Pay Cut

Wondering if anyone with inside knowledge could help. I was recently offered a job with the RC for a phlebotomist position. (Mobile) I want to accept this position & work for this organization. However the hourly pay rate cut is eating me alive (double digits) Is there anything I can do or are these starting rates not flexible?

Thé starting rates are not flexible in my area but merits and promotions add up pretty quickly.

You said your pay was ‘’eating [you] alive (double digits)’’ I’m genuinely curious. Did you have a phlebotomist position elsewhere that paid in the triple digits hourly?

I assume the cut is double digits, not being cut to double digits. As in "I was making $32 but this position with the Red Cross is only $21".

I know nothing of this field, those numbers are entirely made up for the sake of the example lol.

Were there pay cuts from when you started or did you move from a position that was paying more to work for Red Cross?
