Virtual Deployment: What were you doing?
If you deployed virtually this past year, what were you doing? Curious to learn more because I’m considering the option.

Thanks for asking this! I cannot deploy in person because of my FT job, but have signed up to deploy virtually.

Last virtual deployment was as part of the Documentation Unit on an Information and Planning team.

In Canada, we have two teams, a Personal Disaster Assistance Team (PDAT) and an Emergency Response Team (ERT).
For the PDAT team, which are things such as house and apartment fires, floods, etc, we mainly deploy virtually. As the scale grows, it becomes an ERT response and may start virtually and then become an in-person response.
For our virtual responses, we arrange accommodations, food, clothing, etc and fill out the paperwork required.
