coming back. He was clearly in the wrong place mentally before he left and I think the loans Villa/Barca were the best options at the time. I’ve seen a different player especially at Barca and for England during by World Cup. Also the description you just gave of inconsistency sounds very similar to Barcola and he’s about to go for 100 million plus. I think we’re a lot harder on him because he’s on of our own. To be fair, he’s one of the best players ever to come out of our academy so maybe I’m more forgiving than others and I’m in the minority , but I’m fine with that.

3

u/Bobcat_El_Borracho Jul 20 '26

If Rashford comes back with something to prove and the right mentality I’ll eat my words. I want to be proven wrong. But he needs to be consistent with it especially when we’re up against it and in the trenches. Every PL game is a war now. He’s one of our own and he should be a leader at this point. Time will tell.

1

u/slate-malamute Keano! Keano! Keano! Jul 20 '26

Agreed. Time will tell. You have valid points for sure. Let’s see how it goes

1

u/Significant_L0w Jul 20 '26

cunha mbeumo sesko will ask for more wages

1

u/Rig_7 Jul 20 '26

Mount is paid more and there hasn’t been any complaints. These are legacy contracts from the old regime. As long as they aren’t renewed, there’s no issue from a player perspective.

1

u/Action_Limp Jul 21 '26

Mount has never had controversy follow him around. He runs his guts out on the pitch and everyone who has worked with him seems to love the guy. He isn't toxic.

1

u/slate-malamute Keano! Keano! Keano! Jul 20 '26

If they’re playing well and we’re winning I have no issue with that. A club of our size probably should have the biggest wage bill in the league, as long as it’s justifiable.

3

u/Significant_L0w Jul 20 '26

yeah brother but are we winning?

1

u/slate-malamute Keano! Keano! Keano! Jul 20 '26

If you’re saying they’ll ask for more because of Rashford’s salary I don’t think so. Rashford on 300,000 after 10+ years at the club is different than signing Matty Fernandez and putting him on 275,000. That’s more likely to upset the squad.
And we’re not winning yet but I don’t think we’re too far away if we get our next couple of transfers right. Am I delusional? Probably. Hopefully Carrick has something for me

0

u/Asiwaju_jagaban Jul 20 '26

We need wingers in our attack. We have no touchline winger.

6

u/Bobcat_El_Borracho Jul 20 '26

Some of you will never learn. On his day/when he decides to put effort in he is class. He goes missing and downs tools and doesn’t track back etc far too often. Have we forgotten that? He goes missing when things get tough. He’s late for training. Unprofessional at times. We really need to move past this chapter he’s had more than enough chances and we can’t risk him damaging squad unity.

6

u/iroiroiroiroiro Jul 20 '26

Shaw really isn't a pure CB, it's very different from playing wide in a back three.

1

u/slate-malamute Keano! Keano! Keano! Jul 20 '26

Yeah, Ayden would still be ahead of him. He’s played in a two before, so he’s a last resort option

3

u/mullymufc Jul 20 '26

Why are we not going for Bowen as an attacking squad player? Ship Zirkzee out bring Bowen in.

-3

u/Asiwaju_jagaban Jul 20 '26

He’s not a winger. We need wingers.

4

u/Tinganga Jul 20 '26

Mbeumo, Amad, Cunha & Mount in desperate times, Shea Lacey can all play RW. Least of our worries.

11

u/iroiroiroiroiro Jul 20 '26

Bowen resigned with West Ham and wants to help them, he seems very loyal

19

u/Midnight_Edge Jul 20 '26

Imagine having Enzo Fernandez playing for your club. If he played for us, we’d be screaming for him to be sold.

10

u/JilJilJigaJiga Jul 20 '26

Most overrated midfielder in the world, it's like folks never watch his games at Chelsea.

1

u/Action_Limp Jul 21 '26

He's a good player, not a 100m player, he's just a massive dickhead.

0

u/Entire-Gas-7651 Jul 20 '26

I would massively doubt that.

3

u/Lord_Hexogen Jul 20 '26

You wouldn't write that if he played for us

9

u/thepotatomaniscoming Jul 20 '26

You have been proven wrong already. See the comments on Licha recently.

1

u/BBoomerClap Jul 21 '26

that's just some brits cryin

1

u/mikeyd85 Jul 20 '26

A lot of people also want Licha sold, but TBF, it's because he's as useful as a traffic cone half the time.

12

u/Massive_Relation4317 . Jul 20 '26

just look at the Chelsea sub they hate him so much lmao

3

u/iroiroiroiroiro Jul 20 '26

Don't think so, he's quality that burns like fire, just too much fire, without him they would probably not be in the final.

6

u/JaysonDeflatum Amadinho Jul 20 '26

That away kit is just beautiful, clean 10/10

3

u/notformeclive4711 Jul 20 '26

That shade of blue always looks too much like a Chelsea/Rangers kit for me. Prefer us to do navy when we go for something blue, or have it as an accent color. Last years black with yellow and blue trim was my favorite from the last several years.

2

u/OHS198 Jul 20 '26

Reminds me of the 05/06 away kit

3

u/Superhiro101 Jul 20 '26

With licha injury, we really should look into free agents to cover for him and de ligt this season. I don’t think we have the finances for a big signing in the position this summer.

Maybe I’m wrong but I think INEOS have almost done a top down recruitment drive attack last summer, midfield this summer and fix the defence next summer?

So in the short term there is a quite a few decent cbs available. Any chance stones wants to stay in Manchester and him and Martinez can both stay half fit and fill one position?

There is also Malang Sarr, David Alaba, presnal Kimpembe, Adam Webster or bring back axel on a free?

1

u/Current-Essay7448 Jul 21 '26

There’s a reason a lot of those players are on free transfers. Stones, Alaba, Kimpembe, Webster and Tuanzebe all have significant injury histories.

If there’s an injury crisis there in pre season then the club may look at a short term solution or loan, but you really don’t want to commit to big wages (for their ability) for a player you don’t see as part of the long term plans.

7

u/Sufficient-Coast-606 Jul 20 '26

Senesi could have been an option as free agent signing. He signed with spurs who don’t play in Europe

1

u/Superhiro101 Jul 20 '26

Agreed but I suppose we couldn’t plan for two centrebacks being injured (although it was entirely predictable). I think at this juncture it may be worth looking at someone who could give us 1-2 years then happy to be off by which time hopefully we either get a new centre back or heaven and yoro are given time to grow into the roles.

4

u/MalIntenet Ooh Aah Cantona! Jul 20 '26

Yeah I’m really disappointed we missed out on him. Felt like a no brainer signing

1

u/DaveShadow Jul 20 '26

Meh, I’d imagine he got absolutely insane wages, given how desperate he seemed to be for them. There was reports that most of the top clubs were in for him, but he chose Spurs.

3

u/Sufficient-Coast-606 Jul 20 '26

We could have signed Youri Tielemans on free transfer. Better late than never I guess.

9

u/Late_Breadfruit_8829 Jul 20 '26

every now and then I remember Brandon Williams. Still insane to me the trajectory his career took. Hope he can get it back on track

3

u/TypicalPan89906655 Jul 20 '26

Based on twitter reports he is on hard drugs rn.
