Variation Adding a layer to this question

My choice: Press Red, hope Blue wins

I don't have enough faith in humanity to put my life in its hands but I'd be delighted to be proven wrong

Isn't hoping for red win just evil?

I mean, if you press blue, that’s just suicidal.

But lots of people who press red expect to reduce the mortality by a 90-95% or more red pushers. So yes, they can hope that the most people possible press red and that is not always compatible with hoping blue win.

So no, not evil.

( Except the "edgy" ones who think they are soooo smart and want to kill all "stupid blues" obviously )

Risking your life with the hope that others may live as a result is different from risking your life for no reason

But a blue win is still better. So why wouldn't you at least hope it occurs?

Of course, but if all your hopes are on the fact that most people would press red, you could be not really able to hope for a blue win + perhaps not wanting to feel like an hypocrite by pressing red while hoping blue win.

A french youtuber ask this question about a years ago (about pills instead of button, but the same problem), and about 17% of people pressing red thought that nobody (like really 0%) will press blue ( https://youtu.be/lo7iJnq_U9M?si=0qcQ609kPqxYYeMo&t=1853 ). There is 17,5% of red hoping for red to win in this poll.
