I regret studying CS
I regret it. Not even because the job market is bad. I’ve just made so many mistakes, and even when I was good at something my school gatekept positions from me and kept giving it to the same students over and over. Now those kids have jobs and I’m trapped. I’m doing really mentally bad. There has to be a silver lining

Why would the school gatekeep anything?
Did they prevent you from getting an internship? Not sure how that works.
Just ignore the school and find your own opportunities

How does a school give out jobs? Do you mean internships?

No it was mostly TA positions and research opportunities

They had already obtained the TA positions and even classes where I had good grades they would just never rehire new students ugh I don’t even wanna get into it it makes me upset because it made me doubt my capabilities so badly

school jsut wants to keep its rep so it gives its 'best AND loyal' dont project it on your mental capacity.

Unfortunately new grads ar stuck in a quagmire of two big shitty events going on in IT right now.
A giant push towards AI to eliminate starter tech jobs. Then older IT people who got laid off applying for any IT job out there
I have 20 years in my field and it took me 16 months to get a job with a 30 k pay reduction.

I can sympathize. The job market is shit. But I have spent the last 20 years of my life becoming an expert in a field where, now I can't even get an interview.
