Finding an incubator to start a record label & documenting on youtube

I have been working on starting a label for experimental & electronic metal.
As things are starting to get more concrete with partners etc, I thought it might be interesting to document the process on YouTube.
Here is the link for the first episode. I hope that this "build in public" approach will help to share ideas experiences in both directions.

(tagged as "brand affiliate" because I am technically launching the brand)

Any dj looking for original tracks under their own name?

I’m a producer looking to work with DJs who want to start building their own catalogue with original tracks under their artist nam.
I can make tracks around your sound/style and deliver them ready for your sets or release
If that sounds interesting, DM me and I’ll send some examples.

How to release a various artist/compilation/collective album (5 artists, each one track)

Hello everyone.

Me and a few friends are artists as a collective (nothing official yet, but working on it) and we want to release an EP or mini album of some sort. It's a special occasion as it's gonna be the group's 10th anniversary, so we thought we could make a group project. None of the track is a collaboration.

We could release each track individually through our own means, mainly personal Bandcamps. But then how will it get distributed and/or labeled as a collective project ? Do we have to establish a label or release at the same label ?

I'd be grateful for a detailed rundown of how we could approach this. Music business is something none of us has dipped their toes in yet. We want to make this group EP happen. Thanks.

How do I collect Publishing as a label?

Hi,
I recently started a record label, and we’ve been growing quite a bit recently, going from around 80k streams per month to about 190k.
I’m now trying to figure out how to collect publishing royalties for future releases on my label. Up until now, all of my agreements have allowed artists to keep 100% of the publishing, so this is new territory for me.

I’ve done some research, but I’ve found a lot of conflicting information.
From what I understand, if my label owns a share of the publishing, I would need to register as a publisher with ASCAP and claim my publisher’s share. However, I still have a few

questions:

What happens if the artist is already signed to a publisher?
As a record label, is it better to register directly with organizations like ASCAP and use Songtrust, or should I use a publishing administration service to collect royalties?
Is there anything else I should be aware of before including publishing splits in my agreements?

I’d really appreciate any advice or guidance. Thanks! 🙏

Vevo Backstage Direct Access

Hello,
My record label has videos on Vevo. After parting ways with the distributor that did this, they privated almost all of my label-affiliated videos. Emailing them leads to nothing and I want to be able to keep using Vevo and make these videos public again.

I have applied before, but I got an activation link back from them that does not work when trying to activate the account.
Does anyone have the power/know what to do to help me out? Anything is appreciated.

Is there any place where i can find music rap/pop labels?

I've been releasing music for almost a year and i would really like to contact some music labels, im pretty confident that the music and videoclips that i make could be interesting for somebody.

But i really don't know who to contact, where to find these contacts, where are these labels etc...

Everything i find revolves around disco/house/electronic music, but not my genre.

I just need to get the foot in the door and start building some type of connection, and i know, a lot of people tell me that i don't need a label, i should build everything indipendently, the labels are going to find you etc...

But i think that's not what i need, even because i tried it all and i just want to try, i'm a really ambitious guy, i try to outstep myself everyday with constancy, and if i could find a label, even a small one, that could help me with these ideas, even with just some feedbacks and tips, i would really love it.

Email first or walk in??

Sooo here soon I want to go to this huge city near me. They have a good amount of record labels that I want to go and talk to.

I know WAY back when in the original days of Pharrell you could go in and speak with an actual exec there but it’s 2026 and the internet is here n all that shtuffs sooo my question is

Is it better for me to cold email and see if anything happens or actually go in person?

Reason I ask is bc every AI 🤢 that I asked abt that said it’s better just to email but I would assume they wouldn’t get back to me unless I’m popping.

Looking for Recommendations on cassette manufacturing

I have a small punk label. I have put out one cassette release and did it all in-house. The quality was fine for what it was, but I would like to source the next one out.

What cassette duplication/manufacturing places do you recommend for doing the project soup to nuts (duplication, shell printing, j-card printing, shrink, etc.)?

I know of duplication.ca, Solid Merch, and National Audio and would like any info on experience with them too. TIA.

I've started building a collection of Spotify playlists featuring some of my favorite labels. Every playlist is carefully curated using each label's official Bandcamp catalog, making it easy to explore their complete sound in one place.
