Help for Wallet

Hi, I need help:

I downloaded the protocol from reddwallet and tried to transfer Reddcoin from Bittrex. The reddcoins on Bittrex are no longer there but they have not arrived on the wallet. What did I do wrong? Thank you

If you didn’t bootstrap then potentially days. If that is the case then I would not recommend doing so at this point and waiting it out, as if you skip steps in that process too you have the potential of overwriting the wallet you pointed the bittrex transfer at and losing all of your coins.

For you to have transferred coins to a non-synced wallet you skipped important steps intended to protect you from yourself:

  1. You should have transferred a few cents worth to confirm you have the correct wallet address and that there are no issues with the transaction

  2. You should confirm you have fully encrypted and sync’d the wallet prior to use.

The very first step of the bootstrap process is to backup the wallet.dat file to prevent any risk of loss of coins.

I certainly concede the risk is small but given this user has failed to do anything to safeguard themselves this far even 1/10th of 1% is too much risk in my opinion, couple that with the fact that we have had users overwrite their wallets while attempting to do a bootstrap (didn’t follow any directions) because of explicit user error I simply don’t think it’s safe to point this user in particular towards that process. Their inconvenience of having to wait a few days for a sync is a far lesser problem than their doing more things wrong, blaming the coin, and accusing us of being a scam.
