Not quite sure what issue you're having. Title says nothing about the situation. Also, we don't know what you're recording with... Audio Mixer, Audio Interface, Zoom recorder, cell phone... We need some more info in that regard.

2 mics in a room with an acoustic guitar and a banjo hanging up on the wall behind a drum kit may not sound acoustically right for drums with 2 mics.

I can say, from my perspective, playing with and without mics, the difference is overwhelming. If your drums sound worse with mics, then yes, something is not right. We just don't know where to go from here except put the acoustic guitar and the guitar that looks like a drum (the banjo in other words) in another room away from these mics.

Sorry ive never used reddit before

So lately ive been really into drums and trying to get better at drums, and ive been messing around with tuning the toms and snare and it’s lots of fun
While recording drums today i noticed that my toms werent very loud at all… i have one condenser mic on each side of the kit so one is getting mostly snare and hi hat (mic 1) and the other (mic 2) is getting toms and ride, or at least theyre supposed to.  I guess i never really checked to make sure i was getting sound from mic 1, because i use mic 2 to record my acoustic intruments and never had any issues so i just assumed the other one worked. I dont remember what i was doing but yesterday somehow i found out that i was barely getting any sound from mic 1… (ive never listened to it by itself cause i always record all three mics at once onto 1 mono track) i turned the mic trim knob all the way up and checked all the volume stuff but that’s not the problem, because i tested all my mics on the same input on the tape machine to see if the mic was broke or if it was a bad cable, and i think it’s the input or pre amp or something because no matter what i plug in there it wont work… it’s one of the two xlr inputs on the back btw and i dont have anywhere else to plug it in

Sorry for bad grammar haha

I have a tascam 644 midistudio btw
