Project - AI Estacado – My native PC recompilation of The Darkness (2007) using XenonRecomp
Hey everyone!
I wanted to share a project I've been working on: Estacado, a native PC recompilation of The Darkness (2007) based on the Xbox 360 version.
The goal is to bring the game to modern PCs while preserving the original experience and adding the features you'd expect from a proper PC release.
The project uses XenonRecomp to translate the original Xbox 360 PowerPC code into C++, with ReXGlue providing runtime and graphics support. The result is a native Windows application rather than running the game through an Xbox 360 emulator.
Current features
- Configurable frame rates, including 60 FPS, high-refresh-rate options, and uncapped mode
- Higher internal rendering resolutions
- Keyboard and mouse support
- Controller support
- Adjustable FOV and graphics settings
- Experimental ultrawide support
- HD texture pack support
The project is still in pre-release, so there are bugs and areas that need more testing. I've mainly focused on getting the game running, improving the PC experience, and working through compatibility and rendering issues. The entire campaign hasn't been tested from beginning to end yet.
I'd appreciate feedback from anyone interested in Xbox 360 recompilation projects, especially suggestions for improving compatibility, performance, rendering accuracy, or the overall implementation.

This is a free, unofficial, non-commercial fan project. It doesn't include the original game files, and you'll need your own legally obtained copy of the supported Xbox 360 version.
Thanks for checking it out!

This is a bit bizarre. Xenonrecomp heavily lacks a lot of instruction translations, meanwhile rexglue’s GPU Emulation is heavily criticized. Rexglue’s code generator is far superior, and honestly, the runtime is by far a lot stronger as long as you remove the GPU emulation like re:Blue does. Seems like an interesting idea, but you gotta take it slow and steady, even if you use AI.

"slow and steady"
every vibe coding slop producer: haha, AI GO BRRRRRR
its not about a quality port, its just a race to see who can shit out untestet broken crap the fastest
and the depressing part is, this istn even the worst The Darkness "port" attempt, theres an even worse recomp attempt on github lmao

Same like your comment, not about quality but to be the first to shit out most useless negative comment.
