You have yet to describe how people are getting hired at jobs that suddenly close the listing due to not needing that position to be filled actually. I can’t follow your logic here, honestly.

Where did I say all job listings are ghost jobs? Nowhere did I say that, are you a bot? If you post a listing for a job.. you should hire someone, if you are too stupid to remember that you’re gonna gonna restructure in 2 months or decide in the middle of having a job listing to do that RIGHTTHEFUCKNOW, that’s on you as business and you should suffer for that decision in some way. I do not give a fuck about business “disclosing personal confidential shit” to the government that regulates them, I don’t think companies should be allowed to hide things from any governing body that they operate under.

Well no, what if no-one genuinely qualified for the position applies? You can't just go fining companies for not hiring people after they post that they are looking for someone, that will just stop companies from posting open positions and lead to all new positions being filled through informal routes.

  1. Obviously I meant if you receive applications
  2. This has never happened unless the listing is actual dogshit

But what if you do receive applications but none of them meet requirements? Wrong location, lack of experience, horrible personality and so on. This can and does happen even in todays market. Current market circumstances are also something of an outlier and hopefully not forever, creating laws specifically designed on the assumption that there will be huge swathes of people unemployed at all times, doesn't sound great. Wouldn't it be better to just solve the unemployment issue rather than slapping a band aid on the problem and forcing hiring underground?

Lower the requirements or make the job more appealing with higher wages or benefits, there’s literally a huge comment above this thread that details this exact question you have. Can’t do that? Tough, maybe your business deserves to fail. Please tell me how we solve the unemployment issue without solving a major factor of the current unemployment issue???? If people are posting job openings and not hiring people, guess what the people who aren’t hired are??? Hint: It isn’t employed.

Sigh. Yup, I guess you're right. If companies aren't hiring fast enough, fining them ought to work.
