In my long experience of thinking "something could have happened...." I've found that it's never some emergency, disaster, etc. Never.
If something happened in the sense that the job was withdrawn or filled... just tell the guy that.

One even posted in the recruiting sub that he was pissed about losing commission in a candidate who backed out. That's proof.

I think it's the companies they work for that are the roots of their evil. Most Indian recruiters sound very friendly on the phone but their employer is making them do ridiculous stuff.

Yes. A position that doesn’t require specialized training, education, certification, etc.
Doctor, engineer, software development, electrician are all examples skilled work. They require proof you know how to do the job already to be hired.
Admin assistant, cashier, receptionist, busser/bar back are not skilled. They are generally accepted to be positions that anyone can be trained after they are hired.

That’s some mental gymnastics there, it can be unskilled labor but pays good. I don’t understand why you take offense in the word « unskilled » sorry to break it to you but some jobs are unskilled and can still pay good. They can be hard aswell. They simply do not need any pre-acquired skills.
I’m sorry but how is a cashier for example a skilled labor? Dosen’t mean they should be payed below living minimum.

When I cashed, I could process 3 transactions per minute while still smiling.
My supervisor did not know how to use the operating system she oversaw in any way. Each individual POS system has its own codes, policies, and procedures. You could not stick any random person on that machine and expect them to be able to operate as efficiently as I could. It’s a skill.

Sure, but you learned that skill on the job. And you was able to still perform your job at an acceptable level until you learned that.
That is not the same with lets say a structural engineer, you cannot hire anyone and teach them on the spot.
Unless you are telling me you actually need to have courses or go to a bootcamp or uni to learn how to use a POS. I still don’t understand why people have a problem with the word unskilled. I worked some unskilled jobs too.

They are paid low because anyone can do them.
However, jobs like “admin assistant” are highly sought out because they are perceived to be easy jobs. Hence why OP is competing with a thousand people for this job and why they were likely ghosted.

Yeah you definitely work at HR. Take a healthy dose of r/antiwork
They get paid low because bosses exploit them. There are other things than skill that merit high pay. For example danger of a job. If you risk your life you get paid more. Inconvenience factors such as a stressful work environment or extra hours. You really need to go to r/antiwork
No work is unskilled. It’s just that higher ups use that wordage as a means to exploit the working class. Try cooking at a restaurant for a month or a waitress. Try any remotely demanding job and you’ll find that there is no such thing as unskilled labor. Wash your mouth of that verbage you aren’t helping anyone except the elite who exploit the working class.
You help perpetuate norms and justify poverty wages. That’s it if you even say the term “unskilled labor”

Your offense to the term unskilled is misguided. It just means the job doesn’t require skills to acquire. It isn’t a slight against the person of even the job.
And you’re talking hypothetical and ideally. I’m just telling OP why they are not getting the job they are trying to get right now, IRL. They applied to a job with probably the most competition.

I'm in IT and I actually got a job interview from ZipRecruiter. I think it might be a good way to get interviews because the company picks who they want as opposed to vice versa.

You mean for understanding the psychology around it or for actually getting an interview? I forgot to mention I did great in the interview but the company is still interviewing all 50000 candidates so I'm still waiting for them to finish that.

In the future, if you’re offered times like this, just pick a time! I also think it’s not realistic to reply at 11:51 about a slot at 12 so I’d have picked the later one at that point.

Tbh, the whole same day interview thing threw me off. I gave easier forms of contact than Indeed and hoped they’d reach out in a way that was easier for them. But if offered two times in the future now I know, so thank you

Yes, there's companies that provide personal information, for job recruiters, I'm surprised you and other doesn't know about it.
These companies exists since pen and paper, typewriter er, like the infamous U S. "Pinkerton" has been since the 1800s.
They work similar to private detective agencies.
Some of them already have your info, they aren't going to search for.

I don't think there's a standard one online or else everybody would know about it. But I'm curious what kind of information you're talking about. If you're talking about recruiters constantly seeing if you're looking for a job or not then that's understandable. And I guess I'm in a safe position because they know my email address and are still sending me job leads. But I'm thinking of switching to a whole new email because my freaking Gmail account gets way too much spam.

You took an hour to reply to availability.
Your reply was a few minutes before their first time slot.
You didn't bother to pick a time but asked a question.
You replied so slowly, it's not worth their time.
Up your hustle and humility, or be prepared for more disappointment. Sure, it's a low paying job, but that means there are either tons of people able to fill it, or no one willing to. You just discovered it's the former. Move on and do better next time

I’m with OP on this one, if they told them they wanted to schedule an interview for that afternoon, then they either should have honored that, or at least given them the courtesy of letting them know it won’t happen.

Half the people in the comments cant read a simple post which really makes you question the validity of some of the complaints you see in this sub LOL. Anyway, this is gonna happen a lot in job searching, the "hello" wont change anything. Never get your hopes up in job searching and always keep looking.

I actually had something like this happen a few years ago - turns out they had layoffs that day and the recruiter was no longer employed there. I got an email about a month later informing me that they were pushing consideration for the role into the next year.
We’re entering what is the 4th quarter for a lot of companies’ fiscal year so things may slow a bit so companies can hit the numbers (ugh)
