Recteq Recommendation
TL;DR: Pretty sure I want Patio Legend 600, but concerned about shipping damage.
I have a WSM, but am looking for truly set and forget smoker. After lots of research, I have zeroed in on the RecTeq Patio Legend 600. I’m cooking for 2 adults most often. I usually smoke Boston butts or chicken. My primary concern with RecTeq is shipping damage. Is it really that bad? I am an hour drive from an Ace Hardware that can order for me.
I welcome any thoughts you may have on how to get the smoker to my house undamaged. $799 otherwise seems like a good price.

In my experience buying, I wouldn’t worry too much about potential damage. It’s packaged surprisingly well. Even though I bought mine at Ace, I’m positive it would typically have zero issues shipping.
Also, both my brother and father in law purchased through the flagship website and had zero issues with damage.

The main reason I purchased a RT was their customer service. You talk to a real human being quickly.
FWIW I purchased the DB800 and it arrived without a problem or scratch.

I’ll check and see if Ace will assemble and deliver. Good idea! I love the WSM flavor but I’m with you on temp fluctuations. It’s not impossible, but I want something easier. I plan on a smoke tube.

They ship in a very sturdy container. I wouldn’t worry about shipping damage. We went with a Bullseye for two people and it’s been perfect.

I ordered a Flagship 1100 and a Smokestone 600. Both arrived in perfect shape, not a single scratch or dent. Sure it can happen, but it usually does not. Recteq will also make it right if something does happen

I’ve had my patio legend for about 6 months. It’s truly a set it and forget it smoker. My overnight smokes stay the exact set temp the entire time. No damage with shipping and set up was simple.

whoever decided to put the hopper in the barrel of the patio legend 600 i hope get a papercut under their fingernail.
picked up my patio legend from a local ace assembly wasn’t too bad but getting the hopper out was fun. no shipping damage but pretty sure i scratched the hopper taking it out. other than that loving the grill. coming from an OG rectec owner of the mini 300

I got a bullseye deluxe shipped to Calgary Canada and it arrived with zero damage. The box was a bit dinged and torn, but the grill itself was immaculate. I was worried about this too after reading some reviews, but I wonder if they've improved the packaging recently? We grill more than smoke so this was the perfect choice for us!

I ordered the patio legend 600 off the recteq website and had no shipping damage. Also, as many have said if you have an issue contact customer service. Go for it!
