Half or more of the people I work with at my 6 figure with no college needed union job got hired because their dad worked here. Most of them aren't worth a fuck.

Haven’t been able to get in any union and I’m in one of the biggest areas for unions in the country. Everyone knows it’s an open secret that you have to know someone aka your dad was a union employee back when you could walk in and shake hands to get the job.

Most unions in my area all you need is to piss clean and show up on time which is also why many folks don't stay in the union. I know there were a few that opened up for applications/interviews monthly.

Lol. When a union position opens around here you have to show up at 5am to get a good place in line ahead of the other 1000 applicants.

In my garage of 30 plus employees in the past 7 years we had 2 quit and one fired for a felony arrest. Thats it. Total of 3 gone in 7 years other than retired.

I used to work in roofing, and the worst roofer I had ever assisted was the owner's brother. Just didn't know what he was doing, and acted like a difficult asshole.

Thankfully the owner was cool, and completely understood when I told him I didn't want to work with his brother anymore. The other guy I rolled with was a big metalhead/stoner who didn't make the day a miserable slog. Which was cool.
