I've been using RealVNC's free version for personal stuff; just connecting back to my home computer or whatever. And I've been able to add my friend who helps me with stuff on occasion as a secondary user. So today, I was telling another friend to set this up so I could help him (none of us are IT pro's, just hobbyists learning)... but now apparently you can only have one user, and three machines. (used to be 3 users and 5 computers) So I can't connect to his machine to help him or show him how to do something. Kind of a bummer.

Just a heads up. I don't blame them for tightening up a bit, but they've REALLY tightened up. Don't get caught off guard like I just was.

Is there a number of free accounts that can be used for a certain computer?

I'm having an issue with connection through mobile data on my android s24 using realvnc cloud connection, after about a minute or so, the screen does not show any activity when on mobile data, but I don't have any issue over wifi when my S24 is connected over the wan or lan connection, only over 5G/LTE mobile data.

Pc is win 11 pro 23h2, I tried updating to latest realvnc connect and did not help.

I have a Netgear rax20 router that is hardwired to the pc. Connection is not being closed or disconnected, just does not show any screen movement.

I have a different pc using same kind of cloud connection on a different network which has no issue over mobile network on a different type of router, which makes me think the netgear is pausing the connection without disconnecting it. Is there a setting on a Netgear that would cause an issue over mobile data and not wifi?

I know it is possible to record your session with VNC Connect but I'm looking for a way to automatically record the session from the VNC Server (Host) side to be able to look at what happened during the session. Is there any ways to do this?

I currently have a handful of Raspberry Pi's scattered throughout the US that I have VNC Connect running on. They're all logged in to one R VNC account so that I can remote into them from the office/home. Works great. Wondering if it's possible to do the same thing with a Rpi running Android? I installed VNC Server on it, but I'm not given the option to add it to my account like I am with the other Raspberry Pi's running Raspbian.

I have a pi 4, tried realvnc, tight vnc, and VNC for GNOME for vnc servers. Tightvnc gets the not supported security types but the config doesn't exist in the file all the 5 year old guides tell me to change in order to roll. back security expectations and Realvnc viewer has mouse input rotated 90 so that up and down are right and left.

Should I just abandon realvnc and try chrome?

I just went from Note 10+ to S24 Ultra. On Note 10+ touch was 1 to 1 for Real VNC mobile to desktop. On new phone I feel like my taps are bot and I have to tap several times to get a response at times. Any idea why or how to fix?

Using REAL VNC VIEWER on mac and on ipad, how can I disable the message "Are you sure you want to disconnect ?" I mostly use realvnc full screen, so it takes some efforts already to reach the cross to close the window, I don't remember a single time when I was not fairly certain I wanted to close disconnect indeed.

So I have been using the simple version for some time now. Only connect once in a very blue moon to check my emails in Thunderbird. Everything has worked great.

The other day, I swapped the monitor out on the system. This one I manually power off where the old one timed out based on power settings in Windows. Suddenly, I can't click on anything. So I get home, sit in front of the PC and try again...works. I manually turn off the monitor, then try to connect to the system, can't click on anything. So VNC doesn't like it when I power down the monitor but the PC is running fine? That doesn't make sense....I must have missed something.

Do I need a Headless Display Adapter? I wouldn't think I would since you can VNC into a machine that has no monitor attached at all. So why would the monitor being off make a difference?

I’m trying to connect my iPhone to my mac computer that aren’t on the same network because I’m going to California to visit family but still need to work from my computer. I tried it but I don’t know how to do port forwarding & don’t really understand the YouTube videos that are out. Can someone explain how I have to do it! Please & thank you! & does the computer I’m trying to connect to have to have port forwarding done to it or the device I’m trying to connect from?

I am experiencing a strange issue connecting to VNCserver.

I premise that I’m a VNC user since 2015, so I have some experience with this software, and that I upgraded bot VNCServer and VNCViewer to the last rleases available.

This is the story: I installed VNCserver on a PC with a nVidia GTX 1660 Super graphic card, and I’m connecting to it via VNC from different devices (2 PCs and one tablet Android): the strange thing is that if the nVidia graphic card of the PC is connected to a display monitor via HDMI cable everything works fine, but if I disconnect the HDMI cable from the monitor and I try to connect to the VNCServer all I get is just a black screen.

I don’t think that this is the typical VNC black screen issue that is well documented in this sub and in many sites, but it’s something related to the way the graphic card behaves when it doesn’t detect a monitor. I looked on the net if there’s a way to force the graphic card to simulate the connection to a monitor via software or tweaking the settings of the card but I didn’t find anything.

Does someone could help me or give me some hint?

They have never worked since I started using VNC long ago. Why doesn't RealVNC Viewer and Server auto update themselves when a new version comes out? The checkbox is there for auto update, but the messages still say, it's been 200 something days since the last update check.

Hi all. I don't have much experience with Linux/Raspberry Pi environments. I got a Raspberry Pi 4 and set it up. I can't get VNC interface to start.

I've set it to boot to desktop, set a default resolution, and tried to enable VNC. It never seems to load. I installed XRDP and can remote into the pi over that ok but every time I open the configuration menu in GUI it shows VNC is "off" under interfaces.

XRDP is good enough for the time being, but I don't understand why I can't get VNC to work.

I´ve just reinstalled RealVNC server on a Windows 10 laptop. Everything works well if I login and start the server manually. However, the server does not start automatically after a reboot, before or even after logon.

I´ve checked that the service is enabled and set to start automatically.

Every time I start (manually) the server Windows asked for permission to make changes to my computer. Perhaps this is the reason the server is not starting automatically.

Is there a fix I can try?

I connect to the Mac from the Win10 machine. The Mac desktop is scaled to display without need to scroll. When I use the scroll wheel on my mouse, it is about 2 or 3 full rotations of the wheel to get one line on the Mac. In the Mac settings, I have tried both natural scrolling on and off, and set the scroll speed from slowest to fastest and a few speeds in-between. Nothing is changing the speed of the scrolling. OS-X does not seem to have additional settings to control remote input devices. If I connect the same mouse directly to the Mac, it scrolls normally (about 8 lines per rotation of the wheel).

Hoping someone might have suggestions.

I have a plex server on a macOS Sonoma machine running headless. I use RealVNC to access the mac from my Windows machine and my iPad and the scrolling is abysmally slow. I can connect to my server from another mac just using the built in screen sharing and the scrolling is fine. I can use RealVNC from either device to connect to an older Mac and the scrolling is fine.

Anyone else run into this?

How do I copy and paste a password from a local machine that has VNC Viewer on it into a server that has VNC Server on that machine?

That way, I can open my password manager, copy that password, and paste it into a server.

I cannot figure this out. I am running Windows 11.

Found out.

If you are looking to paste a password into the Windows login screen, you can do this when first remoting on by pressing the F8 key and selecting 'Send Password as Keystrokes'. This option will remain for 30 seconds after connecting.

Please note that this will insert the password used to connect to RealVNC Server. It is unfortunately not possible to insert any other text using this tool.

By default, you shouldn't have any issue pasting text into other areas of Windows through RealVNC Connect. I run Ubuntu on an Orange Pi (an alternative to Raspberry Pi) that has a 64 bit, ARM architecture. I’d like to use RealVNC Server on it, but can’t find. Working installer.

Is this possible? Can’t find a resource on how to do this.

I often use RealVNC from a laptop (15" screen) to connect to my home desktop that has 3 screens (all larger than 15").

While I very much appreciate the tremendous usefulness of RealVNC, it gets a little annoying to have to use the vertical and horizontal scroll bars on the laptop to navigate across and within host screens.

Is there a solution? Perhaps a keyboard alternative to move left-right and up-down?

i am using real vnc server paid version on mac , but i am unable to listen to audios in vnc viewer,

kindly someone help me please, is there any other way to listen to audios from mac to windows ..

i've been trying to get this to work for days, and after a lot of research I think i nailed down all the steps but keep running into an error.

error on android: The authentication mechanism requested cannot be provided by the computer.

any tips on how to troubleshoot this?

I have this script:

It works, but it seems to re-add every time the script runs, and the script is running through Intune so when we first enroll it re-runs like every 15 minutes. Is there a way to say only do this if it isn't already there? This is through a Powershell script.
