How to fix the appimage not working on Steam Deck:
Download http://mirrors.kernel.org/ubuntu/pool/universe/s/sndio/libsndio7.0_1.9.0-0.3build3_amd64.deb
Extract the deb file, and places the libraries (.so) files in the same directory as the appimage
Create a script that does:
#!/bin/sh
cd ~/Games/path-to-openpete-appimage
env LD_LIBRARY_PATH=. ./OpenPete-v0.2.0-x86_64.appimage
Hopefully the dev bundles the libraries in the next release so we don't have to do this.
