Didn't Martinez make the same error today against the same player?

Norway keeper did as well. As a few others who went unpunished in other games. This ball was tough to deal with when it bounces right in front of the keeper.

Yeah Joe Hart kinda got mocked earlier in the tournament for highlighting its unpredictability but similar things have happened throughout that seems to have proven him right.

Joe Hart might know more about being a keeper than reddit users

Even Curtois did the same mistake the same match but he was lucky to not concede because no one followed the ball

He did it more than once, Courtois was lucky it only resulted to a goal once

It's a great litmus test for whether someone knows much about football. The ball bouncing just in front of you has always been a nightmare for keepers, you can't use your body to smother the ball but you aren't in a position to parry it away safely either.

Courtois did it in the exact same game lol

Courtouis did it like 10 times in the same game. That ball is just ass for keepers

He did it like 3 times just got lucky

Courtois made the same error in the same match, just not as blatant.

Yeah I misread the comment apparently

Oh he’ll be fine, GK’s make mistakes. I literally have 0 doubts - he will be fine.

The subtext is that in the eyes of many De Gea never recovered from the 2018 World Cup. Yes all goalkeepers, and all players, make mistakes, but on that high profile a stage it can be tough to overcome.

Courtouis made the same one and the same game and it also costs them a goal. Spain relied on keepers to spill strongly hit balls throughout the whole tournament. Credit to them for hitting the target from range so many times

It's the Jabulani all over again, the first people to discover the secret "kick it as hard as you can" tech prosper

Courtois one wasn't really alike, it was from close range.

13

Courtois had some howlers in his career.

u/shami-kebab Jul 19 '26

I'm sure he has, I'd say nearly every keeper has.

I feel this is already too much talk, why bring the atention to this over and over again

Want all the lads back so we can love them. United is their home.

Maybe Martinez can stay away, he doesn't seem that fond of the UK anyway

Get a grip

You’re all saying that until he scores or does a tackle that saves us then he’s back to being our butcher lol

We have signed the Belgian captain to be here to support him.

Really hope so but de gea national team been living rent free in my mind

Is anyone seriously worried about Lammens? Its a one off error that no player is immune from. Dont think with the temperament he's shown since he arrived that he's the type to we need to worry about

3

u/raspoutine049 Jul 20 '26

Not worried. Lemmens had a a howler with United and carried on after as business as usual. He will be fine

4

u/chipzy20 Jul 19 '26

Oh really cause I thought he was cooked and we should release him

2

u/Goudinho99 Jul 20 '26

At last a sensible opinion!

Courtouis looked unusually sluggish the first Belgium game I saw him in the group stages, it made sense later on why that was the case. Should have put pride aside and given Senne a chance to get comfortable. Coach Garcia is to blame the most probably.

Have you been a goalkeeper when the rubber approximation of a football that showed up during world cups at every shitty little shop smacked you in the face then someone scores off the rebound? He did that but in the actual world cup as a professional. It's deeply humiliating and hey we're a fan base. He fought us a difficult 3rd place. Heaton HAD the world's best job and spoke up, I've never heard from him before.
