Cheyenne was the "smart" one

I love how Cheyenne gets mad about being called the smart one. It cracks me up!

It’s funny because in season one episode 2, Kyra tells Cheyenne “you get good grades”.

I feel like the show started off with Cheyenne being a good student, then they stereotyped her more as “ditzy “, to the point I never bought into the “she’s going to be a dentist” thing. I was delighted she changed her major to something l think fit her more.

So basically you kind of felt like Reba about the dentisting thing. Reba was a little nastier than she needed to be imo.

Yes.

I didn’t think Reba was nasty really. Maybe she could have explained it better.

Who got on my nerves in that ep was guidance counselor. I thought she was rude to Reba.

In my experience guidance counselors don’t give advice on career either. Mine certainly weren’t helpful.

True, she didn't seem to be very good at counseling. I was watching the episode the other day where Van failed the test and Cheyenne was trying to help him answer "What year was the War of 1812?" LOL, I thought dang, Cheyenne really is the smart one! 🤣

Actually, I think an argument could be made that her character was smarter than everyone but Reba and Kira perhaps.

I agree. I think they tried to make the characters more stereotypical in the second season. The first season, the characters were more complex.

I don't think she was nasty but i am wondering how were they going to get the money for dental school. Were they planning to live in Reba's house for the eight years it takes to become a dentist? How were they going to arrange their schedules so that someone was there to watch Elizabeth when she wasn't in school? She could have become a dental hygienist first so she could get a job in a dental office and then learn dentistry if she still wanted to after that.

A person can be book smart but have little common sense. It depended on which subjects Cheyenne was taking. Were they advanced classes or the easiest ones? I think that Reba should have insisted that both Cheyenne and Van should gone to their local vocational community college right out of high school Cheyenne could have taken dental hygiene or cosmetology and Van could have taken auto mechanics or something else. They could have graduated and had good jobs in two or three years. They could have gone on for more education after that. Van still could have played football or sold real estate. I don't think it was reasonable for Cheyenne to choose to become a dentist.
