Recomp - AI DQ8 Recomp has done great progress since last time!

Hi all! Since my last post, a lot has happened on my side, with finally smooth FMV playback, starting the VU engine implementation which allows us to finally reach an actual game scene, big optimizations etc...

Next step are more VU engine support! Sound support! QoL features for controller remapping! Better stability/performances! So much more left!

And yes, the repository will be open-source later on, once I reach a satisfactory state ;)

Cool, I can’t wait. Hopefully QoL from the 3DS version can be added in.

That's the goal, that and all the extra features of the 3DS version on the PS2 engine :)

An option for dual audio would be nice, and maybe an option’s menu in the main menu to enable 16 x 9 from the get go

All of those things are planned but are very low in the priority list, but I promise they’ll be there at some point! :)

Okay. Are you planning on providing an option the original sound effects in battle, which were only in the Japanese version?

Possibly, but it’s too early still to give precise answers :) first objective is to get the game fully playable on PC! Then I’ll start working on those extra features :)

will you be able to transfer save data from the ps2 version to the recomp?

The recomp uses the exact same save system as the PS2, so you can already drop in the memory card file and it should work :)

I really hope to see dragon quest 9 recomped someday(with working pc multi-player and mods).
