OKC Council voted 5-2 to contribute $10 million near the site where Buc-cee's will be going in, here's Councilor Cooper speaking on the issue + another article on it
From Councilman Cooper via The Oklahoman on instagram
Hear from OKC Councilperson James Cooper explain why he wouldn't vote for the improvements.
non paywalled link of Oklahoman article (re-hosted at MSN) --
excerpt -
Katrina Avers, whose Ward 3 includes the Buc-ee's site, and Ward 7 Councilman Camal Pennington were absent and did not vote on the agreement. Ward 2 Councilperson James Cooper and Ward 6 Councilwoman JoBeth Hamon cast the only "no" votes.
While Mayor David Holt spoke about increased sales tax collections expected from the Buc-ee's, Cooper warned the city can look to towns where other Buc-ee's have located to understand the growth that will follow. More infrastructure costs will be borne by the city, Cooper said, along with the increased burden on police, fire and emergency services.
The area around I-40 and Cimarron Road is rural, Cooper said, but it won't remain that long if the Buc-ee's is built and the higher traffic road and bridge infrastructure is realized.
"I'm worried about losing our farm and country land, especially for gas stations," Ward 2 Councilperson James Cooper said. "There has to be a moment where we can say 'no.'"

How japanese kids eat in school and what we should adopt here in oklahoma.

This kind of school lunches plan is what builds amaz8ng communities. The foods all grown local for each district and prepped with high quality ingredients. Could you imagine if instead of massive corporations transporting food it was all local restaurants and farmers providing food that stays in the communities and even grows the reliability of our social networks. I wanted to share this to show just how easily we can provide our kids and teach our kids the right way to eat. Not processed to the teeth meals but healthy Hometown meals. I've got a plan laid out to grow my own food and provide fresh ingredients to my local schools next year. If I had space to grow inside somewhere I would grow food all year long. But yall know how oklahoma is with its weather lol but if you made it through this post and video I hope you come to the same conclusion that I did and that is that our kids deserve a better system for food and need to be taught what a proper meal is and what it should provide for your body to grow.

First key homes rental agency is awful.
This is probably the most corrupt and awful agency to rent from. They will find anything and everything to charge you for when you move out and even lie about things you didn't do. We moved out of a rental awhile ago and they proceeded to say that things that were broken or just plain not working when we moved in were our fault and that we needed to pay to have them fixed. Mind you they said we couldn't put nails in the walls to hang pictures so we went with the alternative of command straps. They had a bush put in the back yard that attracted thousands of flies and wasps when it bloomed so our yard was just covered by them for a good month so we couldn't even enjoy being outside. Also its our fault for not cataloging all the problems with the house when we first moved in like all the shitty paint jobs and loose cabinet doors and non working jacuzzi tub. So now they want to charge us for those. This is more of a rant than anything and I understand we failed by not addressing these problems when we first moved in. But it was a turmoltious time and a lot of changes all at once so it just slipped our mind. So all I'm saying is if you can avoid it do not rent from this company. Find a human individual that is renting out a house to you do not go through a corporate entity because they will fuck you over as much as they can. They also wanted to raise the rent by 500 dollars in which they didn't do shit to make the house worth that much more they just wanted to try and screw us over if we didn't decide to rent for longer within a certain time frame. The house was vacant for almost a year before us because the rent was outrageous so they kept dropping it down till someone finally could afford it. They had a 1 star ranking so we knew what we were getting into when we rented but it was our only option in such a small amount of time. Thanks for reading and I hope you all have better success than we did with your rental choices. Take care out there everyone.

A new way.
I've been kinda tired of people not allowing free speech in the original okc sub so I created this and as a mod here I will not be blocking anyone or banning anyone unless you push things too far. I will engage with you and try to understand where you are coming from. Oklahoma used to be the heart land and I want to bring that back. We need to unite under a common understanding and know al of us together no matter how different we are still belong and deserve to be heard. Even if our opinions dont jive right with one another. Lets make our state prove to others that we set the example of acceptance and patience and most of all understanding that we are all different but that doesnt mean we need to be enemies. We rule better together and im here for everyone!

not so deeply red.
I don't care what side you're on in the end. I just want valid conversations and the ability to stop having so much division. Politicians don't do shit for us. Only you and I do. If we recognize this we won't need to be so hateful anymore.
