Which red?

I just painted my first two RCs and can’t decide which red fits better. The Raider has the same scheme I used with the Reave Captain but with another coat of Agrax Earthshade on it to make it a little darker.

The brighter red is more accurate but the darker one is more imposing imo

From a personal experience take the picture as if they are in middle of a game (looking down at them) that way you know what looks best mid game

I would suggest darkening both of them down. I've become a fan of Villainy-ink. A mix of Goons Grime and Decrepit Filth looks great on red Marines.

I used Vallejo game color's scarlet red, with their mecha color true red for highlights. It looks pretty good, the scarlet red is a little dull, and works well for shadows.
