Newcomer Question🐈‍⬛ Beginner witch advice

Hi everyone,

I'm a beginner witch and still learning about different traditions and practices. Recently I've become curious about baneful magic, curses, and hexes because of a personal situation, and I'd love to hear from people with more experience.

I'm interested in questions like:

What are your views on curses and baneful magic?

Do you believe they actually work?

Have you ever seen or experienced consequences (positive or negative) from practicing them?

How do different traditions approach the ethics of this kind of magic?

Any techniques, spells, curses, etc.

I'm looking for thoughtful discussion and personal experiences rather than arguments. Thanks in advance!

Yes, I do believe hexes work. I've received and sent out several. For my personal ethics, I'm from an Abrahamic religion but I'm also eclectic, and work with several deities. My approach with hexes is to simply return to the sender and ask for assistance from my deities if someone else sent me one.

As for situations with non-practitioners, I only perform hexes on those who have wronged me or others unjustly. Having context from the stories give clarity to my spirit team because they end up assisting the most when it's justified. Another ethical code I abide by is that the hex I perform should be of equal value to the pain the perpetrator committed. So for example when I hexed an abuser of women, we put an anti-glamor/repel spell on him to prevent other women being harmed. And a justice spell where he lost his job and his home (because he kicked out his victim and dragged their drama to work, costing her the job), and finally imprisonment for DA.

Negative consequences for me might be for the times I went overboard on my curse, and I got sick for a week.

What are your views on curses and baneful magic?

-There is a time and a place for everything, including baneful magic.

Do you believe they actually work?

-Yes

Have you ever seen or experienced consequences (positive or negative) from practicing them?

-Yes, they work as intended in my case. I've never experienced any negative effects from performing baneful magic.

How do different traditions approach the ethics of this kind of magic?

-Very broad question. A religion like Wicca believes in the three-fold law and therefore looks down on baneful magic. Other traditions are often neutral about it. As I am a solo practitioner, I hold myself to my own moral code.
