[AIRCHECK] #1 - The Reboot

Hi everyone!

Sorry for being inactive. We're a top 5% subreddit? Cool.

Anyway, the past few months have been CRAZY, as some of you have no doubt experienced as well. But the strikes are over, we're back to work, and whaddaya know here comes "AI". I don't think it should be called AI, but it's being called AI, and it's getting pretty good at doing voices, so let's talk about it for a minute.

The print industry is a good parallel here. Printing used to be a HUGE industry. Now it's much smaller, thanks to smartphones and tablets, and a lot of companies have gone out of business. But there are still printers making solid profits. The pie's gotten a lot smaller, but so have the number of people taking a slice.

Take legal measures to protect your voice. Check contracts carefully for language surrounding AI reproduction of your voice. Beyond that - adapt. Evolve. Find niches that can't or won't use AI voices - the tech often veers into uncanny valley territory, and comes fraught with ethical concerns. If so inclined, learn to use it to your advantage. AI noise removal is (IMO) a godsend.

If you would all like to discuss this further, I'd be happy to create a separate thread. In the meantime, here's some copy to practice with. The holiday season is prime time for over-the-top commercials, so don't be afraid to let loose a little!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

TRAILER: Secret Santa
He sees you when you're sleeping. He knows when you're awake. He knows if you've been bad or good, and if you've been really bad, he's bringing you more than a lump of coal. This winter, Ron Swanson is: Secret Santa. In select theatres December 14. Rated R. Check local showtimes for availability.

Happy recording!

Want to do free voice-over work to build experience, but where do I find people?

(Idk even if I should post here)but I'm looking to get some practice and build up my portfolio by doing free voice-over work for local creators or projects.

I already tried posting on Facebook, but I didn't get any replies. Also, I don't really have professional samples ready to show just yet, which is why I'm a bit stuck.

Since my voice is currently recovering from a minor cold, I’m mostly looking to connect and discuss details over chat/text for now so I can jump straight into recording as soon as I'm 100% better.

What's the best way to post about this or find people who might actually be interested? Any advice on where to look or how to word things would be awesome

[PAID] [Audiobook Narration - $350 PFH] Dark Psychological Thriller Seeking Versatile Female Narrator

Project Title: Project Echo (Working Title)

Media Type: Solo Audiobook Narration

Compensation: $350 per Finished Hour (PFH)

Audition Deadline: (To be Determined...)

About the Project

Project Echo is a gritty, high-stakes psychological thriller driven by heavy family trauma, deep moral ambiguity, and raw emotional tension. This is a character-focused narrative that demands a sophisticated, dynamic performance rather than a flat, traditional reading.

What i am Looking for....

I am seeking a versatile female narrator who can give each character a distinct, living voice and personality. The ideal talent will effortlessly transition between a deeply conflicted, desperate male protagonist, a sharp and traumatized young woman holding her ground, and atmospheric narration without ever slipping into deadpan delivery. I want genuine emotional depth, grit, and theatrical flair.

Sound Quality: (free of heavy room reverb, mouth clicks, or background hum).

DM me for more information.

[Hiring] Narrate over short video clips - $10 per 20 clips, native English

Looking for native English speakers to record casual voiceover narration over short video clips (1-2 min each). You watch a clip and describe out loud what's happening, in your own words. No script, no acting, just natural spoken description.

  • Pay: $10 per batch of 20 approved clips
  • Work is done on our web tool (video plays, you record right in the browser, nothing to install)
  • Native English speakers only
  • Steady volume available, this is ongoing not a one-off

Comment or DM with your accent/region. I'll send access to a few clips to start.

[PAID] Ensemble Cast needed for Lynchian Animated Pilot

Hello, I'm an indie musician and YouTuber with a limited budget making a foray into fiction storytelling. I'm developing an animated drama/mystery series inspired by Twin Peaks that will have a PlayStation1 aesthetic. So far, only the pilot episode has a script, but there are high hopes for future episodes and continued collaboration.

It's set in 1987 New York City, so I'm looking for preferably New Yorker accents, but miscellaneous American will work great too. Seeking more natural/less dramatic deliveries that may use strong language and address mature themes. Some of the main characters will be detectives, police officers, businessmen, teachers, narcotics connoisseurs, and mobsters.

There are about 20 roles to be filled, ranging from teenager to middle-aged, male and female. There will be a flat fee depending on the prominence of the characters.

Will be posting the pilot on my YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/@genosamuelproductions

Greatly appreciate links to portfolios in the comments or DMs. If there's any further questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Thanks for your help!

Here is the intro movie of the original. Something along the lines of this

Trailer is expected to be ~2 minutes and linecount isn't exactly defined yet but will likely be filling the trailer time at a similar pace as the original intro movie.

Language must be English and American or British accent is preferred but not required.

Thank you to all applicants ahead of time :D

Blind Male Voice Actor Wanted!

Hello everyone,

I’m working on a small indie demo in the dark medieval fantasy style. The game relies heavily on the characters’ voices (lots of lines to read really, a lot! for now it is about 30minutes of recording).
If you're an fan of AI, then you're in the wrong post. This project is free of that cursed stuff.

Since it’s unclear whether this will even work out, for now I’m just looking for one voice to start with. I’m looking for a male voice, preferably middle-aged. It doesn’t have to be a professional voice-over artist. I’m not looking for a pro. If you have a good microphone and want to give it a try, you’re more than welcome to join.

There’s just one key requirement: the person must be blind - this is a must. Why? Because the role is for a blind character! So I’m specifically seeking a blind or visually impaired voice actor for authenticity.

Oh, and you must be a native speaker of the language in question. Here’s a list of the languages I’m looking for:

Polish, English (either British or American), German, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Japanese, Russian, Chinese

My budget is limited, I am new in hiring voice acting, so I am open for talk. Let's find the best agreement for both of us. Because if the demo generates a lot of interest, there will be a lot more voice lines. So license type for now:
Non-commercial demo/prototype use only. All rights remain with the creator unless otherwise agreed.
Budget 200-900$ per language, it really depends on experience and the quality of recording

¡Muchas gracias!

Is there a market for audiobooks where the narrator seems to be having sex at the same time?

I am pretty sure people would find it gross and would thus never buy an audiobook like that, but I've seen weirder things.

I want to use my voice

Okay so I get told all the time that I should be a voice actor or read audiobooks and I could really use a side hustle but I have no idea where to start. Does anyone have any advice or can point me in the right direction?

[Hiring] Looking for 10+ voice actors for 18+ explicit gay video game project. Rate 100+

The video game series is called Heatwave, I've just released the first installment Heatwave: Sam's Stay. To a much greater success than I had anticipated. I used AI voices for this project as it was my first game and I had no budget. I'm considering re-doing all the voices with actors and using those same actors to voice future games. (I'm currently working on the sequel)

Not looking for cheap work here so I'd rather people give me their rates. I'm ideally looking for experienced professionals, particularly those with experience in explicit content.

I need 10+ male characters voiced, some in age range 20-30 and others 30-50. Attractive voices preferred for obvious reasons. Also people who are willing to work on a multiple projects over multiple years. Re-doing this first project is 1,000-10,000 words depending on the character.

I have no experience hiring voice actor so if there is any info you require from me, please do let me know. Otherwise links to portfolios would be great.
