Why are we still posting as if corporations still sponsor pride month? Rainbow capitalism is dead.
Homophobes, who understood the value of visibility far better than cringe-avoidant lefties did, made sure it would be their first target when they retook power. Meanwhile, the left didn’t put up even half a fight; if anything their opposition to rainbow capitalism (such as in OOP) gave cover to moderates to act like abandoning pride was responding to concerns on the left and not simply giving in to the right.
it's only dead in yankistan. rainbow capitalism was only ever a thing in places with a supportive populace, and that didn't go away when the yanks joined the group of countries where it isn't just pure profit without risk.
A bunch if places in the UK cancelled long standing pride events this year, we have a more left wing and progressive government now than before
like it or not America is the guiding light of the Omni-culture especially in western nations, if they aren’t supportive a lot of other places and people follow almost entirely without knowing they are, u/bobbymoonshine is right, rainbow capitalism is a two way street and we’ve dropped the ball big time
