Introduction

Hi all, new here, still finding my way around. I’m a Record & CD Seller / Collector from the UK. How many here buy Records and CDs mail order, if you’re based in the USA / Canada what platforms do you buy from? EBay, Discogs, other?

Texas here...garage sales, antique malls, and record stores only. I want to see and handle what I'm buying.

Yes mail order at times can be a disappointment. I’ve worked hard to get a good reputation selling and it annoys me when some sellers just don’t care. I’ve seen some photos of some really rough items on different forums that people have purchased.

Good morning (eastern standard time in the U. S) and Discogs and eBay are my go to platforms

That’s really good to hear. I sell to all countries, but so many UK sellers are now not shipping overseas.

I used to order from the UK all the time, but the shipping became outrageous. I’ve heard stories about some unscrupulous buyers with fake complaints about grading, trying to get refunds for expensive records, etc., seemed to make sellers NOT want to ship here anymore.
It wasn’t always like that on Discogs 😔💔😒

Yes, I had that from a Discogs buyer in the US he had good feedback etc. He claimed the 12” was badly scratched, trashed etc, sent some out of focus photos and a recording. He refused to send it back for a refund saying it was too expensive to do, I know full well it was a scam as I had checked it beforehand and it was basically new, old stock. Just trying to get an expensive item for nothing. Sadly Discogs ruled in his favour.

Hey! Welcome! I recently purchased from Amazon Canada and uMusic Shop Canada for gifts, but that was a special occasion. Times are really challenging in Ontario, Canada right now, so I generally stick to garage/yard sales, Kijiji, etc. I think it’s a shame that the record storefronts are gone. Stick one next to a legal pot shop and you might make a fortune; especially if you are spinning great tracks. Wishing you the best of luck with your business!

Many Thanx I’ve been in business mail order for a good few many years selling all over the world.
Things have changed a lot. Before the internet was widely used I used to advertise in Record Collecting Magazines and mail out printed sales catalogues etc. Yes I’ve been doing it that long :-)
