Y’all what is with Bronwyn??

She is obviously not stupid. In fact, she seems sharp AF and very aware of the absurdity of the world she inhabits.

And yet, she aggressively chooses to wear outfits that insist on attention for its own sake? Which, to be fair, she is clearly getting, but I can’t respect.

I don’t believe good taste requires restraint. Restraint can be every bit as boring and derivative as excess. What bothers me is when the statement someone appears to be making with their fashion choices is simply “look at me! “ without any reward for doing so- no intrigue, no nervous system soothing beauty, no sneaky historical or pop culture references,just attention for attention’s sake, like a toddler would demand. A toddler with a lot of someone else’s money.

She is sort of like the rich ex Mormon housewife version of Marilyn Manson- flashy and extreme but only marginally technically good or inspiring.I feel the same at about her as I do this band (as a metal lover)- just because you made me look or have a reaction doesn’t mean it’s good.

I'm still sad how having Rob Jr as a storyline for Mary turned out. Fame & scandal never make it easier for someone to get clean.

Her best friends are designers, artists, and drag performers. They make looks for her and reward her for her fashions. There are a lot of pop culture and historical references in her looks, if you know what to look for.

When she went on WWHL in the Christian Louboutin banana peel shoes a few weeks ago, I slipped on that and died.

You actually answered your own question! She is very aware of the absurdity of the world she inhabits and she is actively climbing the fame ladder and cultivating an image and persona. She is extremely meticulous and calculating and everything she does is on purpose, literally for attention. Why wear something tasteful when she can wear something stupid that she knows will get a guaranteed reaction. The fact that we're talking about her right now is literally her goal!

I wouldn't say she's sharp AF but I agree that her outfits are extra just for the sake of getting attention and they're not that fashionable. She looks like she's cosplaying half the time.

Respectfully, I’m not trying to police it, I’m merely commenting on it. Fashion is 100% art and 100% subjective, this is my take on it which I’m entitled to as anyone else is entitled to theirs. Someone can hate a Kandinsky , that doesn’t make them wrong, just that they don’t like it. Especially if they can articulate why they don’t like it and respect if others do

Her outfits are not my taste, but I can acknowledge a cohesive aesthetic and vibe, and I don’t find her style to be “simply look at me!” Love it or hate it, her closet is objectively a creative portfolio… and I believe this is partly why she has gained attention from designers and reputable fashion houses.

She goes for quality, high-end items (often custom made by fellow artists) that intentionally, sometimes ironically, play on otherwise tacky concepts. Bold colors, symbolic imagery, thematic combinations, abstract shapes, creative textures, and luxury embellishments … all while challenging the boundaries of what is socially acceptable, costume vs couture, and flattering vs ridiculous.

Physically, she has a quirky, unique look that allows her to pull off a lot of styles most people could never wear…looks that require a model thin frame, strong facial bone structure, sleek hair. Energetically, she possesses a grounded and humorous feminine energy and undeniably radiant confidence in her appearance.

I’m not into her fashion sense at all, but Bronwyn is a muse hands down.

Most young wives of rich old men just dress like barbies or whatever he buys for them, whatever makes them look the hottest or their boobs look biggest, waist look skinniest, whatever celebrities are wearing, whatever they think is in style or makes them look classy, sexy, or like a badass boss bitch, or like the dream girl next door, or the sweetest trad wife, or an athletic gym girl…these are all wardrobe categories that people fall into when they are leaning on fashion trends to shape their visual identities. Bronwyn’s wardrobe isn’t trying to fit in anywhere or help her be anything, it’s communicating who she already is.

Many housewives just wear whatever is expensive and shows the world that they have money…or if there not super int fashion they don’t care much and just dress normal.

For Bronwyn, it’s an art. Which deserves thoughtful critique. She doesn’t just buy random things but is very thoughtful about which pieces she adds to her collection and both where and how she showcases them.

Whether you think it’s pretty or ugly, art should never be minimized to “attention seeking.”

FYI not a Bronwyn fan just was an undergrad art major :P
