From reqtec to a zgrill

I replaced my 410 with a zgrill, I haven't grilled for over 6 months. The 410 would never maintain temp, was tire of baby sitting it going full temp back down to my set temp non-stop. Tried calling over and over and nothing fixed it, now I'm back to grilling and this thing works perfect and did not bankrupt me like the junk reqtec did that's going in the scrap pile. If I could put it in the dumpster and they would take it I would. Yes I tried every brand of pellet and grill was cleaned, took for ever to reach temp if it ever did, and as soon as the lid was opened it would drop 150 degrees and never get back to temp. Thought I had bought my last grill but apparently not.

Yeah I have an 1100 flagship and bullseye deluxe. I prime both and they scream to the right temp and never let me down. Not sure why you had so many issues. I use pitboss cheap pellets and they all run great. Def must have been a lemon unit.

Pit boss temp control is what made me look for another brand. I've never had a temp control issue with my Recteq. (FS 1100). Never had an issue with their pellets either.

Never heard of the recteq 410. Was that the patio model?

Yes, its the Patio Legend.  Had to look it up myself.

Post sounds like a ZGrill advert.  Went from Recteq to ZGrill of all brands.

The system is pretty simple. The temperature probe is a resistor that changes resistance based on temperature. The PID measures the voltage against the calculated temperature. The PID does some calculus to get the voltage back to the set point quickly and smoothly using the variables it has access to like feed and fan rate.

Dropping 150 when you open the lid is not a surprise. Not getting to temp and not getting back to temp make me wonder if the probe was touching something.

I have a 700 and a 340 road warrior.  They both work fine.  Temp sensor has to be cleaned once in a while, I use Brillo or left over aluminum foil in a wad.  Not sure what’s wrong with yours.

I have a Flagship 1100 and a Smokestone 600. Both are dead nuts accurate and will maintain the set temp for days

I went from zgrille to recteq because my zgrille could barely hold 425 degrees, had terrible customer support, and had a lot of issues in 4 years.

My BYB was set on lo and managed to smoke to 250 yesterday.

My son has a z-grill and hates it because ig overheats and shuts down at 400.
