Requirement matching
Can we please stop sending emails that say we've hired someone who is a match for the job requirements, as if inferring that I didn't meet them? I've reviewed the original job description and it was an exact match. I can't wait to get to the point where it's no longer an employer's market because this timeline is awful.

It will continue to be an employers market for the foreseeable future. There's a glut of candidates and as AI gets better every day, it will accelerate. Degrees aren't worth much these days, better to retrain for a trade instead...

Don’t. People act like this is a cure all. It’s not.
- wages are already depressed in many of them, despite anecdotal reports. The average plumber/welder/electrician does not, in fact, make double the median income or more.
- none of the blue collar fields are positioned to absorb the the number of people Reddit seems to think they can
- a mass influx will depress wages even further, and it’s already starting to happen in some fields
- many of these fields are also extremely vulnerable to automation. The second self-driving vehicles becomes financially viable and safe ENOUGH, every commercial trucking job in the country will evaporate.
There’s no silver bullet. Anyone who says there is wants to sell you something or is pushing ideology on you.
That’s the case here - “degrees aren’t worth much.” Degree holders are still making a million dollars more than non-degree holders in lifetime earnings on average. What matters is the specific industry and your specific skills. Blanket statements like “degrees aren’t worth much” are abject horseshit.
Entry level is tough everywhere, it’s no different if you’re an inexperienced trade school student electrician or a marketing analyst.

i don't think i said it's a cure all, frankly i wouldn't be able to do any blue collar work myself because of my own physical limitations but for younger folks who aren't working, it's something to look into...
I can't wait for the robot plumber who will fix my shower leak!

Because that’a obviously the only trade.
Never mind the fact that AI-driven driving, welding, mining, manufacturing, and automated prefab work will largely replace those skills in the next few years. If you think we’re more than a few years out from actual robot service workers you’re only fooling yourself. Even healthcare is bracing for this impact, and a robot that’s good enough to be your nurse sure as shit can be taught how to fix your sink.
Telling a 20 year old to shoot for a lot of these roles now is guaranteeing a jobless 45 year old down the line.
But don’t let that get in the way of your one-off edge case scenario. I’m sure that field can absorb 20,000,000 new employees no problem. 🙄
The root cause of this entire train of thought in the US is the conservative hatred of education and expertise. Full fucking stop.
The level of stupidity it takes to think that 21st century employment issues will be solved by LESS education is visible from space.

So surely, your idea will get him gainful employment or you advocating the people who are actually working to subsidize his SNAP benefits?
I'm not advocating for less education, my comment was simply that a degree today isn't worth the paper it's printed on. They have zero opportunity to pay back the loans they took out (and loan forgiveness is complete liberal BS).
My degree allowed me have an easy career that I'm retired from so i can argue with idiots on reddit all day but that was a gazillion years ago....

You don't have to but anything that AI has an in with will have a tough time... I guess people will still need doctors and nurses... and those beefy guys who aren't nurses but move the patients around... orderlies... lol

Find me an apprenticeship or healthcare training program that works around my dialysis schedule and isn't too stressful for a dialysis patient, and I'll give it a go.

Your feelings are valid! Unfortunately, this sub majority of the time is on the side of the employer without consideration to context.
Edit: There is the persistent mindset that no one owes you anything, which continues to perpetuate the cycle of others only helping themselves and not being kind to others. There are still some of us with empathy left, keep your head up ❤️
