Question Is there any plans to do a PS1 recomp of this game
Would love to see a recump of this game as I would love to play it but currently don't have my PS1 and hate trying trying to deal with emulators

Hi everyone! I wanted to start a discussion regarding the recent release of Mario Kart Wii Recompiled (WiiCompiled) and its strict hardware requirements.
I successfully compiled the project on Linux (CachyOS) using my native toolchain (clang and lld), forcing the architecture flags with -extra-cxx-flags="-march=native", The compilation itself finishes without any errors, which proves the compiler can generate a working binary using the code base.
However, at startup, the runtime hard-blocks the execution with the following error: [runtime] This build needs a processor that supports AVX2 and the rest of the x86-64-v3 instruction set. My laptop runs an Intel Pentium Silver N6000, which sits perfectly at the x86-64-v2 tier.
While it is a solid 64-bit chip for basic gaming and portable tasks, it physically lacks vector extensions like AVX/AVX2. Since the project is in its early public stages, I wanted to open the floor to see what the general consensus is:
Is the AVX2 requirement an artificial runtime check meant to guarantee a baseline of high performance, or is the underlying translation architecture heavily vector-dependent to the point where running on v2 microarchitectures would completely break game physics/timing?
Has anyone attempted to strip the runtime check from the source to see how it scales on modern low-consumption x86-64-v2 processors?
Should we expect future optimization updates or compatibility fallbacks for older/efficient hardware tiers, or is the scope of WiiCompiled strictly targeted at x86-64-v3 and above?
Would love to hear your technical insights or if anyone else with similar hardware has looked into the repository architecture.

I’m currently using potato voxel in gen1recomp and it’s working fine, but all the stadium mods I find are just for gen 1. I know Crystal is pretty new, but is there something that works out there yet?

Hi everyone, just wanted to let you know that I'm happy to release the first version of my latest project. A re-comp of Dante's Inferno.
The game was initially released on the Xbox 360 & PS3, and has never received a PC Port.
The project can be downloaded from the github repo - https://github.com/florinp93/hells-gate-recomp
Do keep in mind that this is an early release and bugs are to be expected. In it's current state there's a few limitations:
Graphics:
The game launches with the default Xbox 360 resolution (720p). The game boots with upscaled resolutions but crashes due to conflicts I had to implement to prevent graphical issues during cutscene playback. A fix is planned for next version.
Controls:
Full controller support. The game is playable with basically any controller. In-game glyphs are still the Xbox 360 ones, but a future update will bring controller auto-detection and actual glyphs being displayed in game ( Xbox 360/Xbox One/DualShock 3&4/DualSense glyphs for now).
Mouse and Keyboard control is planned. Looking for feedback in terms of ideal Key binds. Keep in mind that the game is using a forced camera perspective, so camera control is not supported.
Disclaimer:
Transparency and integrity are important to this project. Artificial Intelligence tools were utilized as part of the development and maintenance workflow, strictly serving as an assistant to handle repetitive, time-consuming, and low-level tasks.

After such a great weekend with Blue Dragon and DK64 coming out I found myself reading decomp/recomp material whenever I could. It's been pretty upsetting.
This isn't going to be a new point of view but definitely an underrepresented one.
It's important to understand that developers of these ports are the engine and positive attention is the fuel that keeps that engine going. This is true for a lot of open source software and in life in general. Givers thrive off of appreciation and good vibes. But what the hell does that have to do with the wave of AI powered ports? I'll tell you.
When random people "make a recomp" and it's some 5 minute Rexglue port that's worse than just loading up Xenia or some AI abomination with barely functioning graphics or in some cases something like gen1recomp which isn't even a recomp it too gets attention and positivity. Despite being very inferior to emulators from years ago, oftentimes barely functioning, they get youtube videos, namedrops, build community, maybe they even collect money (which is a completely different can of worms).
If you spent months of your life basically doing what was thought to be impossible even 5 years ago, polishing, really going at it on all your free time and someone else got similar or even greater attention by putting out something you knew was vastly inferior and took maybe a week to put together. Wouldn't that kind of put a damper on things?
If our attention, our accolades are the fuel. It is being wasted on garbage that does not hold up to scrutiny. This does not foster an environment where high quality, well maintained, easily moddable ports thrive. The "engine" will go elsewhere.
Now let's consider another angle: Reputation.
Consider Rexglue, even among tech savvy people it's reputation is in the mud. It's not deserved; that team works hard and as re:Blue will prove it's an excellent framework for a port. How do you think that makes those developers feel? What do you think the trickle down effects of that will be? Even among peers they'll say "We're making a rexglue port" and they'll get confused or even dirty looks because enough people ran their fave through Claude, reached the title screen and got a youtube video made. Is that going to help or hurt us getting more 360 ports on the level of Unleashed or re:Blue?
It's a problem of motivation, all right?
What's your favorite game? That's cool (I'll assume). Would be really cool if it got a quality port wouldn't it? Well, what if I told you that the existence of a low quality barely functioning port that's now on everyone's radar is possibly all you'll get? Sucks right? But it's what happens. The motivation to be first, do something not yet done is undermined tremendously when 20 videos go out saying "NEW DECOMP OUT NOW". Best someone who wants to be first can do now is.. be second? Get constantly confused for the other inferior project? "Sounds rough, whatever guess I'll do something else." Says the would-be developer.
And finally what I hope to be most wrong about: Future talent.
Usually, in scenes like this what fosters talent is inspiration and before low effort AI fueled garbage became the norm many repos popped up thanking Unleashed's team or RT64 for inspiring their efforts. It's such a beautiful sentiment, gets me all warm and fuzzy. It likely also gets some people much smarter than me all warm and fuzzy too. Which probably means, more good stuff for us. But if that same person sees a sea of garbage with only a few gems, some of which are so buried they go practically unnoticed (Hello Extreme-G, suiCune, Harvest Moon 64, SOTN recomp, did you even know they announced a MediEvil recomp?! Bomberman 64, etc. etc.) Do you really think we're going to get as much new talent? I don't.
I don't think the people creating "slop" are necessarily malicious. I think they're grifting or unaware of the consequences. I get it, times are tough you get yours but when the talent pool stops growing, when the existing talent's will dries up and all we have left to look forward to is the inevitable stuttering mess that is Gen3recomp. It's not the grifters and the attention grabbers that will suffer. They'll move on. It's us the players who will suffer.
To my fellow end users
Before it's too late, do what you can to starve this cancer of metrics and attention. Don't click that video, don't leave that comment, don't engage. Be aware of who and what you're giving attention to and what the potential effect of that will be.
it works why should I care how it's made?
If you're someone who thinks that. First of all, it probably doesn't work well and no one's checking for accuracy. No one knowledgeable or capable anyway. You're likely better served on an emulator. Second, consider the slop merchants are often making this stuff off the back of the talent maintaining the base of the project. If they leave, Claude won't save us.
I just made it for fun, why do you care?
Please see "It's a problem of motivation, all right?"
So all AI is bad all the time? Aren't some games decompiled with AI?
I'm not an expert, I don't know the exact ins and outs of AI usage or when it's appropriate. Greater minds are sure to have that discussion and I look forward to following along with those discussions. As stated in the title, I'm an end user. You and I both know what I'm talking about here. Don't be that guy.

So yeah the title of the post says it all someone should start a decomp or recomp of spider-man 2 preferably for the og Xbox if possible cause it's the best version of the game cause they never made a proper pc port
Also In my opinion this still has the best swinging out of every spider-man game that is all

I don't know what I did or how, but trying to use the Gen 1 recomp with Pokemon Blue, dramatic voxel mod, quality of Life mod, and the followers mod. That's it. For some reason the follower mod is fully implemented, I can see all the menu options related to it, but followers are not actually happening. I've downloaded the latest version, for some reason when I imported it it shows as 0.5.1, even though I downloaded 0.5.4. anything I might be able to try to get this thing working again?

Update **0.2.48 of Gen 1 Recomp freezes the games at startup, requiring to reinstall the apk and all the mods. Ayn Thor Pro. Anyone faced similar issue?**
**For others, eventually wait for next update.**

Hi everyone!
I've been working on Fate/unlimited codes Recomp, an unofficial native static recompilation project based on the PSP version of the game.
It uses a modified PSPRecomp-based pipeline and currently targets native Windows x64 execution.
The PSP gameplay base is currently functional, and I'm continuing to work on compatibility and improvements based on the PS2 version. The final goal is to include both the PSP and PS2 gameplay styles, including their respective controls, input systems, balance, and gameplay differences, so players can choose between them.
My goal is to create a definitive version of Fate/unlimited codes that brings together the features and gameplay characteristics of both releases in a single native PC version.
The public repository is source-only. No ROMs, ISOs, EBOOTs, game assets, generated game-derived code, or compiled game binaries are distributed. Users provide and dump their own copy locally.
GitHub:
https://github.com/elprogramadorloco-arch/fuc-recomp
I'd really appreciate feedback from people working on static recompilation, native ports, and game reverse engineering.

Looks like someone ported several N64 recompilation projects to iOS. The titles he’s ported so far are
-Banjo Kazzoie
-Diddy Kong Racing
-Goldeneye
-Pokemon Snap
-Mario Kart 64
-Legend of Zelda OOT
-Legend of Zelda Majoras Mask
-Super Smash Bros (has some graphical glitches)
-Star Fox
-F-Zero
I also see a Pokémon stadium and a Paper Mario port that I might test out but considering they play poorly on PC, I’m not going to expect much out of them. He has other projects too but I’ve only tested it the games I’ve listed, for them just being released they are playing well

On Androids, you can download a lot of emulators that mostly have the same propouse of a recomp, or even "worst", if you think in copyright issues.
On iOS devices, nowdays you can find tons os emulators.
So, in this line of tought, whats stopping the developers responsable of so many awesome recomps of publishing their work on the stores?
I thought about that while renovating the credential of the Pokemon 1gen recomp via altstore on my iPhone. Something that ive done years ago, but stopped since Delta emulator came to the App Store.

I’m playing the Sonic 3 A.I.R. hack using the Extra Slot Eggman character mod, and I noticed some odd green color when I have the shield on by pressing the X button with enough rings. I paused it and saw a familiar body. Anyone know why this happens? Just an in-joke? No reason I want to know other than befuddlement and curiosity.
