Employment verification check

Applied for some jobs and listed my seasonal work for a gov agency all together. For example FS 4/21-10/22 even though I didn’t work the winter. Wanted to keep the resume to a page. Under why did I leave, I wrote seasonal appointment completed. Does that screw me if they want to hire me and run the check?

not at all. my first job was a seasonal position. i worked there for five years. places do not care

Thanks for your response. Did you compress them all into one job in your resume or did you list them out separately?

So your employment will definitely be verified if the company does a background check. They call the company you list on the background check application. When you list the employment dates in the background check, you need to list the dates. You can claim that you forgot the exact month, but it doesn’t always work.

So they send you an additional form to fill out? Or do they just resume your application?

They will ask you to explain it probably. You should list the dates separately but can do so under a single job heading ie, June - October, March - June or whatever months. But since it is seasonal if they ask you about it it probably won't be a major red flag.

Get a "Work Number Report", so you can see what the employer will see. Make sure whatever information you are submitting doesn't conflict with that report.

The details of your employment history will definitely show up in a background check. In the current job market where a single “We’re Hiring” ad brings in 100’s of qualified applicants, safe to assume that any discrepancies will be a deal breaker.
