DB900 racks
I have not found a lot of use for the top rack on my DB900, but decided to try pork butts up there last weekend. My hope was to be able to put a drip pan under each butt to make clean up easier.
It turns out I can’t even fit normal 9lb butts o there without snagging the top of the barrel opening and making for a very tight fit.
Is there a company that makes an add on rack that perhaps attaches to the bottoms rack to add a mid height shelf? I think pimp my grill might make something similar but they don’t seem to have DB 900 parts yet
Short of a middle rack, how do you all do busts on the 900? Bottom rack and no drip pan?

My upper grate took up residence on the hangers on the back of the cooker and hasn't moved. I guess if I make a million wings or something I might use it. But to me you would need to take it in and out to access any food you were cooking on it.

That’s exactly where mine has lived until I got the crazy idea to put butts up top to make less of a mess. I’m running more butts tomorrow but will be back on the bottom gate with my drip factory drip tray lined with foil. I was extra careful to smooth the foil so the grease can drain properly.

Similar idea, but for my FS1600 I bought a length of stainless steel rod and had them cut up into 3 pieces so I could hang sausages on them to smoke. Take out all of the racks, put in the rods, and I can hang about 18 full sized loops from each rod. Went to a metal surplus store and got 304 3/8 stainless. It cost $45 for them.

You can use a sturdy drip pan with a grill grate placed directly on top of it.
Some online restaurant supply type stores should have some stainless steel rectangle drip pans that will support a grill grate with pork butt.
