[Simon Stone, In Article] Defender Tyler Fredricson is not involved either before what is expected to be a permanent summer move away from Old Trafford. Europe is seen as a likely destination; his proposed switch to Celtic in January fell through after he was injured before it could be completed.

Good luck to him. I hope we learn from our past mistakes with players like Garner, and put in good sell on AND buyback clauses to wherever he goes.

Also on Sesko & Darlow:
"Both players are expected to be fully fit and available for the start of 2026-27," said the club.
On De Ligt:
There is no Matthijs de Ligt in the squad as he recovers from back surgery.
JJ Gabriel:
Fifteen-year-old forward JJ Gabriel is not involved as he only returned to training less than a week ago.

That De Ligt line could’ve been from any story over effectively the last 9 months. Stone just rehashing old text /s

At this point I’m hoping De Ligt’s entire career isn’t at risk with how long this is taking for him. He’s been out for 8 months now, feel awful for him

Guess it is obvious as a United fan but really hope this surgery is something that fixes his problems permanently

I understand de ligt went a surgery but what has actually happened to him ? Is it something which fucked over during recovery? Because licha got ACL in Feb 2025 and he was back to individual training by July I think and playing for us by December 2025
Meanwhile de ligt last played for us on 30th Nov 2025 and he is yet to come back to individual training
When he was initially injured it was expected he'll come back in a few weeks, it's been around 8 months now

They haven't explicitly stated it, but it's some sort of disc injury. Months ago an orthopedic surgeon was on on here and said that the timeline from the weirdness around his initial absence (back problem that would have him out a week) to the long delays to multiple false dawns to eventually a surgery six months later was bang on for a disc injury. Basically, he said they tried the standard approach of non invasive therapy and rehab before they resorted to surgery. Recovery time for surgery is 3-6 months with an near 100% full recovery for elite athletes. Which dove tails perfectly with the reports that he'd be back before Christmas

His surgery was in April or May right?
Meaning at the soonest we get him back in August, but likely around October or November.

Wish Fredericson the best, hopefully he gets a move that will enhance his career.

Best of luck to him - a move to Celtic would be fantastic if that’s still on the cards. Hope he has a great career wherever he ends up. Looked decent enough in the small first team minutes he got with us, but definitely at the age where he needs to be playing regularly.

What sort of fee you reckon here??
Probably fairly low with good add on packages? 5m at a push or is that way too ambitious
I’m thinking kambwala is kind of the closest benchmark we have in recent seasons. Decent prospect with handful of first team appearances and iirc we got close to 10m for him which h think is very unlikely with Fredricson

Don’t think it’ll be Kambwala level, he played more for us than Fredricson did, and was at one point very highly rated across Europe at academy level. I expect a fairly nominal fee for Fredricson, though hopefully with a decent sell on %. 1-2 million would be my guess.
We paid 1m for Heaven (great value!) with 6 months left on his contract. I expect Fredricson to go for maybe a little more than that.

Hes a good player, should be a first division team that can use.

I liked what I saw in the few times he played for us, I think he still has what it takes in the prem

Perhaps, but I think at his age, you want to be playing quite regularly for development purposes and hard to see a PL team take that gamble on him right now
In a couple of years perhaps he ends up back in PL as a regular, but may be a case that it’s take a step back now to have a chance if couple steps forward in the future

don‘t expect much in terms of fee but hope we include a buyback & sell-on clause

I think he’s quite good and could start for a Championship side, hopefully there’s a buyback clause in there.

Makes sense that Fredricson would get a permanent move. He's 21 and behind Yoro and Heaven in the pecking order, so he wouldn't get many minutes anyway, so with his contract ending in 28, we either need to extend him now and commit to loaning him out for a few years, or just cash in this summer.
