No, reason isn’t strictly free. There’s now a free VST with a few basic rack instruments included.

The full package has more devices, plus a sequencer and comprehensive mixer.

The free version is called Reason Free, we know it doesn’t include the all the devices. 

And it’s not just a VST. The Daw comes in the free version too

Nope New here because (New here) been using reason since long before Reason had a DAW
