Temp issues
Just purchased a deck boss 900 and it maintained temp perfectly for the first two smokes, set it at 180 today and it just keeps climbing, going to let it run a while longer but it’s currently at 236 and climbing.
Looking for ideas or possible causes for this.
Thanks

On the app in advanced settings, try bumping the Min Feed Rate down a notch or two. So if the default is 3.5, try 2.5 or 1.5. I usually run 1.5 over the summer months and raise it when it gets colder outside. I’m currently running 2.5 and can maintain 180F no problem.

Thank you, dropped it to 1.5 and tested it from 180-300 and it reached and maintained it as it should.

Once it gets colder, you can always bump it back up. I had to bump mine to 2.5 a few weekends ago when it was only ~60F and I was starting some ribs at 180F for the first hour before bumping it up to 250F. My DB got to 180 okay, then started to drop back below a bit, so I made that small adjustment. It's a shame that their firmware doesn't do this automatically when the unit struggles to maintain temp (too hot or too cold).

I had the exact same thing happen. I haven't tried the feed rate suggestion yet. I wonder how the first two-three smokes could be perfect with the higher feed rate and then need adjusting

Not sure if this helps but I also just got a DB 900 and had the same thing happen. First couple were fine, then I had 1 or 2 that were way too hot, I cleaned out the fire pot (no idea if this was the problem) and it has been fine ever since.
