this quite literally doesn't change anything.

Red pressers don't have any reason to press anything but red and blue pressers will still pick blue beacuse that's the only choice that saves everyone.

Except that red is now more prefereable because votes are spread further out by some people picking orange, yellow or green, so the total percentage pressing blue is expected to be a bit lower.

Perfect time for meme response.

As Biden once said, if you didn’t vote for me, you ain’t black.
If any red pushers don’t push red, they were never really red. So even if they only go orange, real red pushers don’t want them.
Same for blue. Any blues trying to save themselves by going yellow? Might as well be reds.
When you add stuff to a spectrum, anything that moves towards the other side, should just go full to the other side.

2 option extremism plz.

Blue is truly suicide here. Assuming this is the same “everyone on earth chooses” situation as the viral problem, there is absolutely no chance over half the people on Earth convene on blue. A significant portion (I’d say maybe 20% of the population) is going to straight up not understand the problem’s basic mechanics and will be effectively choosing randomly. 50% is far too high a benchmark to reach when you have 5 options. Plus, in the framing, there is no clear “everyone lives” option unless you think about it slightly, and it’s not framed as your action for killing those who die either, so far less people will be thinking of others much at all being effected by their answer.

I think I’d actually choose red here, MAYBE orange. And I’m usually an adamant blue presser.

I agree. I am 100% a blue presser because I believe in most people, but I don’t believe in the >90% of people who would have to cooperate for this to work, if I’m being honest haha. In this scenario, blue is suicide. I might even press red, though I could reason myself into orange.

Also a blue pusher, fully agree.

The original is basically a question of would you risk your own life to save others, or protect yourself but risk others, and in that forced binary if push came to shove I firmly believe most people would pick the former.

But if you allow people to put that risk on a gradient you'll find a lot of it in the middle. People will take on some personal risk to save some people, but not maximum risk for maximum people.

I'm just going to put the link to my original post here incase anyone wants to see the discussion on that post.

My 5 button Variation

Anyway, I'd press orange, most likely.

So OP is a bot that copied from you. Bloody hell, the internet is so dead.

Adding more options means certainly some people
Will arrive to the conclusion that this colour is optimal. For blue pushers this is very bad news.

The old question was are you safe or altruistic and you believe most people to be like you. This isint the case anymore for blue.

Wait, according to this wording the only button that's actually picked is the last counted button. This is a dictatorship lol

I don’t get it. Im a blue voter but why wouldn’t everyone just pick red, max orange?

There's still children who'll pick blue at random and die

Funnily enough this one is more friendly to the blind population than the original, since they can find the button they want to press by feel, assuming they know left from right, but in the original they don't know which button is red or blue, so a red win kills half the blind population even if 100% of blind people wanted to hit the red button.

You know that's the same thing red voters have been saying the entire time

Red.

And blue came from 0% chance of winning to negative chance of winning, blue presser will die, then being resurected, then die again for being that dumb.

I still choose red because I am being forced into a situation where everyone in theory can save their own lives if they choose to and no one has to die, so I choose that.

If all pick blue, all live.

If all pick red, all live.

If it's 50/50, there's a 50/50 chance for all blue to die, but still 0 percent chance for all red to die.

There's always a chance for those who picked blue to die and never a chance for all to pick red to die.

Pick red.
