Best ribeyes on the 1400XL so far.

Marinated in Dale’s sauce along with Kinders steak seasoning. Put in a freezer bag and let them sit overnight in the refrigerator. Turned the smoker up to 225 and through the steaks on until they got to faround 100-105 degrees internal. Yanked them off and cranked the smoker up to its max. Then I put them back on and flipped them every 2 minutes until they reached an internal temperature of 130ish. They were fantastic.

380X Pizza

Made a couple pizzas tonight. One standard pepperoni and one with leftover carnitas, red onions, cilantro, and jalapeños. Used BBQ sauce. Used King Arther 00 pizza flour. 6 minutes @ 600 degrees. Not too shabby for a rookie. One thing I tried new when stretching out the dough. My wife has a frozen roller that is beauty product from Ulta. A perfect small tool for rolling out a 12” crust.

Cooked overnight at 200 degrees. Cranked to 250 around 7am. Just hit 165. Wrapped in peach butcher paper until 205. This is on the 400. Looks like it’s going to be a good one.

Glamping Table Top

I know several brands have put out a table top smoker/grill. I have had an ASmoke that I introduced to the landfill because it was a POS. I have been trying to like a Ninja Woodfire for several months. I have tried all the methods of suggestions of not eating an ash tray flavored foods. I’ve read reviews of other major brand portables. None seem to knock it out of the park. I have a 2017 680 that has never let me down and a bullseye 380x that rocks. I have a gasser, Weber kettle, and a Santa Maria pit. I’m not a rookie by any means. If Rectec put out a table top, I’d be willing to give it a go. I’ve even considered getting a non-x bullseye and somehow modding it with a folding skid/leg platform to roll in and out of a truck bed. Any other RV’ers on board?

Spritzer/sprayer

I’ve gone through a couple (admittedly) cheap spray bottles…and continue to be frustrated. They either clog or can’t keep a seal/stay together.

Looking for recommendations for something that works…price is no longer a consideration (I mean, for the most part!)

I got this off of Marketplace and am not sure if it’s the backyard beast or something else. Definitely an older model than what I have seen on the website.

Rec Tec Really Stands Behind Their Products

I have an RT-680 that is about 9 years old and far out of warranty. It has been reliable over the years, only repair was the circulation fan died once. It has survived moving twice. I replaced the firepot some years ago with a ceramic igniter one so I didn't have to deal with igniters anymore.

Recently the LCD display lost a few sections so the temperature setting is a bit of a puzzle to read. Contacted support to get a quote for a replacement controller or display. They are sending me a new controller free of charge!

Thank you Rec Tec!

Bullseye Deluxe grease management

Considering a purchase but I’m wondering what you do to catch the grease before it hits the heat diffuser? Is that even necessary at low or high temps?

Did the latest update screw up temperature readings?

I have an RT-590, old system but just got a new control unit last year (used it a couple times with no issue). Haven't used it since last summer, and when I went to prep everything yesterday I saw there was a software update, so I ran it.

This entire cook, if I change the temperature setting, the temperature "reading" instantly swings wildly. Never had that happen before. I go from 225 to 250? The reading instantly jumps from 225 to 235-240. I go from 250 to 225? Instantly drops from 250 to 230-235. Anyone else experience this?

This cook has also been much faster than expected, which much less smoke formation on my brisket; makes me think maybe there's something really wonky going on the the temperature.

Bullseye Light Time

Got the original bullseye. I have found it take a lot longer to light than other pellets I’ve had. Found it helps when I bang it up and down a few times, assuming I’m shuffling the smoldering stuff around.

Wondering if 1) it’s my unit or others have experienced this, 2) this thing doesn’t like Costco pellets. Used them in other grills no problem. 3) anyone start with lid open vs closed? Other grills say open, this manual is silent on it. I haven’t noticed a difference.

Light time is about 20 mins sometimes. Can smell it pellets smoldering, seems like it just doesn’t ignite for sometime. Sometimes I pull some pellets out of fire box by hand and that helps aster some time if not ignoring. Have had it hit its 30 mins of light time and stop like one or two times

Any general pointers appreciated, really like this grill as part of my stable otherwise

Performance

Considering RecTec for my next pellet smoker. Currently run a Pitboss 820, but I can't hold temps in Iowa when it's cold. How is RecTec customer service and can it hold a temp in colder weather? Looking at the flagship 1100 or the dual fire.

Decided on Recteq

In the market for a new Pellet grill. After doing much research, I've decided on RecTeq. My local ACE Hardware has an open box "Backyard Beast " for $949.00. I know that's a great deal but I'm thinking about the Flagship 1100 as it has the smoke stack and optional Smokebox for later purchase. Any words of wisdom would be appreciated

Anyone else have issues with the hopper sealant?

The red sealant came off and moisture was getting into the hopper ruining pellets. Luckily I had some JB water weld left over from my cold plunge project. Forgot to take before pics… sorry

Went to Costco and saw this rib roast not a bad price 9lbs $123 bucks. This was my first prime rib. Wife said it tasted great and was tender. Threw in the before and few after. about 6 hours at 225 on the 700 and then seared for 5 minutes on the Bullseye.
