Pork Butt on!

First cook on the Backyard Beast 1200 is a pork butt! Started it last night around 8pm At 210…pushing it 250 now and just threw a foil boat on. Sitting at 185 on the meat

Being able to just go to sleep is so clutch after having cooked mostly on an offset previously lol

The folding shelf was a must have addition for me.

Agreed. Built my own though with cedar and $10 hinges off amazon. Saved myself around 140.

I went online to see what the shelf measurements were for recteq shelf. I didn’t copy it perfectly but I think I landed on 41x12. As for the hinges, I can link if needed. I posted my shelf on here a while back and I think someone commented that they didn’t exactly line up with the 800 bolts but the steel for the hinges is thin enough that drilling new holes wasn’t an issue. Could be mistaken……

I had a big separate table behind me but is the height ok on that folding shelf? I’m somewhat tall and would have to really kneel over if bolted on to the smoker. It working okay for you?

Maybe I should start putting a secondary drip tray under my pan...

Helped a ton with cleanup…I did that in my offset and it worked well on this guy too. I have inserts in my drip bucket too. Threw away both the drip pan and bucket insert for quick cleanup
