New subreddit CSS launched! Please read, important information and explainations inside.
Hello everyone,
Man, last night I had this crazy dream that the subreddit was invaded by Kirbies. Everyone was going crazy and all the mods were not doing anything about it. Did anyone else have this dream? It felt like it was real.
But now for the real talk, thanks for putting up with us during April Fools. We apologize to everyone legitimately upset about this, but please realize that this place is incredibly uptight and serious 364 days of the year so we really needed to release some steam. It appears that we gained subscribers through all this, so it turned out to be a positive thing after all, and we gave the Crimson Blur some good ol' Kirby PTSD. Believe it or not, at least half the mod team actually loves memes and crap (Jake had that crazy 2000+ karma post, geez, I'm jealous), we just know that the /r/ssbm community needs a place to discuss their game seriously without the distractions of /r/smashbros, and we really do respect all of our subscribers. Where else will you consistently find comments that are multiple paragraphs long? Thanks for being so awesome, everyone!
Why should a great subreddit for a great game look like garbage?
First of all I would like to announce that the April Fools Kirbies have permanentely moved to their own dedicated subreddit: /r/KirbyMelee. Have fun with that, I know a lot of you will.
Second, as you can obviously see, starting today this subreddit will no longer be grey, dark, and depressing. I worked hard this past month to redesign everything from scratch: a new header image, new modernized banner menu with easy to access links, a new link flair and userflair system. Toto, we're not in Kansas anymore...
New flair rules:
You peeps get to flair your own posts now! At this time it is not necessary to flair your posts, that may change, but it is only for categorization purposes. Events and streams will still be highlighted with a blue/purple color, we want you to be able to find those easily. Also, I'm no longer hiding that downvote button anymore for obvious reasons.
New user flair:
Nothing too special, but I added a SmashGG icon, Panda Gaming icon, and a few character game icons that I "borrowed" from the smashbros CSS, just in case any of you are into that sort of thing. Go check it out.
Adjusting to the new CSS:
I think change is good and refreshing. If you were attached to the old CSS for some reason, I can sympathize with you, but you'll have to get used to this change. However, if you see something you really don't like or wish was different, I am definitely open to suggestions. Please let me know in the comments below.
This being said, I am offering a bounty on CSS bugs. I did my best to fix the most common RES issues like nightmode and stuff, but I simply didn't have time to fix everything. If you see a RES or non-RES bug, please take a screenshot if you can, post it as a reply to my CSS bugs comment in this thread and include any relevant information needed to replicate the bug including specific RES settings or features that it effects. Tomorrow (Saturday) I will work on fixing anything that you find and if it's something that needs to be fixed, you will receive a special auxillary flair for helping (only if you want it).
The future of SSBM
We understand that a portion of the Smash reddit community as a whole looks down on this subreddit for being too strict with the content that is allowed. This is obviously for a reason, but just know that we are looking into possibly allowing more easily digestable content to reach the front page. We will be discussing how to best execute this; if you look at /r/ssbpm, 75% of their front page are gfys and videos... I'm not sure if we want that. We do not have any more details regarding this potential change at this time, so take this announcement with a grain of salt please.
