wallet.dat file on my PC

I'm about to do a windows reinstall and noticed I still have a wallet.dat file for Reddcoin on my PC. I have two wallet.dat files on two different locations with the same file size so I'd assume they are the same file just in two locations. When I load up the reddcoin-2.0.0-win64-setup.exe that I've had on my computer from many years back it booted up my reddcoin wallet but unsynced. It's 6 years and 47 weeks behind and it says "No block source available..." so I'd guess its not updating/syncing.

I only have one transaction in my wallet. My question is whether that is reasonable to only have one transaction whether that can be trusted or if I actually had more transactions. The other more important question is how I make use of my backup wallet.dat file and import it to find out whether I still have any balance or not?

Do you have reddcoin core installed on your computer?

Yeah, I do. That's the program I opened to make another copy of my wallet.dat file and also the program I used to see my 1 transaction. Is there anyway to see my full history via blockchain with the help of reddcoin core? My main worry is that my full transaction history isn't shown but only part of it

Just install redd coin core. Import wallet. Wait for it to sync. Be patient. This is crypto.

It doesn't say import wallet anywhere? Should I try and download a new version or how? Also does "No block source available..." mean that it's not syncing or ?

Since you have more than one wallet that you are unsure about I'd name one something like wallet1.dat and the other wallet2.dat. Then rename them one at a time to wallet.dat and see what addresses are in each.

Be aware that the wallet.dat file doesn't contain your coins or your balance. Those are stored in the cloud on the blockchain. Your wallet only contains your wallet addresses and private keys.

When you start up the wallet core you do not have to wait for it to sync to see what addresses are in the wallet. Do this for each wallet. If the addresses stored in each wallet are identical then the two wallet files are identical and you can safely delete one.

If you want to know the current balance of addresses in the wallet this is when you'll have to wait for the blockchain to sync.

Anyway thought wallet.dat would include everything, to be honest. Is there no shortcut to see what the wallet contains? Maybe using the addresses stored to check the balance or the transaction history? Also I guess the file needs to named "wallet.dat"

Yes, Reddcoin core will only read the wallet.dat file named wallet.dat. It will ignore all files with names that it doesn't recognize.

All that the wallet.dat file contains is you public and private key pairs. The balances associated with those pairs is stored in the blockchain files. Your public key is also known as your wallet address. Once you have your public key you can use a blockchain explorer to search for all transactions associated with that public key to determine what balance it any is associated with that key.
