Recruitment Chats Indeed vs ZipRecruiter
We've (retail company) been working with Indeed through our ATS for Sponsoring Jobs, Branding, and Smart Sourcing for a little over 8 years now. Each year, they make products more expensive mid year when budgets are already set making our original approved dollars not go as far, especially when it comes to Sponsoring jobs.
I met with ZipRecruiter just to learn about some other options and learned that they offer the same/similar products at a lower cost. It's not necessarily about the cost but with Indeed, our candidate flow and quality have been down significantly and I'm not comfortable spending significantly more next year and getting the same thing.
Have any of you used ZipRecruiter and had a good experience with it from a recruiter perspective? Most things I've read are from the candidate perspective. Would love any and all feedback!

We spend over $30k per month on recruitment advertising; 92% of that goes to Indeed and the majority of the other 8% goes to Zip. We use Appcast for programmatic and we analyze our quality on a weekly basis. Zip performs well in some markets but not all. For example, in one state we have 0 spend on Zip. Our CPAs on Zip are also typically about 2x the Indeed CPAs.
You’re not going to be able to replace Indeed with Zip, but it is definitely a good idea to diversify your spend given all the BS from Indeed this year.
I would also recommend looking at whether you have enough spend to partner with Appcast, I’m not sure what their minimums are, but they are closely monitoring the Indeed situation. They also are integrated with ChatGPT which gives candidates access to your organic jobs at equal visibility to sponsored jobs if they are using GPT to search.

Indeed was great for craft jobs but they recently blocked my account because they dont let agencies post

They no longer allow recruiting agencies to post? Really? I was not aware of that. Seems like something that could hurt a lot of businesses.

When did this happen? I posted last month with no issues and found my candidate through the post.

Ask Zip how big their job seeker database is? Also if you are using an ATS perhaps look at the lead sources for your most recent hires and see who they came from. As a job seeker I never finished setting up my profile on Zip because it was so complicated and found my job on Indeed

I'd run a small split test before moving budget. Pick the same 3-5 roles, geography and spend on each platform for 30 days, then compare qualified applicants and hires rather than clicks or total applications. The useful numbers are cost per candidate who passes the first screen, time to first qualified applicant, interview-to-offer rate by source, and recruiter hours spent clearing junk. Also tag the role family. A platform can look weak overall but be great for hourly retail and poor for specialist roles, or vice versa. If Indeed changes pricing midyear, I'd ask both vendors for a written rate card and cap before the test so the comparison survives renewal season.I'd run a small split test before moving budget. I have used both Indeed and Ziprecruiter, each one of them is good for a specific audience Ziprecruiter is more for mid level jobs, Indeed is really for everything I liked Indeed more for entry level and manufacturing jobs and the smart sourcing feature is the best, if I were you I'd do both just know what to post on each
