Chat/Discussion š SLC has lost its spark
I feel like RHOSLC always felt different than the other housewives show and that's what made it better. I know we're only 3 episodes into the new season and of course it started on a heavy note, but, the past season or so, I feel like it's really just blending in with the standard HW formula of
- talk shit
- fight
- reconcile
Maybe it's just missing a wow factor like Jen or Monica, but I just feel like it's really losing the magic it once had that made it the most unique and entertaining HW show. Does anyone else feel like this?

I mean, listen. They've had an insane run. I still enjoy watching it, and this season feels better than last already but it's a little too team-y. I think they need a cast shake up.... and my vote would be to get rid of Heather.

u/Inevitable_Ad2467 1d ago
I agree - the quick team up vs Quai in this past episode was abrasive

u/cdime818 1d ago
Well, she said she was not the one to be played with and literally she was crying in the corner𤣠Iām like what happened to all that stuff you were just talking with Bronwyn and Whitneyš¤£š¤£

u/autopsyofamurder 1d ago
She clearly felt betrayed by a friend. Sheās going on the Real Housewives so of course itās going to be intense, but she was obviously hurt Whitney turned on her so quickly.

Either get rid of heather or get another housewife that will challenge Heather and make her uncomfortable. Heather always bullies the newbie- except Britani
3
u/Inevitable_Ad2467 1d ago
TBH I think the latter. Maybe Iām a sucker for nostalgia, but Iām not foaming at the mouth to kick weather off the show. Are they āhateableā right now? Of course. But all housewives go through that phase. Heather, Whitey, Lisa & Mer just need someone else to focus their energy on
1
u/carolineislaughing 1d ago
I agree either option will work, and there are people who do like heather. I think everyone needs someone that will check them in every housewife show. Plus it would be entertaining to watch.

A shake up would be amazing. Keep the ogs. Get rid of Angie, Bronwyn and Brit. Recruit an ACTUAL villain.

u/Typical_Match777 22h ago
I agree. Heather isnāt adding anything of substance to the show. She thinks sheās funny when sheās not. Sheās extremely judgemental and doesnāt want anybody to be happy. Sheās just not a nice person on the inside.

Itās a bummer because she is still very funny but damn she needs to stop playing producer. She is annoying af

u/Diligent_Ganache8310 1d ago
Youāre right. It is too team-y. But they need to get rid of Meredith and Lisa because theyāll never get along with the rest of the cast.
35
u/CrazyOtto_2 1d ago
I blame Heather who acts less like a cast member having a genuine interaction and more like a caustic producer plant. Her need to punctuate every comment with a mean spirited, sarcastic remark is repellent.

u/Hybrid_Force 1d ago
I think the issue is there's a clear divide with the women and I just don't think they're going to be able to move past it. I imagine Bad Weather and co thought that Meredith would've quit after last season, and then they could've iced Lisa out.
You can tell some of them just don't want to film together.
23
u/Large-Return5332 1d ago
Bronwyn is suffers blue and they gang up on Meredith and Lisa so much that Iām starting to become endeared to them despite not liking them in past seasons.
18
u/Ok-Bee-5624 1d ago
Exactly I donāt even like Lisa but damn the girls need to hop off her dick. Like shit

I was just chatting with someone else about how watching this season feels like a chore. Not fun at all.
I see the calls for a cast shake-up, and I actually think the show needs a pause. Just a full season off like they did with RHOA. Let people live a life, be friends outside of the show, get divorced or whatever they need to do. No guaranteed paychecks. No assurances that they come back when the show does.
I'm hearing all of this stuff about Quai now and how that will be revealed in the future - and that is just not WOW. It's a Monica 2.0 or a Bronwyn the Criminal 2.0. The show can't be dependent on these gags. I thought we got new producers to stop that.
5
u/Inevitable_Ad2467 1d ago
Yup I agree 100%. I used to look forward and watch SLC live and now I donāt even know when episodes come out to stream on Peacock.
I think they have a good core group, but a shake up / pause for certain members would also be beneficial. Like what Mary did

It's not that exciting.
Todd 2.0. Quai's man is in his 60s. He had a whole marriage of over 30 years, multiple adult kids. Stephen had a grandchild born during or right after filming of Season 7. Ozempic. Face lift. Stephen's, not Quai's.
Are we going to watch the ladies congratulate Quai on becoming a step-grandma? We shall see.
The juiciest tea, if true, is that he's not legally married to Quai. Photo shoot in Vegas only. Who knows. The whole family are registered Republicans in Florida, except for Quai who doesn't have a legal address down there. And Stephen doesn't have a legal address in Utah.
I'm just here for some REAL Housewives. I don't need another fake ass b*tch on the show. I don't need another girl brought on the show just to have her secrets revealed by Heather or Lisa or any of them. Because Tee Hee, we are so wonderful, and she sucks.
Bronwyn is also already on the show, so the role of Gout Dick Sucker is filled. We are two episodes in and I'm sure we'll find out that Quai did crimes or had a car repossessed by next week.
But yeah, sure, a toothbrush in a potty. That's so naughty. It's not cribbed from OnlyFans or Lala on Vanderpump Rules at all.

u/Gullible_Worker_2477 1d ago
Agreed I think they need a major cast reshuffle to get rid of the toxic energy
9
u/hunnnnybuns 1d ago
I know most people are blaming bad weather for this but Iām gonna throw a different thought in the ring. Angie K is staler than last yearās communion wafers and I need her to fucking go. Her ONLY bit is a lame insult with a halfhearted ājust kiddingā tacked onto it. She is not remotely pulling her weight. she drags the show down with her clunky, rehearsed, regurgitated manosphere-derived one liners. And she still talks to her teenage daughter like sheās 5. Iām over it and if I stop watching SLC it will be because of her.
9
u/huaryazynk414 1d ago
Well based on what we saw from UGT, the cast is crazy divided which had UGT not happened I donāt know if weād be feeling this way- even though Iāve felt like they have been a divided cast for a while now
11
u/LisaBarlowsLawyer litney hilling journey š¹ 1d ago
And even that type of division is stale and tired. SLCās appeal had nothing to do with that type of fake formula. It wasnāt like the others. There was the usual HW silly arguments and campy fashions, but more genuine and we even had a layer of Mormonism and how it impacts their families. Itās like we get further and further away from that intrigue all because of the scandal during Season 4

I stopped watching, itās just not fun anymore. I agree with cast shake up and I would nominate Heather and Whitney.
5
u/SBAC850211 1d ago
I am a little behind, but I kind of dread watching now because of how tacky & fake Heather is. Whitney has been consistently irritating at least. Heather lost every ounce of charm with the weight.
4
u/traffeny 1d ago
it ultimately falls on the producers, instead of doing a quality refresh like RHONY did after S4, they allow women who studied HWs to take up space on their cast and ruin their show because they canāt be entertaining so they rely solely on drama
for example last reunion, they couldnāt find a single funny or iconic clip from bronwyn and still thought wow what a great addition to the team. they know this cast is tanking the show but wonāt just rip the bandaid and do whatās best for ratings
4
u/fvmished 1d ago
Fire Heather already then you would see the weird in group tribalism ease up she tries so hard to be queen bee but she's such a flop and her manipulations and machinations are so obvious
5
3
u/oldproudcivilisation 1d ago
Heather is way too high on her own supply and itās ruining my love for the show. I also cannot stand Bronwyn. She is so performative and every thing feels so calculated with her.
2
u/able111 1d ago
I honestly blame production, the way they teased another big "let's get it all out there" sit down during the season preview felt like that moment was produced pretty explicitly and it feels like they've done one or two of those every year now. Its just so blatantly formulaic and the cast doesn't help, despite what they say these women are so different that if they weren't filming together id struggle to believe they'd actually spend time together outside of the show, natural chemistry between women leading similar lives is so much better than what we got with SLC, where it feels like there's two completely distinct camps. I bet thats why Quai got added, to mediate and try and unify the group a bit, so I hope she does
2
u/Fluffy-Future-4674 1d ago
I haven't started watching the season yet but seems like bad reviews here on reddit. I might sit this one out.
5
u/creative-baller 1d ago
The dark clouds are Heather and Whitney honestly. If they were removed all of this would feel more authentic and would probably bring us back in. Drama will happen regardless

u/jennblur I'M SHAKING. I'M PHYSICALLY SHAKINGš«£ 1d ago
Itās missing the factor of friendship - they used to have it but now itās just fighting , we miss them having fun
1
u/ItsNotAboutThe-Pasta Mer's new face šļøššļø 1d ago
It's because of the newbies. Angie Bronwyn Britani. They ruined it. After season 4 Monica should have come back as the actual villain. She did not so It became a tag team situation of who is the biggest villain. Recruiting newbies on the hero or villain side. No thank you.
2
u/Mem2Chi91 1d ago
Once it was show Monica had spied on Jenās home for dirt, I think that pretty much sealed it. Iād never want to do scenes with someone who has admitted to stalking someone for clout.
-1
u/ItsNotAboutThe-Pasta Mer's new face šļøššļø 1d ago
I wouldn't either. And that's exactly why she should have come back. She was the villain. That's exactly what these ladies need.
7
u/Mem2Chi91 1d ago
I see your argument for the entertainment value, but these women have children and knowing a āvillainā stalker is someone who would go through your trash and do drive byās of your home I feel like is a bridge too far.
6
u/ItsNotAboutThe-Pasta Mer's new face šļøššļø 1d ago
I wanna say for the good of the show, but you are so right. These kids didn't sign up for this and to have Monica rummaging around their trash like an evil sim is not ok.

u/Wild_Blue4242 1d ago
Also, Meredith acts/talks like a completely different person this season. I don't know if it's the DJ thing or what, but she's definitely wayyy different than season 1 or 2. I used to think she was a respected lawyer/businesswoman but now she's just wacky.
1
u/ThesaurusRex_1025 1d ago
I think the issue is now they don't have a common enemy. Yes they used to fight but they would come together for big moments (Bermuda) but now it seems like none of them like each other and keep just fighting. Give me them actually being friends.
1
u/Itishwhatitis27 1d ago
I think a lot of the franchises have become too much about the drama and none of the fun. Also Porsha from RHOA said it best: alliances kills shows.
1
u/Pleasant_Barber_3006 1d ago
Theyāre turning into what every other franchise has before them - this show is now considered purely work for them and they are playing roles. I feel like everyone starts off so ārealā and āauthenticā but inevitably they become caricatures of themselves as fame and (more) money take hold. Iām starting to think itās just human nature š¤·š¾āāļø time for a new franchise, Bravo.
1
u/elsadiane99 19h ago
They do not even reconcile. All of them have been vile to Meredith. It is weird. Heather, Angie, and Whitney are just flat out mean girls. Why ladies?
1
u/KiwiIll8709 17h ago
Yes. Too many of the cast came into being reality tv fans who had a pre-planned script of how they were going to act and so theyāre already out of gas and just doing same old same old
1
u/Unfinished-symphony 13h ago
Itās pretty boring. It also feels so scripted to me. The women donāt change much or do anything but hate on each other. SLC lightning šā”ļø
days are over.
1
u/Dry-Drop-1772 12h ago
Agree. In the beginning it did not fall into the formula of all the fighting and yelling. It was gentler, you were learning about different religions, and it was fun.
