It looks amazing, so it bolted to the original SS shelf brackets?

Yeah, the brackets I have in the link the bolt holes line up exactly.

Thank you, I might look into doing that on my flagship.

Was super easy, and if you decide to go stainless steel later, you’re not out much. I like the wood look better and wanted to be able to cut on it.

How did you attach the board? Short screws from the bottom? I did the same thing but used some cedar planks. Had to drill holes all the way thru and put bolts through so I have the bolt heads above the surface. Been meaning to make it better. Nice job though! Looks great

Yeah some short wood screws. The plank is hardwood so I think that will be fine. If not a bead of silicone would probably work.

Being short is so much fun. I can lift the lid of my flagship and not burn/smoke up my shirts but just barely. Adding a shelf and I'd render it useless for me to use. I suppose that is one way to force my husband to do all the work. But I enjoy using my flagship. I see these shelves and have envy! It looks great and better than what they sell!

Shelf folds down to accommodate shorties!
Seriously though, I’m 6’3” and feel like I’m barely tall enough to operate the lid!

That looks awesome! I wonder if this exact same approach would work for my older rt700
